Milaidhoo Maldives is a boutique luxury resort in the Baa Atoll UNESCO biosphere reserve, close to Hanifaru Bay, 126km north west of Male. It's perfect for nature lovers as its own coral reef, which completely circles the island, is a protected area and noted as an outstanding snorkelling and diving site in its own right. The tiny beautiful island, abundant with tropical greenery, measures just 300 mby 180m and is fringed by white soft deep sand beaches. Designed for couples and honeymooners, Milaidhoo welcomes guests aged nine and above. Offering barefoot informality, each of the 50 spacious air-conditioned villas has its own private freshwater pool on the sundeck and opens up 180 degrees to allow the natural beauty of the island into the villa. Clever design ensures all villas have ocean views. The custom-made furnishings and thoughtful designs are Maldivian inspired, from natural wooden floor to the thatched roof all made by master craftsmen specifically for Milaidhoo. An island host is on hand to ensure every detail of the stay is perfect, from arranging spa appointments and excursions to ensuring the private wine fridge in the villa is stocked with the guest's personal favorites. The room rate includes breakfast as well as wi-fi, laundry, kayaking, use of snorkelling equipment and in-villa treats such as a bottle of champagne and tropical fruit basket on arrival as well as a daily evening turn-down with a gourmet gift from chef. The three restaurants and two bars are designed to appeal to the senses, offering outstanding dining in wonderfully informal settings. No shoes are required. Food lovers will enjoy the Milaidhoo Gourmet Plan, which is a dine-around meal plan offering daily breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as international and premium brands of spirits, beers and cocktails from a selection as well as fresh juices, soft drinks, mineral water, teas, coffees, milkshakes and smoothies and a premium selection of wines, hand-picked by the sommelier all day long. The over-water spa has four treatment suites and complimentary yoga and meditation classes take place in the open air over-water pavilion. For romantics, Milaidhoo is the perfect choice: from candlelit dinners to scented baths, from flower petal bedecked beds to the perfect place to say "I do'. Sports activities include sailing, catamarans, kayaks, a 24-hour gym, yacht trips, dolphin cruises, whale shark spotting, manta ray watching, conservation activities with the resident marine biologist, fishing, diving, snorkelling, and an open-air infinity pool. Milaidhoo is reached by a scenic 35-minute seaplane ride from Male International Airport. Airport transfers are provided by the hotel at an extra charge. The transfer process is smooth and easy with the resort's representative meeting each guest at the airport and guiding them to the private lounge where they can rest and recharge to await their transfer.

We visited Milaidhoo over a 10-day period in June 2022 for our 25th year anniversary. Being from the United States, this was quite a daunting booking. Despite our decades of travel both inside and outside the U.S., we did now know, nor had we ever met, anyone from the U.S. that had been to the Maldives, and we were unsure what to expect. Booking a vacation of that distance and at that budget level is a bit unnerving to say the least, thus perhaps explaining the small group of visitors to the Maldives originating from the U.S. If you are stateside, or really anywhere else, and are curious how this destination was selected and what our experience was like, as well as answers received to many, many questions, this review may be helpful. We’ll briefly describe how we picked Milaidhoo based on what our personal wish list consisted of, and then what the experience was ultimately like (spoiler, the actual experience exceeded every expectation we could have imagined, and if you go there, you’ll understand why – however, to describe all of what Milaidhoo is in an online review is quite impossible).

HOW WE PICKED MILAIDHOO
The Maldives was selected for our 25th anniversary as means to tick off a bucket list item. Simple as that really. That decision being made fairly quickly, we then spent months researching Male and the surrounding islands (e.g. weather, what months to go, culture, language barriers, accommodations, staff and resort reputation, snorkeling experience, food, and on and on and on). We basically read every single review on every website that had them (no joke, pretty much every single review ever written on perhaps 50 properties). We also joined forums and asked lots of questions, created pros/cons lists and investigated and summarized minuscule details of each property before narrowing our destination to about five islands – many or all of those likely the same few islands that you have seen mentioned over and over in your own research to this point. From there, we obviously ended at Milaidhoo, and the primary reasons for that, based on personal preferences (personal preferences obviously can differ markedly, but the information herein hopefully will be helpful in any case).

