My husband and I spent three days of our honeymoon here, and Island Plantation is now in our hearts for good! What an amazing place and location. Also, the staff is so sweet and helpful. The location is remote- which we loved and dining at the on site restaurant was wonderful!

Dear Camper725911, Hello and sunny greetings from all of us here at Island Plantation! Thank you so much for taking the time to tell others about your great experience with us! I am so happy we were able to be a part of your marriage experience (honeymoon-what an important time!). I am also glad all of us at IP were kind and helpful. We really try to help our guests when we can, as we love showing others the beautiful nature Bocas has to offer. I’m so sorry you were not served almond milk during your stay! We actually do, indeed, have this (and soy) in the refrigerator (we host many yoga groups and many drink this). I’m wondering, did you ask the staff? If there was a problem and someone told you we did not have it, I am terribly sorry. I’m also sorry you were somewhat disappointed with our coffee choice. We obtain our coffee from a grower/roaster in Boquete (“Palo Alto High-End”) on the mainland and we like it as (we feel) it is not over roasted, but still is very strong in flavor. Also, we have an espresso/cappuccino machine that utilizes Italian roasted coffee (Lavassa) for our guests that require something a bit stronger. I am sorry once again and will have a meeting with our team to remind staff to share with our guests our choices. We are big coffee drinkers too so we want to make sure the delicious coffee of Panama is known to our guests. Once again Camper625911, thank you so much for staying with us and for your wonderful comments and suggestions! Sincerely, Christopher Bybee-Owner

This place is incredible! The location is beautiful, with the jungle on one side of the road and the beach on the other. The rooms are gorgeous, decorated well with a ton of space and even private patios and hammocks overlooking the beach in some rooms. The beds are comfortable

We were lucky with our timing leaving a few days before the polar vortex hit Chicago. I was concerned about the weather in Bocas as most websites were showing consistent rain/clouds for the 8 days we were there. The first day was overcast and slight rain so we settled in with

Dear SFR15, Hello there from Island Plantation! I am so glad you made it home ok and I am also very happy you were able to “ride out” that cold vortex with US instead of back home :-) Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed review about your holiday in Bocas and with all of us at Island Plantation! It was a sincere pleasure hosting you and your family. I am also so happy that the entire Island Plantation team took such good care of you! We really do try to create a family atmosphere. People ask me why I do not have kids. My answer is, “actually, I have 18 of them (my employees!)”. At times I am thier father, mother, doctor, psychologist, etc. but it is very rewarding for us here and I think, that transcends with the way the team interacts with our guests. I am so happy they made you feel that you a part of our family here in the jungle! Once again SFR15, thank you so much for sharing your experiences and we look forward to seeing your brother and hopefully you again sometime soon here at Island Plantation!

OMG. This. Place. Is. Heaven. I sit here reflecting on our four nights at Island Plantation and struggle with where to start. Here it goes... We booked the Canopy suite, and we were pretty blown away by its beauty. No air conditioning as they are off the grid, but the nights

Dear Friends, Wow! Now you left ME without words! Thank you SO SO much for your kind and wonderful review. It really was so fantastic to have you stay with us and we truly enjoyed all the conversations we had. The IP staff really IS hand-picked and I do believe we have some of the best and nicest people in the industry here in Bocas. And you're right, it is very much a part of the company culture to be genuine and enjoy real interaction with guests while at the same time be discreet and non-intrusive. IP is all about having a great time in a setting that feels like being amongst old friends or loving family. We are so so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and truly hope to see you again on your next Bocas trip! Big hugs from all of us!

When we first arrived we both thought we were too far out of town(20mins $3.50 bus) but after a few minutes we never bothered to think about leaving. By far the nicest hotel, pool and beach bar around us. I would highly recommend anybody coming to Bocas to stay here. Even all

Dear Dustinbb44, Hello and sunny greetings from Island Plantation! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with us in the TripAdvisor community! I am so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and realized being away from town was not so bad after all :-) Thank you so much for your kind words about Island Plantation! It’s wonderful comments from guests like you that make it all worth it! Although we are 20 minutes from town, this allows us to really be in nature sourrounded by the incredible animals (Monkeys, sloth, parrots, etc.) as well as the amazing plants and flowers that just cannot survive in populated areas. Just this morning we had a family of Howler Monkeys in the trees near the pool area! With the option of two bars and two sperate restaurants on our property as well as other neighborhood venues within walking distance, there are lots of drink and dining options. Also there are plenty of activities to do on and close to the property (hikes, biking, swimming, etc.) to keep oneself busy without needing to go to town should you wish not to. You are correct- the area does now have a bus that runs every forty minutes back and forth to town should you wish to visit the rest of the island, or we can hire you a taxi. Once again Dustinbb44, thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts and we hope to see you back at Island Plantation once again! Sincerely, Christopher-Owner Island Plantation

HI....there are no water taxis close to this property.....you will need to use a truck taxi or local shuttle down to another location on the coast....or back to town if you want to go to another island by water taxi. Have fun!

Eric's reply is great- the only thing I would add is sometimes the flights can get delayed in and out so don't plan any international flights too close to your Air Panama Bocas flight. Our last trip there the 6pm flight didn't leave until 9pm (so we walked into town and had dinner). From what I hear this is a common occurance. Plus you have to drive from Panama City airport (PTY) to small domestic Albrook Airport on the other side of Panama City so depending on traffic that can take 30 min to over an hour. So just don't book your international and domestic flights close together. We always fly in and enjoy Panama City (Casco Viejo- 'Old Town' is fun) for the night then take the Bocas flight the next day (try to arrive in daylight to Bocas since you'll want to see it all flying in and driving to resort). Then we plan a night in Panama City again before our international flight back just in case there are flight delays or cancellations.

I am sorry, I ate at the restaurant a couple of times, did not stay there. I stayed at Oasis Bluff Beach.

Bluff Beach is on the windward side of the Island. The degree of wave activity vary throughout the year. It is difficult to say what is will be like in July. Generally speaking, the calmest time of the year are March-April, and August-November.
