Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were very satisfied with our stay in this hotel. We've been there during the hottest days in July and the room was nice due to air condition, bed was very comfortable, clean, staff very helpful. The breakfast was excellent buffet style and despite we arrived every day after 9am we still had big choice.
We would use it again.

In the crisis of all the lorries being stuck over the Christmas period of 2020, a German driver reached out to me stating that all he was in desperate need of a shower. He had been stuck for 4 days. I saw that his location was right next to the holiday inn. I reached out to the holiday inn and explained that there was a driver and some colleagues that was stuck on the motorway, in need of a shower. The holiday inn did not hesitate to help these drivers freshen up. They also supplied Hot food, crisps, biscuits, fruit, and unlimited tea and coffee for them too. They even sent staff down to the motorway to inform the drivers of what services they are offering. The Manager Howard is so kind, and generous. He and his staff helped these drivers massively and brightened up their Christmas.
Thank you so much to Howard and his team for making these drivers Christmas brighter! Without the holiday inn, the drivers wouldn’t have been able to have a shower, go to the toilet, or eat or drink! Thank you so much. The driver said that Ashford will always have a place in his heart.

A rather elderly and tired Holiday Inn with a charming team of young staff

This hotel is twenty mins from the Channel Tunnel so very convenient
Despite looking tired the bathroom was newly refurbished
The staff go out of their way to be helpful and friendly .
It’s a young crew who are well trained

The available breakfast is plentiful and GF catered for separately which is a bonus point .
There is also outside space for eating if required

Stayed here for one night prior to travelling to Switzerland by coach. I was greeted by friendly and helpful reception staff, and allocated a large airy room with a big comfortable bed. The room was equipped with tea & coffee making facilities, but no room safe or fridge. Internet in the room was good and the TV was connected to Sky.
Bar food was a good value choice. If not included in your booking, breakfast can be selected on booking-in at a worthwhile saving.

I stayed here with my mother over the Christmas period just gone as part of a package tour through Grand UK holidays.

The staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful and the rooms were nicely decorated and clean.

The food was good and plentiful and operated on a buffet system (apart from main meals like Christmas Day lunch).

There were one or two areas that needed a little bit of attention, but it's a busy hotel and wear and tear happens!

On the whole, a very good place to stay for a few days.

Stayed here again for an overnight before heading back to the Continent. Bit of a wait at reception because the only person on duty there was busy elsewhere, but not much of a problem for us.
The room was clean and spacious, but we were near the end of the wing closest to the motorway, so for the first time in all our stays here we had a bad night because of the traffic noise.
We were hoping to nip over to the pub across the parking for some dinner, but they were closed so we ended up using the hotel restaurant - the menu was a bit limited as they had run out of several things, but we both had a very good steak. Service at dinner was commendable - very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Breakfast was standard fare and did the job.Checkout was quick, efficient and friendly.

We picked the hotel for its very close location to a BBQ course I was attending. having never stayed in a holiday inn before went open minded. I must say we enjoyed the stay, very friendly staff from reception to restaurant. The room was of a good size and clean and tidy with all the normal things in place. Abundant Hot water and powerful shower and the sleep experience was also good a nice firm mattress and slept really well. The breakfast was a self service, from full English and a full continental selection. Greeted to your table and an explanation of how it all worked. It was great to see even black pudding being available on the breakfast buffet.(not seen to often in the south). even the toaster produced toast from one run through rather than the multi times ones often seen.
We ate only one evening meal in the restaurant and it was enjoyable, My wife had a smoked salmon starter whilst I had a 3 cheese mushroom which was very tasty. Unfortunately my wife's first choice of main was not available so we both had the butterfly chicken which was cooked well and thoroughly enjoyable, the meal was a reasonable size but the chicken could have been a little more generous. options of sauces to go with the grills were available and we tried the stilton and the red peppercorn one, both of these lacked real flavour.
But the overall experience was very good and we would certainly return.

Worst night of my life. My husband and I booked into this hotel to attend a leaving do for the Company Secretary of his firm. We had a good night out in Ashford and came back to the hotel. We went to the bar for a nightcap and joined a group of Americans. We finished our drink, the Americans left and we fancied one more. My husband went to try and find the barman. He could not find anyone, and spent about 10 mins looking in vain for someone to serve us. In the end we helped ourselves to a drink and continued to wait for the barman so that we could pay. Eventually he came back with another man, started shouting at us for 'stealing' (there was never any intent not to pay, and after all the hotel had swiped our credit card already). The two hotel employees could hardly speak English had a very aggitated attitude which we could not understand. We offered to settle up, but the next thing we knew the Police had arrived and arrested us for burglary! We thought it was a terrible mistake and would be sorted out at the Police station. Unfortunately once at the Police station 'proceedures' took over. We spent 16 hours in solitary confinement in separate police cells - it was the most unpleasant experience I have ever had. Eventualy at 4pm the following day we were released with no charge and apparently the duty manager of the Holiday Inn did not know we were there and did not wish to press charges. However the Holiday Inn still charged us for a full night AND breakfast - even though it was their incompetent staff who had obviously not been doing their job and had panicked and called the Police. As paying guests I do not expect to be treated this way - if the bar service had been adequate in the first place it would never have happened. Even the Police admitted it was heavy handed and the Solicitor confirmed that in the eyes of the law no crime had been committed as we never had dishonest intent. I will never stay at a Holiday Inn again as they obviously employ their staff for their cheapness and not their ability to do their job or their customer facing skills. I still cannot beleive it happened, and still have nightmares a week later. Also when we checked the crdit card statement we discovered the money for the room had already been deducted on the day of booking, 2 days prior to our actual stay.

This hotel is right by the M20 and noise can be a problem. Unfortunately, it is miles from the nearest junction so this is a case of having the worst of both worlds.

Rooms are quite nice and some are positively spacious. Food in the hotel is appalling (don’t believe the sign that tells you that the restaurant is open in the evenings – it is not). Instead, residents are sent to a near-by pub (I am not making this up), which produces some of the worst food it has even been my misfortune to eat.