Primarily, we wanted a quiet experience. We did not want crowds of people, jet skis, parasailing, glass bottom boats, loud music and a party atmosphere, but rather the exquisite beauty of the Maldives combined with the ultimate in tranquility and peacefulness. Peace and quiet in the ultimate landscape was the highest priority. We also consciously picked a location where young children were not present (we have children and love them dearly, but wanted more of a couples experience). We wanted 5-star accommodations, food and service, and preferably, though not a deal breaker, a resort that was privately-owned, vs. something held through a large chain. We wanted our own private pool, and private access to the Indian Ocean for snorkeling and swimming. We do not scuba dive, and thus this review is not a great resource for that population as we did not do any research on best dive locations, although just from our research it seems this is a top-10 destination at a minimum. Beyond that, we’ll defer to the diving experts, as we are certainly unqualified there. And lastly, we required that a very, very high percentage of the guests of that resort, that seemed to exhibit similar desires to ours in online reviews, had a 5-star experience and suggested the location as one they would visit again. Ultimately, if you do that work, you’ll most likely come (as we did) to around three or four properties that appear to fit most or all of those criteria. From there, we spent another chunk of time summarizing the smallest details of each resort, and ultimately that led us to Milaidhoo.

OUR EXPERIENCE
As indicated above, we are seasoned travelers, and we tend to allocate our discretionary funds to plan amazing trips. We like to ‘do them right’, and spend our money on experiences that we’ll remember for a lifetime. And so, as an unfortunate byproduct, we are accustomed to having the highest expectations for our trips. Despite those high expectations, and all the angst we had for months prior to departing for Milaidhoo, from the very moment we stepped onto this island we were provided with the most incredible, unexpected and thoroughly enjoyable experience we have ever had on any vacation in our decades of travel. Naturally, it’s impossible to compare a Maldives vacation to, say, a trip through Tuscany, or a stay in the beauty of Ireland, or an African safari, etc. Those are different vacations in completely unrelated experiences. However, Milaidhoo surpasses by leaps and bounds any trip we’ve made to any beach/ocean destination in the past 25 years. And that being said, we view the 10-days we just spent on that tiny island as perhaps one of the best, if not the best destination vacation we have ever experienced.

First, the lesser important items. The rooms are expansive --- we stayed in both an ocean villa and a beach villa (we split the week as many travelers do here). Both villas have private pools, private water access, beautiful and well-maintained rooms, bathrooms, pantries/bars and patios, and likely, views like you’ve never seen in your life. The view is perhaps not unique to Milaidhoo --- the Maldives is a different kind of beautiful. Beach vacations, sunsets and beauty that we thought could never be topped, were all completely blown away by what the Maldives offers. You pay for that beauty with long days of travel to/from the Maldives (more on that in a moment), but for us, with a stay of at least 7 – 10 days minimum, the payback is certainly there many times over. Despite villas being in proximity to each other, particularly with the Ocean Villa’s, we never saw or heard a neighbor. The ocean is a great sound barrier, and further, the villas are thoughtfully designed with privacy and peacefulness in mind. Waves, turtles, and dozens of species of reef life all are steps from our private pool and patio, and make that crystal clear turquoise water extra welcoming. Additionally, we found that the guests at Milaidhoo, almost without exception, had the same desires we had --- to be alone with each other, to enjoy the beauty of the Maldives and the Indian Ocean, and to find that perfectly serene experience. It was alone time with each other to the extreme, and a forced relaxation that is welcomed and unlike anything we’ve experienced. If you are looking for loud gatherings, parties at the bar at night, blasting resort music, etc, then this is most certainly NOT the resort for you. If you are looking to get away to an absolutely magical place and let the cares of the world melt away, Milaidhoo may be the getaway for you.

