When we reserved the accommodation we didn't expect that our stay would be so wonderful. We spent three nights at Akrogiali Pension but we would spend six if we could repeat. The location is perfect, ten meters away from the beach, surrounded by bars and restaurants that create a nice atmosphere at sunset. Nevertheless at night it is a quiet place and the sound of waves are so relaxing! Our room was nice and comfortable, even more beautiful than the pictures. The cleaning service was amazing, the room was cleaned every day and the cleaner was really kind. Finally, we need to talk about the kind service. They were always available and Maria was really helpful to us, she recommended us places to visit, restaurants... And she explained us the history of the pottery makers of platy yialos. We brought with us a beautiful decoration from her fathers shop. We hope to come back again! Xabier and Maialen

We stayed here for four nights in June. It is a lovely traditional place with its own pottery on site. It is only a few steps to a lovely beach, with plenty of tavernas for meals. The apartment was kept spotlessly clean by a lovely lady, who replenished our bread butter honey teas etc. everyday. The beds were very clean with what looked like brand new memory foam mattresses on a concrete base, which were very comfortable and not at all hot. The ensuite shower room is a little small but it is an old original building and I am sure they are limited in what can be achieved. In any case I would rather stay somewhere authentic than a chain style place. Our room had a lovely large balcony that had a sideways view to the sea. The rooms are situated around a pretty courtyard. There is a good bus service to the main points of interest on the island. A wonderful experience.

Stayed in a 2 bed, 1 bath apartment. Fab location, our balcony overlooked the beach which was all of a 5 second walk! There were 3 friends and one bathroom added time to getting ready (1st world problem). The bathroom was tiny and the shower was not fixed to the wall so not so pleasant. Kitchen was very well stocked and nicely traditional and we were provided with butter, honey and bread. This was replenished throughout our 4 night stay. Apt was cleaned daily and staff were very friendly. Sun beds and umbrellas were provided so no need for rental. Location was amazing. The beach was amazing, sandy and not busy - we went in mid-sept. Restaurants all around and quality was good. Two markets nearby and one of the bars near the beach market was rocking with beachgoers early evening. Good bus service to main towns. Would recommend but check out shower, sorry can't remember room no.

We would give Akro Gialaos a score of 6 for the location, 2 for the size of the bathroom and 5 for the sound of the waves at night while sleeping with the balcony doors open. Apart from sleeping in a small room with a comfortable bed to the lovely sound of the waves at night, it was great to be able to go down to the beach in 30 seconds from the room barefoot for a swim. There were some very nice views from the fair sized balcony, though you can be overlooked. There were some very nice touches such as the tap when you came up from the beach and the basin at the bottom of the stairs to rinse the sand of your feet again. There were sunbeds that you could take to the beach, but you had to walk along 50 metres either way as the water was close to the wall outside Akrogialos Despite the small size of the room there was a fridge and kettle and some nice Sifnos earthenware plates to make breakfast on to eat out on the balcony. The replenishing of the coffee and the tea seemed to be haphazard. The major downside was the incredibly small bathroom. One had to squat sideways on the loo and it was not until the third day that a shower curtain arrived. The room was very good value though for its location.
