Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We chose this hotel to celebrate my wife's birthday celebration. Hotel was set in very lovely grounds and a very lovely location near Kettering. The 2 days we stayed were very relaxing. The room was very spacious and comfortable, especially for my wife who has a mobility disorder. The restaurant staff were very friendly and the food was amazing. The only 'fly in the ointment' throughout our stay was that the electronic room key mechanism did not function, so we had to always be let into our room by member of the reception staff. The room key malfunction was well known prior to our arrival but despite that they still went ahead and allocated the room to us. I asked for my wife and I to be transferred to a new room but was told no other rooms were available during our stay! I understand that during the week the hotel is mainly occupied by corporate clients and they want to maintain their business but priority and consideration should have been given to my booking, considering it was made many months ago. This was very disappointing for us and it did place a negative view on our visit. No compensation was offered either.

The parking was close to the hotel. Check in was efficient. The room (4) was very nice. Clean and recently decorated including the bathroom which was spotless. Nice walk-in shower. There were two glass bottles of water and good quality biscuits in the tea tray. Lots of quality detail. I had dinner in the restaurant which was busy for a Wednesday, and I can see why. My meal was excellent; well cooked scallops, perfect lamb. Caitlyn in the restaurant is lovely, her friendliness added to the experience. This is a hotel that I will go back to.

Bar the spa which was excellent there is much more room for improvement. Given room 14. No WiFi as an annex room with low roof at the end of the hotel. One bar or none. The roof is about 5ft 6 on entering so you have to duck to get in. When booking nobody mentioned a wedding party so the resteraunt was fully booked the second night meaning venturing into Kettering. ( absolutely awful ). Building itself was lovely but for the money bang average. Highlight was the hydropool and spa area. Had a meal on the Friday opted for 2 burgers. Came out pretty pink but the waitress said that's how they do them. Overall had better for less money.

A very grand building with style and elegance whilst managing to hold onto a relaxed easy charm. The bedroom was really well thought out with separate lounge area and bathroom with both shower and roll top bath. Excellent food in the restaurant and attentive friendly staff. Good car parking which is free.

Excellent waiting staff but food lets it down. Sunday lunch. Beef cut far too thick and very tough. Also vegetables including roast potatoes undercooked. The crème brûlée however was delicious. The setting is really lovely so hope this was just a blip.

Decided to go out for a meal between Xmas and new year, and was glad we did. The food was cooked perfectly with a decent portion size. The staff were attentive without being over bearing, both Emily on the bar and our server, Winter. Once again The Vines has surpassed our expectations and will be seeing us again soon.

Lovely venue, great staff, wonderful food, beautiful decorated bedroom. Full of charm, tastefully converted outbuildings. English breakfast was lovely albeit the selection for continental could have been better. Celebrated a birthday here and would love to return.

Despite only living 3 miles away this is not somewhere we would ever really have thought to come for a meal. We had a voucher to use so we booked for my husbands birthday But we will certainly return. Couldn’t fault it. Meal was superb and the friendly staff, second to none. The young lady behind the bar was very friendly and obviously enjoyed her work. The waitress in the restaurant couldn’t have done more, going out of her way to meet our every request. Lovely surroundings and despite being busy was relatively quiet and very relaxing. Highly recommend. We will return . Wonderful evening .

A interesting hotel with lots of pictures all over the walls in the dining room. Very spacious restaurant, with helpful staff. I enjoyed sea bream with a tasty risotto and friends enjoyed very large portion of fish and chips. All food hot, nicely presented. Thought price of dessert was expensive, but a good selection.
