When I take time to write a review, it is normally for a good very poor hotel. In this case it is excellence. The Atelier Hotel deserves a great deal of praise. Normally I reserve praise of the staff to just a few individuals but at this hotel it is very difficult to single out just a couple.
First, kudos to our awesome butlers, Jorge and Armando. They make themselves available to make our stay enjoyable and were always part of the solution, answering any requests. As it was our honeymoon, we really appreciated the many different surprises and the special attention. Especially for my wife, the heart shaped chocolate specially delivered to our room, a bathtub with rose petals and a bottle of “Bubbly” to drink.
Also, in different restaurants, we had treats underlining the purpose of your holiday. A highlight of our vacation was certainly a guided tour “Behind the scenes of Atelier” by Alex, the Entertainment Manager. He was so knowledgeable, took time to answer all our questions and is certainly one of the best Ambassadors for Atelier. This tour explained notably why all the food is so good, segregated areas for each food to prevent cross contamination, the cleanliness of the hotel with staff having their uniforms supplied and cleaned by the hotel. Alex stressed the values of Atelier that are encompassed by all the staff: love, family, humility, gratitude, passion.
Although we can’t remember the name of all the staff that we met, a few people leave unforgettable memories: Gilberto, the Restaurant Manager at Mercado 19 and Italian restaurant called Cilentes. He was certainly part of the solution to any of our desires and was creative by his meal suggestions and special arrangements.
Angel, the manager of Maria Dolores the Michelin restaurant on site, Isaac, the Chef and two dedicated waiters, Iris and Christian. They all contributed to making our time at Maria Dolores, so enjoyable.
Norma, the night Manager on Duty was quick to intervene when we had an issue and made our stay at Atelier more than special.
From the welcome by Alicia, to the service on the beach by Eduardo, Emmanuel and Carlos and so many others. A crash course on Tequila by an awesome waiter, Ivan.
The amazing attention to our likes at breakfast by Donovan, Carlos and team. A very special night, “Fiesta Mexicana”, being attended to by the Manager Gabriela.
Our favorite restaurant, “Cilentes”, with the attention of the manager Gilberto, with David as such an attentive waiter.
A special lunch at the Bikini Azul with Ivette the Manager and Maurizio the attentive waiter.
Our room was always extra clean, smelling good with Janeth our maid.
Bravo Atelier. We hope to return soon in 2025!

This was our first stay at the Atelier. It is a large resort. Easily comparable to any of the Excellence group properties in terms of size and variety of suites.
What sets this property apart is service. The food is excellent (except at Bikini Azul). The service is amazing. Our Inspira buttler team of George and Armando made our stay truly amazing. They were our contact point for our every single need. They were our contact team for everything. We never had to reach out to front desk, or management, or laundry services. George and Armando took care of our every need. We felt like we were being hosted by loving family. Franky, if I could hire these guys away to work at my American business, I would do it in a heartbeat.
Unfortunately, when our buttler team had their days off, the substitute butlers were not very responsive, and the front desk was unreachable for hours on end.
The property is in good shape and is continuously maintained. They do not follow the usual resort mindset of beating it into exhaustion and then shutting down for a renovation. There is continuous upkeep and active repairs of cosmetic and functional issues alike.
The only problem we faced was a non-working water heater for our Master Suite rooftop pool and shower. It was EXTREMELY disappointing to pay $16,000 for a top of the line suite and to be repeatedly told that a heater set to 40 degrees C could only warm the water to 28 degrees C. There was also no hot water in the outdoor shower. Probably because of the same problem. I am guessing calcium buildup on the heat exchanger.
The master suite at the Finest had hot water available in the roof top plunge pool and in the outdoor shower. The Atelier can do better in this regard.
An electric tankless water heater costs $2,000 installed... It takes less than and hour to install. There is not really any excuse here. Especially since there is not a standalone Jacuzzi tub like in most other properties of the same quality level.
We will come back again soon, and we will get the master suite again. But, if this issue persists, it will probably be our last stay.
A few years ago we had a busted hot tub in the presidential suite at Zoertry Villa Rolandi... And they're fired. There is no excuse for poor maintenance in a top of the line suite at a top notch property.
Despite the issues, this is our favorite Mexico resort so far (better than Excellence, better than Finest, better than Zoertry, better than Dreams, and better than Secrets).
If the issues I mentioned are corrected by our next stay, I will gladly buy an a resort membership (their alternative to a timeshare).

