We stayed for one night and we liked all about this place -- a remodeled and nicely furnished room, a spacious bathroom with generous towels, and very friendly hosts. The bed was super comfy, and my husband finally slept "like home" for the first time after a few days on the road. Our hosts managed to prepare a very tasty dinner for us and two other couples which was highly appreciated considering that were were super hungry and all restaurants were closed for the season in that part of France in mid-October. The breakfast was fresh, healthy and plenty.
I had a very warm welcome from the friendly Irish-born owners. They were extremely helpful and even fixed me up with a professional contact. The breakfasts were delicious (good coffee, fresh pastries, wonderful crusty bread, perfect dipped into a soft-boiled egg...) as were the home-cooked dinners. And the room and bathroom were large, very tastefully furnished and comfortable. All very good, I’d love to go back.
The Petit Auberge seems unassuming but the rooms are large, spacious, and comfortable. The hosts are very gracious and frankly make the experience. They are warm and welcoming and you soon feel like family. The dinner they cooked was superb as was the breakfast. But Carennac itself is the star of the show. We knew little about the town, choosing the Petit Auberge because it was on the bike route we had planned out. We were completely blown away. It is hands down the most quaint village we discovered anywhere in the Dordogne region. The whole experience was only enhanced by the wonderful hospitality of the Petit Auberge.
A charming auberge with some quirky touches. Our room was very comfortable and a good size. The hosts were very welcoming and served a lovely varied breakfast featuring locally sourced food. We hope to return.
We had a wonderful experience staying at Le Petite Auberge. We were there for five nights and everything was perfect. The room was spacious, comfortable, clean, and beautifully appointed. The food was amazing, and Gerry and Gerard are wonderful hosts. We look forward to returning to Carennac and to Le Petite Auberge!
