Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went for a birthday lunch. No vegan food on the website so I phoned them. "Oh the website is a bit out of date, we've loads of vegan dishes." Nothing on the menu when we got there though, all they could offer was a vegan curry. This was delicious, and served with tiny onion bhajis, chutney, and a poppadom. But where was the protein? As a vegan I get really tired of being given the meat eater's meal, without the meat. (At the meat eater's price though! Celery and butternut squash are pretty cheap ingredients.) Please get a vegan cookery book for the chef. It's a lovely pub, with a fantastic garden, and the food was beautifully presented, so it's a shame I have to give it an average score.

Lovely Inn old early decor Antiques and great atmosphere Staff are a joy and the rooms are lovely and cosy. Breakfast Superb. The Inn is in a great location just 2 miles from the A303 so easy to get to about everywhere.

Drinks in the bar and a meal in the restaurant were good, but the accomodation was disappointing. The room was not clean with dust balls under the bed, a filthy rug, dead insects in the basic bathroom and a half dead plant on the window sill sitting on a plate of brown stagnant water. Not acceptable. The staff were pleasant but I’d rather have had a clean room.

The best burger I have ever eaten - huge and the best quality meat. Lots of cheese and back bacon. All with smashing chips, coleslaw and garlic bread. Not sure how I ate it all but thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you and cant wait to come again!

Stayed here for one night while on a cycling tour. The pub is wonderful - beautiful setting, lovely garden, quirky furnishings and lovely food. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Had a great stay. Special mention for the crab Mac and cheese. I’ll be trying that at home!

Called in on my own while working away from home. Bar tender asked if I was staying, and when I said not, I was told they had technical issues in the kitchen so they could not do extra food. Bar tender was polite enough but I suspect he didn't want a solo eater taking up a table that could do more covers, could be wrong! Didn't feel welcome anyhow.

I don't like to leave poor reviews, especially without even going to the place but had to on this occasion. Booked to stay for a night on the way to Devon via a 3rd party site. Attempted to reach the Inn via message/email and via phone on separate occasions to confirm details and latest... no response. With a week to go until the booked date, decided to cancel especially given the recent concerning reviews.

Food is generally good quality and beer garden lovely but very unhelpful landlords and unhappy staff. Such a shame as place could be amazing! More worried about lighting candles and firepit than customer experience!!

Pub was okay, smelled a bit, but nice location and would be nice in summer in the garden. Was having a nice time, until I heard someone who I had seen behind the bar earlier in the day verbally abusing a woman in the pub. This included vile language such as calling her a “c*nt”, questioning her right to disability allowance, and all manner of other things. The bar staff in question was an older woman with grey hair, but I don’t have her name unfortunately. In 2023, I would like to think that they wouldn’t accept ableist people who are capable of such disgusting abuse as staff. I know one could argue that your life outside work shouldn’t affect your position within, however, when you’re going from behind the bar to abusing someone in front of it, it’s disgusting to be honest.