The resort wasn't busy, but we were repeatedly told they were over flowing with visitors from conferences who only appeared to be off site visitors attending evening conference room events. While we paid to get an upgraded room we were relegated to the back side of the resort while comparable rooms were available closer to amenities. The Butler service that accompanied the room was nice and helpful in booking a few on-site dinners, but the butler staff didn't forewarn that the Michelin rated restaurant had such a strict dress code for closed toed shoes on men only that I would be turned away wearing expensive evening attire, but others would be given entry if they simply wore gross, dirty sneakers, jeans and T-shirts, even though my new $150 pair of men's high end sandals were only open at the toe and the restaurants were the primary reason for booking at this particular resort. The restaurant manager was rude and didn't offer any alternatives in accommodating a very special meal for my new wife and I on our honeymoon knowing that restaurant was the culminating event of our trip, so we had to forego what I can only imagine would have been a lackluster meal at Edgar Nunez's flagship resort dining experience, even though the restaurant was clearly empty and we were willing to pay the extra costs for dining there that weren't included in the all-inclusive package we purchased. Overall staff was courteous and accommodating. The rooms were clean. That said, many of the staff seemed more concerned with selling us timeshares and upselling spa services all day when they hunted us down at various pools and the beach to repeatedly pitch us, rather than giving us the experience we paid for, and the timeshare hard sell was so prevalent that we waited almost 4 hours to gain access to our room when we arrived because staff kept moving us to different rooms with more upsell sales staff in the wings trying to get us to buy a timeshare package before we could enter our room, even though we paid extra for early check in and priority room entry. If your goal is pounding cheap alcohol this might be the resort for you, but if you're a serious foodie not into getting hammered drunk every night, you may want to consider the alternative resorts that are all around this location with the same amenities and better guest support. Overall, the experience was relaxing, but not quite what we paid extra to be party to. The incessant upselling was annoying and constant, even with multiple phone calls to our room daily to ask us to attend timeshare seminars each day and chastising us for the "missed" opportunity.

My husband, our friends, and I had the pleasure of staying at Atelier Playa Mujeres for seven nights in early October, and it was nothing short of spectacular. Having traveled to many resorts in the area over the past 20 years, we can confidently say this was an unmatched experience.
The resort itself is stunning—immaculately clean, beautifully designed, and incredibly well-maintained. From the rooms to the grounds, everything was perfection. Standout Experiences: Don Fernando Lobby Bar: The drinks here were the best on the property, crafted with care and creativity. Special shoutout to bartenders Daniel and Fernando, who remembered our preferences each day and always made us feel welcome.
Bar De Calle (Street Bar): Watching the bartenders here was like watching an artist at work—such a fun and unique experience!
El Suspiro Restaurant: A favorite spot for its fresh and flavorful cuisine. Gabriel, our server on multiple occasions, provided outstanding service and attention to detail.

