My wife and I were on a 9 day birding tour of the Magic Birding Circuit that included lodges in Quito, Tandayapa, Milpe and Hollin. The Magic Birding Circuit provides opportunities to observe and photograph birds directly on the grounds of the lodges as well as extensive trail systems for finding birds that do not come to feeders. We were...

My goal was to see and photograph as many new bird species as possible and I found the BEST at the San Jorge Eco-lodges. During the day, skillful, knowledgeable guides lead birders and photographers to the best spots, but the lodge also offers delicious Ecuadorian meals and accommodations worthy of a hotel in the city. Dr. Jorge Cruz has created...

Loved our stay at this lodge with our birding group. As your driver takes you up the steep hill and you hike to the rooms and dining - take into account that all this magnificent lodging was carried up those hills by hand and mules. No vehicles were used to take all those supplies up there to build this lodge....

Beautiful, well appointed, luxurious rooms in secluded setting. Excellent birding opportunities. Natural building materials added to the unique architecture. We would have loved to stay longer in this location!

This was my favorite lodge! I took birding pictures out my room window. The lodge is set in the sanctuary, where birds are everywhere. Hummingbirds come close for pictures. The lodge has views all around for watching birds. The guides are out to help you find and id the birds. The rooms are very nice, with new baths. The dining...

Loved everything about this lodge. The rooms are spacious and clean and the views are amazing!! Food was delicious and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Went on a great hike through the forest. The view from the restaurant is also incredible. I would definitely recommend this to whoever loves a relaxing and adventurous getaway.

I had a wonderful experience staying at George's various lodges around Ecuador! The lodge in Tandayapa was definitely one of my favorites! The hospitality, the excellent food, and the amazing views were some of the highlights of my stay.

This was the second lodge in our Magic Circle Birding Tour. We stayed here three nights. The room was superb. It was very comfortable and has a great view and lots of windows. The birdwatching areas and dining area are on a different (higher) level. The bird feeders were plentiful and attracted a lot of hummingbirds and other species. We...

The most beautifull lodge of the three I have visited. Very good food and service and at a beautifull location. Every day I walked in the forest next to the lodge and watched many birds. Lots to see. I had a very good guide who showed me many bird species. At the feeders near the restaurant I saw toucanets, hummingbirds,...

We stayed at Tandayapa as part of a package organised by San Jorge which also involved stays at the lodges at Quito and Milpe. The journey from Quito to Tandayapa took all day as we were looking at various locations on the way for birds and other wildlife. Normally my wife hates these stop start journeys where you all pile...
