Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Unfortunately, we had a very unpleasant stay at West Palm. Our room was run down and dirty, and after we complained to the front desk lady (a very nice women who was really willing to help us!) we moved to the next room, which was also dirty, and then to the next dirty room...since the rooms were not getting cleaner, we suggested that we stay in the first room and that she could talk to her manager about a discount. We then actually got a discount of 12 USD, so we ended up paying 120USD instead of 132USD (how generous eh?!). This was the most expensive and unfortunately the most unpleasant stay of our entire trip.

The breakfast was awful. Three slices of toast, jam, some eggs (shells inclusive), instant coffee with old bad milk. We left hungry and in a bad mood.

The entire area Chaguaramas is not really exciting. Don't waste your time here.

Hotel looks okay from outside and more or less good from the reception side but the standard rooms are definitely not okay...
First thing that they are not too clean (it means that you can easily find someone's hair in the bathroom and inside the towel).
Second thing that there is no even a single window at the room but a big terrace that you won't open.
Third is the old AC leaking just in the floor.
Fourth is the absence of any table or chair to work at or just to put your laptop.
Fifth are the thin walls that you can hear your neighbours watching TV.
However there is a kettle, refrigerator and microwave owen!!! But no safe...
There is no internet in the room and only avaible near the pool and at the reception (Wi-Fi with normal speed).
Kitchen is not to good but with a pleasent and polite personnel.
Pool area is fine and clean but no towels there.
All sockets are US style and no way to get the adapter at the reception.
Telephones between the rooms were not working or I did not inderstand how to use it.

I stayed here for business. Although the hotel looks pleasant from the pictures it was not a pleasant stay. The pros: 1) large rooms 2) friendly staff. The cons: 1)moldy smelling rooms. 2)poor room manintenence 3) disgusting pool 4)no hot water in the shower.
After checking in, I was shown to my room and passed the pool the pool was cloudy and disgusting looking. Upon entering my room I was hit with a waft of mold stench and unclean floors. There was a lack of hot water in the showers and I ended up taiking cold showers. The complimentary breakfast consisted of two eggs and two pieces of toast, plus instant coffee or tea. I would have stayed elsewhere but the other hotels were full. The price of $930TT ($155USD) was way too expensive for the quality of this hotel.

My friends and I visited just before Christmas. The hotel is newly renovated. Let's begin with their excellent customer service. The room was excellent as well as their clean warm pool. Although we had lots of fun and enjoyed our stay to the fullest, I most highlight the relaxing and inviting ambiance of the entire compound. I highly recommend West Palm and their friendly staff.

Based on the reviews I was hesitant to visit, but we did. The rooms were clean and beds were really comfortable. There is a bakery on the compound and I got my birthday cake and the food was great. Was told that they are under new management. The pool was fabulous and the staff was friendly. Will definitely visit again.

I went with my husband a week ago and the house-keeper was making lewd comments and sexually suggestive statments while i was away... she asked my husband if he ever thought of cheating on me ... this is unacceptable as i asked for a manager or shift supervisor and to my surprise there was none .

The place looks great from reception but inside tells a different story. I don't mind a hotel that is in need of upgrading bit this place needs far more. The rooms are filthy and haven't been properly cleaned ever. spiders webs in the shower? Surely this shows people are not staying here! The floors are not swept or wiped. Stagnant water in the drainage outside the rooms. The a/c is barely adequate. I'm only staying because evetywhere els is full otherwise I'd move immediately.. Don't not stay here if you can afford anywhere else.., the crews inn or Marriott are far better.

I stayed a night on business, didn't feel welcomed and made my way to my room after nearly tripping over the numerous trip hazards.

The air con barely worked, the room hadn't been cleaned, floor was dirty, sweet corn in the sink plug hole and pubes everywhere. The shower didn't work and the bath was abysmal. Despite puting insect repellant on, I was bitten by mosquitos all over, later leading to a hospital trip and numerous bad consequences. No WiFi. Couldn't get any drinking water or food here.

Having said this the pool was alright.

Refuse to stay again at this rip off health hazard hotel.

The receptionist needs training. Was not allowed to carry food because they said there is food on sale and a bar. To our surprised the bar was closed and nobody was on the premises. When we asked about the status of the bar we were told by The receptionist that the bar man gone out and she have no clue when he would return then her remark was " Yea ah kno how yah feeling" she offered us a hot coke and could not even provide ice or cups she didn't even attempt to care. We then saw an maintenance person and he was able to find some ice and cups. Leaving the compound now the receptionist didn't even apologize for the mishaps. After all of this. They locked our driver in the car park on the hill when asked to open the gate. The attitude and lies that came out of that receptionist mouth was appalling. This is by far the worst customer service we have ever experienced! We would never visit this place in life again and we would tell everyone we kno about this!. Send your staff training!
