We booked 2 rooms at the thatch in as we was attending a wedding at Elmore court , the hotel was a perfect location for attending a wedding as the taxi ride was about 7 mins ( taxi was quite expensive for this short journey) The hotel it’s self looked so lovely from the outside , just what you would expect from a hotel in the Cotswolds.
When we checked in my sister and her boyfriend had a room downstairs - room number 1 and unfortunately was met with a very strong sewage smell , we informed reception about this and was told they would send someone in to have a look , sadly all they could do was spray some air freshener and put something down the loo , as there was no other rooms available they was left to deal with the smell. Our room upstairs was cute , there were some strange smells in the corridor but not to bad. Our room was perfect for the two nights we stayed but we did have a loud fan noise outside the window so if you can’t sleep with noises maybe keep the window shut.
We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel, we couldn’t fault the dinner food was fab and also credit to the young guy working at the bar he provided great service! Breakfast was okay but very overpriced , £15 was the set price for the entire menu that could be £15 for a sausage sandwich or £15 for a fry up, if you wanted to order an extra breakfast you had to pay the additional £15! The food was good but there also was a few issues with the kitchen that day with issues made with the breakfast but nothing to major.
Overall the hotel was cute and cosy , but just needs a few tweaks to make it better!

Response from Marc Gibbons, General Manager at The Thatch Inn

Dear Shannon Flegg, Thank you for taking the time to leave some feedback. The issue with your room of your sister has been addressed in their tripadvisor post. I'm delighted that you thought the room to be perfect for the two nights that you stayed. I haven't received any comment regarding a fan before, but will monitor comments and feedback to see if this is something we need to address. It's great to read that you thought the dinner to be fab. We have endeavoured to keep our policy on breakfast charging simple. If you book your room directly with the hotel or on our website, breakfast is complimentary and fully inclusive of the buffet and cooked breakfast. It is very rare that the ‘have what you wish’ approach is abused by guests. If you do not prebook our standard charge is £15 for unlimited use of the buffet and a freshly cooked breakfast of your liking which we consider good value for what is on offer With regards to taxis, it's probably always best to pre book and get a price from them for the journey. Unfortunately, we don't have any control of their charges and have three or four companies that we hand out cards for (with no commission or favours in return). I hope that we might see you again at some point. Regards Marc

We stayed at the Thatch Inn for a weekend break and would like to give our honest personal review. We booked a standard double room for one night two people B&B at a cost of £84.00. The standard room we were given was quiet small for two people with double bed and shower. We had a problem with the room because the previous guest had left a used dirty cloth/ towel in the shower which was not a pleasant experience. It should have been removed when the room was cleaned ??
The manager was informed and a replacement room was allocated. We did not eat evening meal in the bar due to small selection and in our opinion the high price,s. We
chose the pub just a short walk away offering a varied menu at reasonable price and the food was excellent. Breakfast offered continental and full English Breakfast food was good but seating tables could be bigger and less decoration of plastic flowers.
Based upon our experience the basic rooms are very small breakfast was good .The overall stay was disappointing due to the problem with the room also the rate of £84.00 for a one night B&B is too expensive for The Thatch Inn ..

We were relocating to dorset, and decided to stay over night part way on our journey after a long day, so last minute we booked payed extra for there best room, booked evening meal as we hadn't eaten all day on arrival the team were there in the bar area to welcome us give us are card for the room and invite us to eat. Which we did great attentive staff. Food was nice usual pub fair but hot and fresh. That's when it all went down hill we made our way to our room room 19 small room although said large on site so not sure what size other rooms were it was fifthly bathroom dirty inside of door has stains all over. Shower was so small sink dirty. Carpets stained. It was late anyway and we were shattered after packing out house up all day. So off into bed we went. I have to say we would of been lucky if we had one hours sleep we had a zip n lock bed and you could not move in it as the noise from just moving an arm was awful. We slept on 2 different sides of the bed and even that didn't help. The bed needs putting in the bin. We went for breakfast in the morning buffet and hot forget the buffet it was awful make your own toast in a toastef that takes ages the toast ends up like crisp bread. Hot offering was nice though besides the boiled mushrooms. There was noone to speak to at breakfast regarding the bed debacle so I emailed before we left as advised just to say bin that awful beds. Anyway reply was manager was working in kitchen all weekend and will reply and week later still no reply.

