Lovely, welcoming host who even stuffed our wet walking boots with newspaper! Spacious, clean room with beautiful view. Nice village with great pub, the Farmer's Arms. Really good English breakfast before a long walk.

This was amongst one of our favourite accommodation stops on our Pennine Way journey from North to South. We had just walked the 18 mile trek from Clove Lodge to Swale Farm in Muker on a damp miserable day and we could not have asked for a more friendly welcome..." come in get your get your boots off and I will dry them off, can I get you a tea or coffee" were John &Joyce's welcoming words...truly appreciative and made us feel relaxed immediately. Later John showed us to our room...what a delight, really spacious, warm and with piping hot water...fantastic. A very comfortable nights sleep followed by a scrumptious home cooked breakfast set us up for the day and reluctantly we put on our boots and backpacks and waved goodbye as we continued on our way. Thank you John & Joyce, we will definitely return in the future. Angie & Paul (April 2014).

2 MTBrs arrived soaked and near exhausted to be met with true a Yorkshire welcome; very dry but with genuine warmth to match. Immediate offers of help with wet kit, boots, laundry, nothing was too much trouble for our hosts John & Joyce including an offer to use the telephone to check in with my kids (with a stern warning not to phone Oz!). What lovely people. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable and well stocked with quality tea, coffee & biscuits, all the little things that make a big difference. The breakfast was the best of our 5 day MTB circuit.
The Farmers Arms is a stones throw where the Theakston's Old Pec is the best I've tasted, also recommend the steak pie. Great pub, friendly & popular.
MTB, cycle, drive or walk; a perfect base to explore stunning Swaledale. I've promised to return with 'The Gaffer' (my Mrs) it's THAT good!
Thank Jon S

I thoroughly recommend this B&B especially to people walking the Coast 2 Coast and to anyone else too. We had a beautiful twin room with a really nice en-suite, lovely hot shower and the room lacked nothing, every thing we could have hoped for after a wet walking day (the only wet day out of 15 days walking). Joyce and John were so nice and nothing was too much trouble for them. Joyce took all our wet clothes and what a lovely surprise it was to find them all washed, dried and folded outside our door before we went to sleep that night and at NO extra cost (even when we offered). Our very wet boots were miraculously dried overnight and ready for another day's walking in the morning. The Yorkshire view out of our window was absolutely beautiful. Joyce served us a hearty breakfast at a time of our choice and even walked us down the path to show us the route to connect up with the C2C. This is a B&B I will always remember fondly. Thanks John & Joyce. Janet (Qld).
