Sherbourne House Hotel is a lovely family run hotel with staff who could not be more helpful or accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble, the Full English superb, tea & coffee piping hot, the rooms were all spacious, bright and clean and we had copious amounts of hot water.
We will certainly stay again when we come to Norfolk next time.

A very clean, warm and welcoming hotel, the staff are friendly and polite, and nothing is too much trouble. The couple that run it are lovely, breakfast was delicious, and very nicely cooked. The rooms are very loveingly decorated with ensuite and complimentary toiletries, plump and comfy beds, and tea and coffee making facilities. There is a large bright and sunny conservatory with relaxing sofas to enjoy your afternoon coffee, or there is a bar if you wish. Will definitely visit again soon.

I stayed here with my family and we stayed in the junior suite. It was a really big room that I couldn’t fault. The bathroom was shiny clean and they provided lots of toiletries. We didn’t hear any road noise and had the windows open and still it was silent.

There was a wide range of options for breakfast and the owner catered for all of our needs. A list of local restaurants was sent to us before our stay which was really helpful. When I mentioned it was my daughters birthday the owner bought her a card and sweets which was so thoughtful.

We had a great couple of nights here and I would highly recommend it.

My husband booked a three night stay for my birthday as a surprise. We checked in and paid in full in advance and were then shown to our the room which was spacious, tired on a very busy noisy road, there was a small bottle of prosecco and a small box of chocolates as a token.

We immediately approached Pauline and asked if we could move rooms not just because it was number 13 but mainly due to the road noise and overlooking a housing estate. We were shown other rooms one of which was next door on the same busy road and the other room which was currently occupied which we agreed to stay in the following night.

We decided that this establishment wasn't for us as it didn't live up to our expectations so we informed Pauline that we would not be staying the third night giving her 48hrs notice which she agreed to and advised she would refund us for the third night.

The following morning after getting very little sleep due to the constant road noise and the earplugs provided didn't help we then went down for breakfast which was good. Pauline approached us and informed us that she will not be giving us a refund for the third night. We could not believe what we were hearing, a waitress then shouted over "read the small print". Pauline raised her voice and told my husband to write down his bank details and told us she will refund us in full, we only expected one night, she was very confrontational and unprofessional towards us the paying guests, she then she told us to leave.

We could believe how she had treated us, l was very shaken and another guest had overheard. It was my birthday which was ruined and we went home.

My husband has since tried to get a refund for the third night which Pauline verbally agreed to. We stayed one night and were charged for three. I am reluctantly writing this review as we always like to support small businesses however Pauline is clearly in the wrong industry.

Overall a beautiful building on a very noisy road, good breakfast and sadly a dishonest owner.

A friendly welcome, sanitiser available, and a comfortable and very clean room which contained many considerate extras. Our room was quite near the road and some traffic noise cannot be avoided when the windows are open (it was a warm night). However, earplugs and sleep mask, single use, were provided. We slept very well. A good choice of beverages available in the room, replenished by request. Good quality bed linen and towels with very good en suite bathroom facilities. Excellent breakfast. Off road parking and a garden with seats. A perfect two night stay.

After reading good reviews on the website and looking through the menu and price list. We booked the whole of the venue out for a Birthday party.

We were told we would get a discount for booking all rooms ,function hall and bar. This wasn’t the case.

On the website it states that the buffet is £16.95 per head this is not true the price is actually £25.00 per head.

Initially we found Pauline the manager really friendly and helpful however when we had our final meeting with her regarding the food etc we were told the prices had gone up another £8.00 per head to £25.00 and the brochure prices on line were old and basically it was tough she wouldn’t budge on the price.
As it was too late to book another venue at such short notice we had to go ahead with our booking.

The buffet was disappointing for the money we thought it would have been much more but it was very basic.

As we had paid for the food it would have been nice to have been asked if we wanted any of the leftovers to take home, instead it was just taken away.

The bar ran out of beer after about an hour so they had to go to Sainsburys to restock then charged us marked up prices.

It felt like if you put a glass or plate down Pauline was behind you picking up and hovering around.

We had a couple of children there who kept being told off by her for moving cushions around they were only playing just being kids.
This place is definitely not child friendly!

At the end of the evening one of the staff members was patrolling the landing to see if anyone was up it was a bit like being at a boarding school.

In the morning one of our guests was accused aggressively accused of breaking a broken old curtain pole which was absolute nonsense.

If you are thinking of booking this place I would check the prices as they change them at the last minute and don't answer the phones so it’s too late to do anything or book any where else.

Some reasons explain why there will always be vacancies at Sherbourne House, even when you book late.
Right upon arrival, you are required to pay for the full stay, on a SumUp terminal (first clue).
The place is not busy (see below) yet you will be given the worst rooms, those on the road. Plan sleeping pills.
The establishment is clearly designated as a “hotel”, with tariffs not cheap at all, but the rooms will not be made up during the day.
Do not try to argue with the proprietor; obviously this person is well trained to have an answer to everything.
On a July night, we were the only customers, that was rather gloomy.
The place might have had some standing in the past but is now in decline.

Dear Traveler 12012442144, I am sincerely sorry to read your review and apologise for your bad experience with us. We are currently undergoing some changes in the hotel structure. This is not an excuse. However, I will, of course, investigate what happened. It would be brilliant, if you could let me have more details via sherbourne-house@proton.me so I have all the facts, which would help with the investigation and possible retraining of the manageress. Once again my sincerest apologies and I look forward to hearing from you.

We used this venue for a wake. All the staff were excellent, always helpful and going that extra mile. The food on the buffet was good. The hot food was hot and there was plenty of food to go around. We were a small group of 24 and we were given the dinning room, which also had a bar for those that required it, for our use. I am very happy to give this venue a five star rating. Thank you

We live locally. This was an 80th birthday treat. A local hotel with cooked breakfast. See website screenshot attached.
What we got as breakfast was a box as pictured delivered to our room in the evening. No explanation. No refund offered so we had paid for a delicious sounding meal but got a packed lunch in a cardboard box.

Dear Mr Atkins, Thank you for flagging up the message on the website. We are a totally new team that had to jump in, after the old team left a couple of months ago. There was no handover and hence we were not aware of all the websites the hotel is mentioned on and what they state. However, I did tell you about the boxed breakfast and think that 2 pieces of fresh fruit, Alpen muesli with milk, a protein bar and a cereal bar are not as bad as you state. I'm sorry you were looking forward to a cooked breakfast and were disappointed. We now have one person going through all the websites we can think of to correct the message. With kindest regards,
