Approximately 10 years ago we celebrated our wedding in this nice Hotel-Restaurant which was really nice. Ever since then we are coming back on a regular basis. The most recent occasion was a special event called "Biodynamics" within which the Restaurant teamed up with the organic wine distributor Riegel. During this event 3 wine makers presented various wines that perfectly matched with the 5-course gourmet menu. The wine makers Abril (Germany), Tenuta Alois Lageder (Italy) and Leclerc Briant (Champagne) not only presented their wines but also shared quite some insight into their winerys.

From Welcome over Service to the Wine&Dine experience itself we felt like being in a Michelin starred restaurant. No wonder that they recently received a Michelin Bib Gourmand award.

Dear Ganter-Team - nice job we really enjoyed the evening at yours - rest asssured we will come back soon and for sure watch out for you other special events...

We really enjoyed our stay here. This is a well run and comfortable hotel with friendly attentive staff. The food was good too and vegetarian meals were provided for me as required. The original room provided was small but happily we were soon moved to a larger one which fine and peaceful. It was very hot when we stayed and the lack of air conditioning in the room did make it rather uncomfortable at night but a fan was provided. Bus stop is very close by and connects with trains to Konstanz. The ferry point is some 10 to 15 minutes away and is not directly served by the local bus service. We had some lovely trips and those to Rheinfalls, Zeppelin Museum and lake dwellings museum were especially good. So we would certainly recommend this hotel!

The hotel has been expanded over the years and new facilities added. This means that some rooms are off on their own spur and floor levels need watching.
Our room was a decent size but we were puzzled by the bathroom, which faced the main road, as it didn't have obscured glass so one needs to draw the curtains when using it!
The staff were helpful and the breakfast buffet good. Residents are given a local transport card which can be used for the 'bus and the stop is very close by. Once off the island it works further afield.
The position is fairly close to the middle of the town and there is good car parking opposite the hotel entrance.

I stayed at the Ganter Hotel & Restaurant Mohren 21-22 June 2022 and I can only say the one thing a hotel needs to fulfill it did not: A good night sleep. At the beginning of summer temperatures in the room were at 28-30 degrees Celcius (82-86 Fahrenheit) it was impossible to sleep. I cannot imagine when summer is there what its like. Terrible. There is no airconditioning and zero ventilation. After complaint at reception I was given some ventilator which my stacking tables I put in front of the window. Did not help. So, if you like a good cool room to sleep or relax during the day do NOT stay.

I can only give it a 1 star but I would avoid at all cost during summer. But even in winter if heating is on there is no ventilation in room. Terrible for health.

The staff did not care at all about me not being able to sleep. Just interested in the high room price.

Regarding the furniture it was OK. The shower in the bathroom is useless if you are taller as 1.85 meters. You have to be kind of on your knees which doesnt work as its tiny.

The restaurant is good however so if you are on reichenau island this is a food place to eat.

I stay over 150 nights a year in hotels. I can only say to avoid this one.

Regards
Chris Wiersma

Dear Hasse, to be honest, we are very disappointed about the path you have chosen and how consciously you want to portray us in a bad way. Posted straight to 3 different sites at once...incredible! We are very sorry that you couldn‘t sleep, but we do neither advertise air-conditioned rooms, nor is our team unwilling to assist guests as best they can for seeking solutions. That's why the fan was made available to you. The main building is the historical part of the Ganter Hotel & Restaurant Mohren and therefore the structural conditions do not correspond to those of a new building. It's a pity that you give such a seriously bad rating despite the praise of our kitchen and forniture. Such a rating does not meet our standards at all. In conclusion, we just want to say that the well-being of our guests is most important to us and that our prices are adapted to the actual market situation. We wish you a nice evening and hope that you will find a more suitable hotel for your next stay on the island of Reichenau. regards, Emanuel Weis Front Office Manager Ganter Hotel & Restaurant Mohren

The Reichenau island is a very historical place and worth a visit. The historical facade of hotel Mohren has been kept up but the hotel itself is up to very good standards. So are the prices especially during holiday season. The breakfast is really worth being mentioned.