The island itself is equally beautiful and peaceful at all corners, and can be walked in about 15 minutes --- it’s not large, but every inch is thoughtfully dedicated to everything you may need for serenity. There’s a snorkeling and dive shop that is expansive, a small gift shop, a wonderful walking path around the island, and a spa that you definitely won’t want to miss. Given the size of the island, the number of villas/guests is quite small compared to other properties, and that just adds to the feeling of being on an incredible island all by yourself. In mid to late June, when we were there, the resort is between 50 – 70% full, and at any location you may be on that island with that capacity, you are on average either alone, or one of a half dozen people, other than breakfast where we typically saw the most people – up to a dozen some mornings. The weather that time of year is mostly sunny to partly cloudy, typically with rain for an hour or so each day. We had days it was beautiful all day, and days it was overcast most of the day, and both were a welcomed change and had zero impact on the scenery. We did the ‘half board’ plan, which included free breakfast/dinner each day, excluding alcoholic drinks. The food is absolutely 5-star. The breakfast buffet, which others in the reviews do mention, is beyond words. Of all the high class resorts we’ve stayed, we’ve never seen anything like that. There are several lunch/dinner restaurants to choose from --- Ocean, which is the main dining (“main dining” sounds so plain, and that is most certainly not what you get --- Ocean is 5* food with views that will leave you breathless). Daminda Piyal Perera, the chef, is one of the more talented chefs we’ve come across, and his dishes are only equaled by his smile and friendly demeanor as he frequently greets the guests at the restaurant each night. He’s the personality and type of talent you’d expect at a Michelin star restaurant. Then there’s Ba’theli, which is more authentic Maldivian food, 5*, on the famous wooden boats built to be fixed in the lagoon, where AJ and Baby (most staff have nicknames and we’ll use those often in this review) had us laughing each night with their stories. At Ba’theli you’ll often see eagle rays, sting rays and nurse sharks cruising below your dinner table (nurse sharks are a docile shark and not any threat to humans, as is true for the other few species of sharks you may or may not see in the Maldives reefs). Believe me - we have a strong fear of sharks, and it was so safe at Milaidhoo that we actually went out snorkeling looking for them --- unfortunately did not end up catching any on our GoPro. Then there’s the Shoreline Grill, which is hibachi on steroids with chef Aaron --- a true master chef who makes everything he cooks from scratch, including sauces, soups and the like. He’s a real talent, and impressive to watch. We’ve all been to the hibachi restaurants in the United States, and as you might agree, they tend to be quite similar. This is not your standard U.S. hibachi. As with most things at Milaidhoo, we were blown away by the talent of the chef and the service of the restaurant’s smiling staff. For lunch and bar, we preferred Compass, where Asanka frequently came to us with drinks served in ways we’ve never seen before. We had drinks served in ice sculptures that took Asanka a great deal of time to assemble (for many, he started them hours or days before he served them to us), but even the ones that came in glasses were worthy of multiple photos before drinking. And the staff at Compass, Lucky, and Miyuru are truly lovely people that had us smiling and laughing as we watched the vibrant sunsets over the Indian Ocean. And then there’s your personal butler, and that promise is kept in every regard. Any need, question, and so forth is addressed in minutes by a text or call to your personal butler (they provide the phone, and also use WhatsApp), and you’ll see that individual when you arrive and likely multiple times per day as you go about your day on the island. Abdulla, our butler, has been at Milaidhoo since they opened, and he is one of the kindest, most helpful and most responsive individuals we’ve ever met. Your butler will check in with you to be sure your every need is met, and that your experience is everything you want it to be. You need something or have a question – you get a personalized response, often in person, in minutes. Abdulla won our hearts and is truly one of the gems of the island. The individual that made up our room multiple times per day, Hakeem, is also one of the nicest individuals we’ve ever met, and his care of us and our room was top shelf in every way, including messages written in flowers and leaves on our bed or in the bath many nights, funny animals made with towels that posed on the corner chair, among other smiles we received from Hakeem.

