Spent two nights between Colombo and Ella. The hotel and the grounds are beautiful and provide a very welcoming and relaxing feel. The food and service was excellent as well. Each room has a "butler" assigned to it who takes care of any needs guest may have.

The Kandy House is highly recommended for families (and all really). A good place to spread out and relax after a few weeks of small hotel rooms. Beautiful furniture, good kitchen and yes a washing machine! 100m from small shop and 1km from supermarket and restaurant. Short Three wheeler ride to town center. Worked well with wet season: ie go...

Beautiful Sri Lankan-run boutique hotel. Over 200 years old, well preserved - feels like you're stepping back in time. Food was excellent, with a lovely candle lit courtyard to relax after dinner. Charlie and the Hotel Manager made us feel at home. Overall, a very special atmosphere.

Kandy House is straight out of a Noel Coward play, I didn't think places like this existed any more. The room was beautiful with a lovely verandah. The dinners, on the two nights we were there, were the best of our holiday and it was lovely and peaceful sitting by the pool. The hotel is ideally placed for visiting the...

A beautiful old estate with 9 guest rooms decorated with antique Sri Lankan and Colonial furniture. Quirky and tranquil, an ideal getaway. Located outside of town which is a good thing. The food is excellent and the service is attentive and thoughtful. At night the beautiful jungle garden is lit up with lights and I can't think of a more...

If you are looking for a cozy place to rest and relax, then the Kandy House is for you. It's charm lies not in its centralized location, and that's exactly the point. The house is the destintion. Through the use of candles, mirrors, strategically placed comfy chairs and abundant greenery, the house exudes a peaceful vibe. If you are seeking...

Kandy house was an excellent spot but being well out of town you had no chance to walk and explore the area. The food was superb and varied over our 3 night stay. Eating on the covered outdoor patio was excellent even on a rainy night. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The drive to and from Kandy was...

We stayed at the Kandy house for 3 nights as part of our 3 week tour of Sri Lanka. The Kandy house is the oldest house in Kandy and is a beautiful Colonial house. It is about 10mins outside Kandy which is perfect as it is situated in a lovely beautiful and tranquil setting. It has lovely grounds a beautiful...

Kandy House is a real hideaway in the hustle and bustle of Kandy and Sri Lanka. It may be someway outside Kandy but it's worth the trip, such a surprise to find tranquility after a long day of travel and temple visiting. The room although quite small was beautiful, although the aircon unit would be better positioned away from the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Kandy House is a unique ancestral manor house (walauwa) providing seclusion and serenity for its guests in a lush, tropical garden setting, close to Kandy. With only 9 bedrooms, this Kandy hotel, aims is to give guests an experience of staying more in a private house than a conventional hotel. Traditional Kandyan architecture has been blended with Bawa-influenced modern, polished titanium cement floors and bathrooms. In the gardens, a stunning infinity pool has been landscaped into the hillside overlooking the rice paddy fields. Delicious European fusion and Sri Lankan cuisine is on offer. Well-placed to spend time to relax as well as explore a broad selection of Sri Lanka's primary destinations in the Cultural Triangle and Tea Country, including the Temple of the Tooth and the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. The house can also be booked as a whole for important celebrations with friends, or just for the peace of mind of a group having total privacy away from the public eye. The Kandy House also makes an ideal honeymoon hotel in Sri Lanka, in a quiet peaceful setting, honeymooners can enjoy the infinity pool, private dining, yoga or massages. ... more   less