We just got back from Atelier last night and we had the best time. 100% the best all inclusive I’ve ever been to (I’ve only been to 5… but still). Everyone we encountered was amazing but a special shoutout to Susana at concierge, Christian at Maria Delores & Daniela in the Inspira office.
The resort feels upscale & concierge level but gives the bonus of also being all inclusive so you can pay upfront and not spend another dime if you want to. All of our meals were either good, great or amazing. Never a bad meal. Our level of service was exceptional. The cocktails don’t feel like watered down resort drinks but hand crafted cocktails.
Our room was cleaned 2-3 times a day. Service at the pool was pretty fast & proactive. Enough activities to have things to do but still leave plenty of room for relaxation. We never had issues finding chairs by the pool or beach the one day we went (we’re more pool people that beach).
The facilities themselves are just beautiful and seem well kept. We even saw them working on minor fixes while we were there and it seems they must always do this as it still felt like a new resort.
The spa is next level. I don’t want to ruin it by telling about the entire experience because I loved having it as a surprise but omg. EST spa experience I’ve experienced and I’ve been to quite a few. Not just the facilities but the level of service from the staff there made it so memorable.
We will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful stay at this adults-only resort, and I must say the ambiance and overall vibe were peaceful and aesthetically pleasing. Among the many dining options at the resort, we especially enjoyed Casa di Luna (Mediterranean) and El Suspiro (Seafood). We were fortunate to have an outstanding waiter, Ricardo, at Casa di Luna—thank you, Ricardo! His service made the experience even more memorable.
On a minor note, we noticed that various staff members frequently asked if we were celebrating a special occasion. Ironically, on our special day, there was no unique acknowledgment, despite being asked “Are you celebrating anything special today?” at almost every meal. Ricardo was the only person who tried to make it special, and we truly appreciated his efforts.
Most of the staff at the resort were friendly and attentive. Whether we were at the beach or by the pool, servers came by regularly with food and drinks. Although I don’t remember everyone’s name, I recall Christopher, our beach server, who did an excellent job. Our room was also cleaned and well-kept each day (special shout-out to Yadira, who was very sweet).
The resort provided sundries like hand soap, lotion, shampoo, and even insect repellent, which was a thoughtful touch. I wish I had been more diligent about applying the repellent, as I ended up with a few mosquito bites. Thankfully, I brought Benadryl gel, so the itching was manageable.
For those who enjoy a bit of nightlife, the evening shows are well worth checking out. Every show we attended was excellent, so you can’t go wrong with any of them!

This was our 3rd trip to Atelier and it was as amazing as ever - there is a reason we keep coming back. We love the relaxed atmosphere, attention to detail, friendly staff, multiple food and drink options and the incredible service. We are a lesbian couple and have always felt included, accepted, safe and welcome at Atelier. We would highly recommend this resort for a relaxing, romantic and restorative vacation.
We are members of the Inspira club and this was our first trip since they implemented the butler service. What a treat! We had Aline and Victor as our butlers, who somehow made an already incredible vacation even better. They took care of all the little details, like reservations at the restaurant and spa, which allowed us to relax and enjoy. They also surprised us with flowers, wine and a bubble bath ready for when we returned from dinner on our anniversary! Aline and Victor were friendly, flexible, easy to communicate with, and went above and beyond for us. Their service was amazing and exceeded our expectations.
We felt very taken care of, especially on the beach and the Inspira pool by the beach by Damarys and other staff. They were so attentive to the little details, like getting fresh towels, creating extra shade, ensuring everyone had cold water during the hot days. Damarys was so kind, bubbly, and attentive. Whenever we needed something, she was one step ahead, anticipating what guests may want or need. We do like being members of Inspira, as we feel that the already excellent service is elevated and personalized.
Another reason we keep coming back is the food and drink at this resort. We have yet to have a bad meal or drink yet! This trip we loved having breakfast at Mercado, where we were taken care of by Luis. He was so friendly and it was great to start each morning with him. He also was attentive and remembered little details, like our coffee orders. We also loved Cilento - going twice for dinner to get the spaghetti made table side in a large Parmesan wheel. We had it made by Freddy and Jonas. Both times it was delicious and a show! After dinner we loved to stop by the Calle bar to get mixology cocktails made by Irvin. The drinks were delicious and creative, but above all else, we loved watching his artistry in making the drinks. Overall, the food and drinks here are great and you will receive excellent service from the waiters and bar staff.
As of with some other comments, there was some seaweed at the beach. We didn't mind and did enjoy the Bali beds and swimming in the ocean. There is some seaweed right at the shore, but once you take 1-2 steps over it, the water is clear!
Overall, we recommend Atelier and Inspira for the best adults only all inclusive vacation. We had an amazing experience and can't believe that somehow the team made it even better than our last 2 visits. We can't wait to return!