And that all brings us to perhaps one of the more surprising and incredible things about Milaidhoo. As mentioned above, we have high expectations. We stay in nice places, and we love great service that creates memories we’ll have forever. We honestly thought we had seen it all, and that there were limitations as to how good service could get. Everyone copies each other, and some do it a little better than others, and that’s all you’ll ever get absent a few surprises you’ll get here and there at a dinner, an event or some venue. That belief we held was completely shattered at Milaidhoo. Honestly, it opened our eyes to a whole new realm of possibilities that resorts have when it comes to providing incredible experiences for their guests. We don’t know who will read this review, if anyone, nor where you may have been and the experiences you may have had. However, as seasoned travelers, we are quite confident that those of you that do go to Milaidhoo and come back to this forum will absolutely agree --- the service you get on that island is extraordinary, to the point you are constantly being astonished even if you are among the hardest to please. I suspect if we go back, Asanka, Lucky, the chefs, greeters, servers and others will have a more difficult time surprising us (and unfortunately we’ve been completely ruined when it comes to what we perceive as great service on any future vacation we may take!), but the attention to detail is beyond impressive. Over the early days of your stay you’ll find most everyone you see at meals and in the more commonly visited areas knows your name, what kind of drinks you like, what kind of food you prefer, what your interests are, your dog’s name, your favorite treat, and so on. Please don’t get the sense this is in any way obtrusive --- it’s completely professional, exquisitely done, and just amazing to witness from the guest point of view. On their website, we recalled on our plane ride home that we had read when booking our trip that Milaidhoo considers their guests “family”. Quite honestly, and perhaps shame on us, we sort of blurred over that as a typical claim that any resort might make, and one quite difficult to fulfill. We’ll tell you, you will most certainly circle back to that website quote during and after your stay, and it could not be more true that we were part of their team, their family and shared laughs and experiences together that we’ll just never forget. There are team members at Milaidhoo that cried when we left (as did we), and many Milaidhoo staff have become friends that we hope to keep in contact with for the rest of our lives. What an incredible and special place the owners and management have created – kudos to you for that. The beauty and quality of this resort are enough to be successful, but the people that work at Milaidhoo, and how they go about their work, make this island a hidden gem that we feel very lucky to have uncovered.

THE VERDICT
Yes, it’s a long distance from the U.S., and includes likely a connection through Doha or Dubai, followed by a connection to Male, then likely a Seaplane to Milaidhoo. That alone will be enough to turn many people away. The flight was most certainly long. The Seaplane we thoroughly enjoyed and it was quite an amazing (and very safe/professionally run) experience. If you are someone that has trouble sitting for 10+ hours at a time on a plane, or that just despises airline travel, the nearby Caribbean is perhaps for you. But, if you want to try something quite different --- a real experience and, in our opinion, beauty that surpasses anything you’ll find in the Caribbean, do some research on the Maldives, and in particular see what you can learn about Milaidhoo. And when you come back, take the time on the 10+ hour flight as we did and write a review that honestly and plainly lays it out for others in the U.S. We appreciate those that did that for us, as they helped us make a great decision that fit us perfectly. The more of us that do that and share our knowledge and what we found, the easier it will be for someone to take the leap to fly 8,000 miles across the globe to a microscopic island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Thank you to the ownership, management and staff at Milaidhoo. You created memories for us that we’ll have for the rest of our lives, and we could not be more grateful for that.

Best wishes to all, and safe travels.

We’ve been at Mialidhoo for 11 days, and, if we could, we would stay at least a week more. The hotel is amazing: an incredible place, with all the view, sea life, sea colors and climate that you would expect from Maldives.

But this could be found in many other hotels from the region. The special in Milaidhoo is the attention to the details: the hotel is small, with maximum capacity of only 90 people, do it is never crowded. The architecture is beautiful and respects the organic of the nature; food is impressively good, with fresh fruits, fresh salad, excellent meat, and a special breakfast with multiple and divine options.

The staff is a highlight, with a good mix between being nice, friendly, helpful, and, at the same time, the let you have your privacy and space if you wish. We were hosted by Ahmed, who helped us to have a even better moment there. Also we would like to highlight the attention we’ve got from Bella, Looth, Tari, Dodi and Schub.