This hotel is getting a 'very good' rather than an excellent for a couple of reasons. First of all, we arrived and were told that the door to our bathroom was broken and had been removed and there was no replacement available. We were offered another, much less nice room. We stayed where we were (because bathroom aside, it was a gorgeous room) and were eventually offered a €10 compensation for this. But we should have been offered a comparable room, or at least told before we arrived at the hotel that this might be an issue. The spa facilities are attractive but limited. I had a lovely 45 minute foot massage, and we later tried the steam baths and sauna. Too bad there didn't seem to be a jacuzzi or pool. Or towels in the spa. For quiet, relaxing day or two away, this is not a bad place to stay in Reichenau.

Hi Eric, thanks a lot for your reply and comments on tripadvisor. We are very happy that you have enjoyed a pleasant stay at our hotel. Regarding the bathroom door, we would like to explain that it should be replaced in the morning before your arrival. Unfortunately there was a delivery delay. We would like to apologize for the circumstances. You find a very clear description of our SPA facilities on our homepage, we do not offer any swimming pool, but luckily the lake is not far away from the hotel. Towels and bathrobes for SPA are available for free at our front desk as described in the guest information. We wish you all the best, Your team of Ganter Hotel & Restaurant Mohren

We went to Reichenau for a weekend getaway and landed at the Ganter Mohren Hotel. The appearance from the outside it pleasant and the hotel has a pleasant spa section but unfortunately this, by far, doesn't make up for the uncomfortable room we had (room number 412).
The room had a french bed (1.4. x 2.0 m) for two people which would be OK if it weren't that the bed was placed with one of the sides up against the wall so that the person sleeping on that side of the bed is trapped against the wall. The floor of the room was sloping to one side with a height difference of at least 5cm from one side of the room to the other, which always gave the feeling that you were falling over. But this would have been nothing had it not been for the fact that the ceiling was a mere 210-215cm high (no joke) !! It was like being in a mine. Luckily we don't suffer from claustrophobia !! Just to top off our inglorious stay, the room turned into a sauna during the night (N.B. the heating was off !) and we had to spend the night with the windows wide open, but sleeping was next to impossible. Things were not made any simpler by the motorbikers zooming up & down the street in front of our window throughout the night.
Both Konstanz & Reichenau are nice places to visit and I will surely go there again, but absolutely not in this hotel. It is definitely not worth the €125 per night we had to pay.

It took us forever to find this hotel driving from Zurich airport as it is not on the Satnav even on the local one in the car.
Checking in was very easy. The room on the 2nd floor was a nice size but the beds were extremely hard and the bathroom was a real let down. The shower cubicle is so small that a slight movement and you would hit the shower handle and switch it off. Turning it back on would mean cold shower for a bit.
They have no air conditioning or fans. It was extremely hot that week. If you opened the windows or patio door than there were all the mozzies to tackle.
They did not change the bedding all the time we were there. Really stingy with the shower gel and shampoo and no conditioner.
Breakfast is good but the same every day. Very good bread.
There is a charge for parking which they don’t tell you when you check in.
The bar shuts at 10 so you can’t get a late drink. They even lock the front door at 10pm.

We have recently returned from a two week stay at the Hotel Ganter. We had a brilliant time. The hotel was spotless, the staff were very friendly and helpful and could not do enough for us to ensure we had a nice stay. The food was plentiful and of good quality and there was lots of variety.. The location was idyllic and the hotel provided a free bus and train pass for the duration of our stay. This enabled us to explore the local area as well as many of the attractions around Lake Constance. We would love to come back again and stay.

Classic upper-class design. Nice breakfast. Good priced. Comfortable parking situation. Amazing views and nature surrounding the place. Recommend the Reichenau Strandbad. Spa does only include a sauna and steambath, which you have to call for in advance. Reception closes at 22:00 or so. But they care for you in case you arrive late. Everything else just perfect. I guess it's family owned. Thumbs up!