We had a great time! Atelier is a wonderful resort to travel with food allergies. I am allergic to gluten, dairy, onions + garlic and I had an endless choice of delicious meals and desserts.
The hotel is beautiful. The rooms were very beautiful although we didn’t spend much time in them. Beautiful rooms beautiful resort everybody remembers your name and addresses you. Staff at the pool + restaurants always greeted us by name. My teenage daughter loved being treated like a “princess” by the pool staff. The gym is wonderful and we loved Alba across the hall for smoothies and fresh fruit.
After check-in we met with the Food and Restaurant Manager (Jonathan Sanchez) who reserved dinners for us for the entire week upon arrival. With food allergies I would recommend only ordering through the F&B Manager, Restaurant Manager and/or restaurant chef. One of them always greeted us at each meal and took our order. Preordering the day before worked if we wanted a particular menu item.
The pastry chef is working on an allergen friendly dessert menu for Atelier and gave me something new each lunch and dinner to try and asked me my thoughts on them. I tried coconut tarts, madeleines, passionfruit souffle, crème brulé just to name a few. It was amazing to be a part of that.
At breakfasts I was given extra fruit and muffins (made special dairy + gluten free each morning) and a container so I could take the treats with me for later. We had breakfast daily at Mercad0 19 as the restaurant manager Ariel, Chef Javier and the staff did a wonderful job. We had lunch at Cilentro as we loved Chef Ivan’s creations. Chef Ivan made a chicken parm for my husband that we struggle to get in the US gluten free and breaded. We also felt safe eating at Suspiro when Carlos was managing (the other manager didn’t understand the allergies), We had dinner at Los Abrazos twice + Chef Christian was equally amazing, Sonnya the Food + Beverage Assistant Manager is also a great person to connect with if dining with food allergies
Many people in this group ask about the air conditioning. Rooms can go as low as 17°C but you need to ask the concierge to lower the set point. We were in 4 different rooms (reserved Jr. Suite Ocean View adjoining rooms and made a switch during our stay and the rooms all had different set points.) We also had a dehumidifier in one room which helped make the room feel cooler.
We used Ruth at Trip Guy travel and will be using her in the future. She was able to bundle our private transfers, stay at Atelier + insurance for the same price as if we booked Atelier ourselves direct.

The Atelier Hotel Resort is the most beautiful place to visit in Playa Mujeres the Hotel is immaculate clean , the food is of first class they have several restaurants from breakfast buffet to different from Japanese to Italian all are excellent in quality food , the rooms are super clean , the bedding are super crisp I’ve visited many Hotels all over the World Atelier is my favorite of all , Specially the Staff all over the Hotel Our Butlers were the best Aline , and Pingting that made our stay much easier they are best Butlers we feel like Family as soon we see them , it’s our second Home , Jered the walk Art tour guy , was excellent in showing us the Art explaining all the sculptures real polite .our Butlers Aline and Pingting made every detail perfect from balloons for my birthday to reservations in restaurants ! They made our Vacation memorable for ever !! Thank you Atelier !! See you soon

There was an app we used after we checked in but I did not use it personally to view menus or make reservations (someone else in our group did that!)
Maybe you can download the Atelier app and use it before (not as a current guest)?

They do offer a golf cart to go to building 1. I dont think they offer them to get around the resort. I’ve only stayed in the rooftop suites. Its a bit of a walk to get to the main pool and the beach.

Almost every restaurant had a vegan menu. The vegan menus had 3 or 4 appetizers and 3 or 4 entrees. This was one of the easiest places to be vegan!
They do have a membership driven program called Insipra and they will ask you to attend. If you say no, they will leave you alone. The resort is pretty big so you won't encounter the reps unless you spend lots of time in the lobby.