If you decide to visit this hotel, there are two things that for us were differentiated: (1) you don’t have to worry about your clothes. Different from other luxury hotel, you can wear causal clothes even if you go to the fancy restaurants (including flip flops!); (2) they offer for free the possibility to wash 2 clothes per person everyday, so you don’t have to take so many stuff with you.

The food prices are quite high. The quality is really outstanding, and we understand it may be very hard to have fresh and international food in that small island everyday, so it has a cost. But some simple dishes like soups, omelets could cost less. A tip: buy in advance a pack which includes dinner, so you don’t have to worry everyday about the prices and can have a good meal.

We will come back as soon as we can.

We had the most amazing babymoon. They have a very generous babymoon package (see their website) which totally blew us away. Gender reveal cake, cinema under the stars (we watched Grease!), coral reef nursery planting. We had some awesome excursions with Guilia the marine biologist who was very kind and friendly. Saw turtles, sting rays and sharks on the house reef (which is amazing and full of life); we also did a dolphin trip and saw a huge group of spinner dolphins; and managed to see the first Manta Rays of the season, swimming amongst them with snorkels, which was mind blowing and beautiful.

Our butler Abdullah was a legend, we really got on well and he was always offering an extra service, he was always appearing throughout the day and night, constantly giving us lifts on the golf buggy and providing service that felt very laid back but highly efficient. He arranged a photoshoot and private dinner for us, and made sure to keep close communications with the other staff about our needs etc.

If you are a vegan, this place will not only cater for you, they will make bespoke off-menu 3 course meals every evening (included in our full board) that are very high standard, an amazing gastronomic experience. They did this with little fuss, and always offered alternatives like vegan pancakes for breakfast, and had on vegan cheese... anyway 10/10 to all the chefs; and the kind and friendly serving staff (Bella, Shawwaff, many others sorry can't recall names).

The live music was amazing, they had 2 very good singers in the bar every evening, who we're very kind to take our numerous song requests. They also played a great eclectic selection and made the few drinks at the bar special.

The over water room itself was perfect for us. The bed is huge, as is the room and pool and balcony, you cannot improve this design in my opinion. The luggae area is hidden so you feel you can dump all your stuff and its out of sight, which allows you to enjoy the beautiful room without unsightly luggae strew everywhere. We had room 109 whiuch faces the sunset. The water was shallow on that side and the water is much calmer and better for swimming on the beach side, but the beach rooms are not as nice IMO, but I think you can try both.

Much love to all, who made this the best hotel experience of our lives so far, could not recommend more highly.

we choosed milaidhoo to celebrate our anniversary and now we recognized that it was 100% true decision. The island is just woooow. Every single thing was organized starting from welcoming you at the airport until check in our luggage for the return trip to our country. We booked two types of villas ( over the water villa & beach front villa) both of which were great with wide space when compared to the other resort.we booked with half board meal plan. The food of the ocean restaurant is five stars we were satisfied all the days, the chef is really expert in international food . We tried the batheli restaurant which serve Maldivian style food and it was really delicious . We went to three trips which are fishing at sunset and the restaurant cook for us the fishes that we catch. Also we went to dolphin watching trip but we were not lucky to watch them jumping , the were on the surface of the water only . We tried scuba diving for the first time with the diver expert and it was unforgettable experience.
We tried spa services as well, spa villas are over the water with great view the costs are high but I believe that this is the price range in the maldives .

And Last but not least this experience was nice due the great continuing help of the personal butler Abdulla. He help us in all of the booking for the trips and the spa and arrange for us special schedule according to the number of nights that we booked . Contact method was through WhatsApp. He keep reminding us for the timing of the schedule which was mind-relaxing for me to know that there is someone handling everything and that i have to relax only . And he gave us aspecial wonderful, hand-made, art, gift that was made by him.

Unforgettable memories were created in Milaidhoo island resort.

Truly paradise on earth! If you are considering the Maldives, look no further than Miladhoo. All of my highest expectations were exceeded at Milaidhoo from the moment we landed in Male and back. The seaplane views were stunning!

