I stayed one night int White Horse on a walking holiday in south Shropshire. I’d booked in advance as there wasn’t a lot of accommodation in Clun so I was taking a bit of a chance as pub b’n’b can be variable. For a cost of £60 per night including breakfast this proved to be excellent value. I arrived earlier than expected as the weather had taken a turn for the worse so I curtailed my walk and decided I could at least get lunch at the pub and wait there for my room to be ready. Actually it was available when I got there and by the look and the smell it was brand new with tasteful wooden finishes. I spent the rest of the day there as it didn’t stop raining and the food was good with veggie options. Beer is a speciality as it is brewed on site, and there are some excellent ales. Would highly recommend if you’re in these parts, to stay or just for a pint.

Loved our stay here. Our room was warm, spacious and tastefully furnished. We had a large tv with freeview. Our bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was huge with a bath and shower over the bath with a rainforest shower head as well as a normal shower head. There was some shampoo /bodywash included. Our little dog was also thought of there was a tub on top of the wardrobe with a pet bowl blanket and doggy bags too.
The room smelt lovely with a plug in and there was an air purifier too. Our room was exceptionally clean.
We ate downstairs in the pub, again it was very warm with a log burner and our evening meals were very nice indeed I had the lamb with red wine and rosemary the meat was very tender and locally sourced.
Breakfast is served between 8 am and 10 am in the morning there was cereal, yogurt fruit bread and butter / toast you toasted yourself with marmite marmalade and jams, tea and coffee also the breakfast menu we had the full English, again the bacon, sausage eggs and mushrooms were also locally sourced. My scrambled eggs were delicious but you can also have the eggs cooked to how you'd prefer.
We would definitely stay here again the staff were all very nice the locals looked like they were all having fun the accommodation was to a high standard inside the room and outside the room we had a staircase leading up to our room and there were also other rooms on this level but I saw rooms at a lower level so the pub could accommodate you if you have difficulty climbing the stairs just make sure that you mention this at the time of your booking, I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem . There's a few walks in and around Clun to walk with or without your dogs. There's a shop/mini mart literally outside of the pub and the castle is within walking distance of the Whitehorse.

I arrived early evening and was given a very warm welcome by the landlord . This is just the sort of pub but I look for off the beaten track and cosy.
Room was absolutely lovely spotlessly clean and ample tea and coffee with fresh milk provided at the bar in a glass milk bottle.
I took my pampered pooch with me and Although they didn’t know I was taking him there was a little box with dog bowls a towel and placemat, very much appreciated.
The pub was a typical old-fashioned country pub with lots of friendly guests inside who all spoke to me when I came down to the bar later.
Value for money fantastic would love to come back here for more great hospitality great food and welcoming locals.
Fantastic walks around this little village with a couple of quirky coffee shops and antique shops.

I have recently booked rooms at The White Horse Clun for our team who were working away from home, the accommodation was perfect, the bonus of take away food which is of a very good standard is perfect during the lock down for our team who are unable to eat at home whilst they are working away. The owners were above and beyond in their care of our team and due diligence was shown with regard to virus awareness and keeping my team safe. Highly recommended.

Fascinating. Clun is like a film set for a Dads Army episode. Great pub with a lively atmosphere and home brew beer.
The rooms were supplied with flannels, nice biscuits, a dog welcome pack with towel, rug and dog bowl and no nasty individual plastic shower and shampoo packages that pollute the environment. Instead we had refillable bottles. Jack offered to drive us to the next stage of Ofars Dyke
Will definitely visit again if we get a chance

I stayed here after a long day hiking the Shropshire Way, and was made most welcome. There is a warm and friendly atmosphere and the place is well run and obviously a hub for the local community.

Food and beers were excellent, and it was obvious that this is an extremely well run place. My room was very comfortable and spacious, with thoughtful features such as earplugs for this who sleep lightly!

Heartily recommended if you are visiting this lovely corner of Shropshire

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the White Horse, the room was comfortable and clean and the food was good. Jack was very hospitable and obliging, letting our daughter (en-route from Lands End to John O'Groats) do a load of washing and providing a secure shelteŕ for the cycles. The countryside around Clun is stunning, it was especially wonderful to see it in May.

We chose the White Horse after reading glowing on-line reviews and weren't disappointed. We decided on a visit to Shropshire for a couple of nights away with the pooch and the White Horse's dog friendly policy ticked the often tricky to find box....they even provide a welcome pack in the room. This is an old building so don't expect too many perfect right angles. Our room was huge, comfortable and with ample space for us and the dog. A good shower, tea and coffee in the room and plenty of wardrobe space all added to a long list of positives. As I said, this is an old building so don't come here expecting corporate slick. Its a cosy, old world establishment totally in keeping with the town and local environment . We had dinner both nights and the food and choice was excellent. Breakfast was also top drawer and served with great care and generosity (thank you Sandra). The White Horse has its very own brewery on site and at £3.10 a pint for a really fine Pale Ale you wont be going thirsty. Everyone involved in the running of this place knows what they are doing and deliver impeccable service with genuine warmth (thanks Jade)...you'll feel like a local and that's never a bad thing. They're delivering a great experience during exceptional times so deserve huge praise. The local area is stunning with plenty of easy walks on the doorstep. Jump in the car and a quick ten minute drive takes you up top of the Shropshire Hills for something a little more invigorating. Highly recommended.

This was our first visit to Clun so we weren't too sure what to expect but we had a great stay. The room was spotlessly clean, very well appointed and had everything we needed; we were especially pleased that it was cosy and warm as the weather outside was very chilly! Although our room was over the bar we didn't notice any noise from it at all (ear plugs were provided just in case but we didn't need them) and we had a really good night's sleep. We didn't dine there but the food seemed to be very popular and looked good. We can vouch for the beers - the ones we tried were excellent! The atmosphere in the pub was also really good - the staff and locals were very friendly so we quickly felt at home.
After a very relaxed breakfast the next day we had a walk around Clun and again everyone was very friendly. We hope to return to the White Horse when the weather is warmer and we can enjoy walking some of the beautiful countryside.
Many thanks to Jack, Hannah and the team, we look forward to seeing you all again.

We stayed in the Red Room, The room was large and airy with a double and single bed the double was really comfy, the room had everything we needed but if we had needed anything extra we were told to ask at the bar. The service was great as was the food ,and the beer from their own brewery was great too. Although we were above the bar and earplugs were supplied we did not need them. Once again i have to praise the staff where nothing was too much trouble. The locals were really friendly and struck up conversation as soon as we sat down. A great stay at a great pub with a great team. Best wishes for the future