My partner and I were treated like royal family, Shuhan and Sharufeez went above and beyond to ensure our stay was fabulous. Thank you for making our story truly unforgettable.
Highly recommend Seabass's menu at Ba’Theli - Michelin star experience imo and he even catered to our culinary preferences. Special thanks to Dimu as well for his gorgeous hospitality and stories. The breakfast buffet is truly divine. Justus and his staff at the Ocean restaurant are absolutely lovely.

The over-water bungalows are absolutely stunning down to the smallest detail, literally the most comfortable sheets ever! Apparently the amenities are hand-selected by the owner. We were lucky to stay in the Ocean Residence, which was divine and had beautiful views. Spectacularly clean and super lush.

The spa on the island is also incredible, we did a couples spa package, with fruits and champagne; the massages are perfect and worth every penny. Overall the island is peaceful, no cars or young children, designed perfectly for couples on their dream holiday.

Look very forward to coming back again and would never consider anywhere else in the Maldives, first choice always!

We stayed for a couple of weeks beginning of March and were amongst the last to enjoy a stress-free holiday before the coronavirus restrictions kicked in.

We stayed in a beach villa that faced east and gave us both stunning sun and moon rises. The wind was more prevalent on our side but was no more than a gentle breeze which made the heat more comfortable.

The villa was incredibly spacious and we spent the whole time lounging around without once feeling restricted. It felt like our own resort within a resort. The deck was enormous with a variety of seats and loungers and the private pool was large enough for several strokes in any direction.

There was plenty of shade and apart from the very occasional, distant guest wondering past along the beach (and it's the kind of place where most wave apologetically for the intrusion) we had total and utter privacy and peace.

The food was exceptional. For variation we did try the Shoreline and Ba’theli restaurants but never tired of the Ocean, it took on a different identity every time we sat down to eat. Those who looked after us there were brilliant and gave us suggestions for unlisted dishes and variations on a menu which in the end we barely looked at.

Like many hotels the Milaidhoo operates a “butler” service. Request go through your personal butler. They are available any time, day or night. There is constant communication between them and all departments. It seems even the smallest of requests and comments of any significance are passed on.

It was a genuine pleasure to have met everyone at Milaidhoo, I’d mention names but wouldn’t want to leave anyone out. That said I have to say thank you to the wonderful Akoo. His kindness, patience and incredible efficiency made our stay beyond exceptional.

In short, Milaidhoo is a small and very quiet resort which protects your peace and privacy. It gave us a level of contentment we have not felt anywhere else. From the General Manager down, there was a genuine kindness, concern and a total commitment to make our stay the very best it could be. It was.

Next year we will once again be spending a couple of weeks at the Milaidhoo and hopefully in the care of Akoo. Prior to booking our holiday, I read in Trip Advisor a review which said "if you want anything then ask for it", trust me that is true.

Even though this is our fourth visit we still write honest reviews.

Before visiting check what the wind direction is and the lie of the land for the beach and lagoon condition. The weather determines the best position for selecting a beach villa and also the best side for water villas. At the moment the best side for beach villas is the Ba'Thelli side of the island.

it was my wife 50th birthday and also I saved my 100th dive for this trip. The celebrations for both were outstanding.

Eulogising is very easy. You could be reading a long time and I would be writing for even longer. That said you will not be disappointed by any aspect of a visit from the rooms to the butler to the food service and the bar everything is spot on. I take my shoes off and Male airport and do not put them back on until I am back at Male airport on my way home, That's 20 days with no shoes at all at any time.

Our island host was Hussy who was as usual quite outstanding anticipating our needs and making sure every day went as smoothly as possible. On the catering front be warned about the measures at the bar. Sarj is quite heavy handed and a "Sarj Single" is a UK treble, Ask for a chocolate martini they are superb. Special gins made to SARJ's recipe are also very good.

Dimu will take care of your every food need. We prefer eating family style everywhere and it works for us. Not on the menu but worth asking for are the ribs with fries - marvellous!!!

Diving at Ocean Stories is exceptional. Marc, Nazym and Michi are superb guides and CR on the boat is a great aide when you are getting in and out of the water. We saw some amazing sea life especially the red frog fish, turtles, shark, rays and the huge ornate eagle ray. Marc is exceptional at spotting the small stuff.

What else can we say, 4th visit and not the last.

Shuhan the GM runs a great team. He quite rightly has massive respect from all the island colleagues and makes himself available to guests on-demand.

The formula works beyond expectations, the quality of the experience is personal, the whole holiday, all 20 days of it, were just magic.

This place is a short distance away from the airport. Roughly 30-45 minutes north of Male by sea plane. You would likely need to take the seaplane North to venture here. The island is beautiful and owned by a private family. As many experiences are, you can customize your stay to your preference. A boat restaurant called Ba’theli Bar and Lounge lay some meters east of the island. The food at Ba’theli was the best food we had in the Maldives; authentic and varied curries, range of seafood selections, an international menu with delights from Morocco and the like. We ate here at least 3 times, each time without fail. To the north of Milhaidoo you can see the four seasons. Yet another experience here was the spa. It was exotic to be honest. The staff at the spa paid attention to about every detail I could fathom, caressing and massaging my body until I was sound asleep. The exquisite teas after the session were full bodied and reminded me of the East. Our manager, Hussy, was exceptional with his coordination of activities, dining and basically anything we so desired. Without a doubt, he was highly experienced and professional, worth top dollar. As you would expect, the staff at the resort are very personable and nice. The staff all wore masks religiously as they kept the rooms consistently sanitized and comfortable. The property had an amazing reef. However, from the north side overwater bungalows it was not easy to traverse to the reef during the low tide as there were large rocks and trigger fish present. Still, once the few meters were overcome, the reef was bountiful with myriad aquatic life and beautiful water. It seemed cooler in Milhaidoo compared to Anantara, which was geographically positioned more south. Highly recommend a stay here as it is worth every penny!

We've just returned from our amazing honeymoon adventure where we finished off our trip on this most stunning of islands. From the minute you arrive on Milaidhoo you are truly blown away by its beauty. When Ahmed our personal Island Host greeted us with cold towels and ice cold champagne we knew we were somewhere special. Milaidhoo Island is quintessential understated luxury. The rooms are absolutely huge and our water bungalow had the most spectaular sunset view. The snorkling is outstanding and the hotel provide you with all the equipement you need. We were staying on half board and can't speak highly enough of the food. The choice is almost limitless and the sevice exceptional. For our last night Ahmed recommended dining in the award winning fine dining restaurant Ba'theli Restaurant. It was the perfect end to our honeymoon watching the sunset in the most beautiful of steeings. We opted for the tasting menu and thought it was superb! Would definitely recommend it for a special treat. We were entertained by the huge stingrays and reef sharks too during the evening. Watching the most amazing fish swim next to us was magical.
The attention to detail really made our honeymoon a trip of a lifetime and we can't thank Ahmed enough for his special touches to our room. The decorations, Champagne and honeymoon cake were very much appricated and made us feel incredibly special. Thank You so much Milaidhoo! Will will definiatly return x

My wife and I spent our honeymoon at Milaidhoo and we couldn’t have chosen a better place. The hotel had just reopened following the COVID-19 closure, so occupancy was still very low. That meant a private dinner almost every day.
We had a water villa facing the reef, which was an amazing view to start the day. The room is very spacious and so is the outside area. The reef is great and easily accessible, and we could see a wide variety of fish and even small reef sharks. We would also recommend the manta ray excursion- we were very lucky to see dozens of manta rays.
The personnel is kind and very helpful. Our butler, Sultan, helped us with all our requests and organized a beautiful honeymoon celebration for us which exceeded all of our expectations.
The food was really excellent and we appreciated the hotel made an effort to keep all restaurants open in spite of the low occupancy. We highly recommend Batheli, specialized in Maldivian food. There were some small misses with some dishes at the Shoreline grill restaurant, but nothing that ofuscated the great quality of the food overall. We had the Gourmet Plan (all inclusive) during our stay, but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you drink and eat a lot; we felt like it was just not completely worth for what we consumed.
In a nutshell, a true paradise on Earth, amazing and kind personnel and delicious food... what more can you wish? We can’t wait to be back!