Were travelling down to Dorset and booked a room at the thatch inn on arrival we were greeted and allocated room 25 which although small was very clean and modern with a comfortable bed. Problems started when we wanted to use the sink as there was no hot water which was inconvenient after using the toilet but as we were staying for dinner we decided to let reception know. When going to dinner we were allocated a table in the bar which left me seated immediately under the speaker play in constant music so I asked to be moved which they did but the feeling I got that they thought I was a problem customer as the atmosphere became as cold as the sink tap. Could not fault the food or the service from the young man was excellent and we enjoyed the meal. Having reported the hot water tap when we went to dinner we hoped that it would be ok in the morning but it was no different and left us to wash our hands under the shower head as this was an electric shower so a supply of hot water. This was a shame as generally it was a pleasant room.

Thank you for your feedback d32lav, As the hot water comes from one of two hot water tanks, there can be a delay for hot water, especially if being the first to draw hot water from the tanks. The water tanks are on 24 hours per day though but feed just the taps as the showers are electric and heat to demand. Even at home, there will be a slight delay in getting hot water on the first draw but we do recognise guests are wanting the hot water in the sink to arrive earlier. We are investigating pressurising the system to speed up the hot water delivery. I have spoken with the Deputy Manager regarding your dinner experience. You mention that you couldn't fault the service but say that the atmosphere was cold. The team on that evening are my two most senior people and were very surprised, and disappointed to read you thought the atmosphere cold after asking to move tables. It's great to read that you couldn't fault the food and service and say the room was clean, modern and had a comfortable bed. Thank you again for your comments.

7 of us visited on 20.03.22 for a 40th Wedding Anniversary lunch and it was perfect. The welcome was friendly and warm. The lunches - a mixture of various roasts and other items from the menu were all delicious and delivered on piping hot plates. The service completely added to a wonderful afternoon. Carol in particular, went the extra mile. She had spoken to my son who had phoned from Australia earlier in the week to arrange for 2 x bottles of bubbly to be sent to the table with his and my daughter-in-laws love in their absence. Carol, in her own time and at her own expense, went and purchased a Ruby Wedding Anniversary card so she could put it with the bottles of bubbly on the table. This is service over and above. I can only highly recommend a visit to this fabulous restaurant and bar. By the way they have rooms where you can stay overnight too!

Dear 53245861, Thank you for such wonderful comments. They are certainly appreciated and I know the team (including Carole) will be pleased to read them. As I have said many a time, the team genuinely delight in giving wonderful experiences to our guests, and this is probably the true reward we work for in hospitality. I'm so pleased that this is appreciated in this case. Thank you again for your kind words and I hope that we might see you again soon. Regards Marc

There are no disabled parking spaces in the grounds of this old Inn. I forewarned them that I was disabled, so they put me in a room at the top of the stairs and as far away from the entrance as possible. This old Inn oozes charm and character. Part of it dates back to 1350. However, the rooms are in an adjoining modern block. My room was small, completely white and had the feeling of a sanitised private hospital room. Breakfast was superb and the staff were friendly, helpful and lovely.

Thank you for the feedback 718treforj, It’s great to read that you thought the breakfast and staff to be superb. When you emailed letting us know you were disabled, we did reply asking what requirements you might have in order that we might be able to better accommodate your stay. We didn’t hear back from you. Given that disability can take many different forms, it would always help if we know how we might accommodate a guest better, making the stay more enjoyable for you, our guest. The room we booked you in was one of the closest to the undercover car port entrance, with the shortest distance to cover to a room from a car. We have a limited number of ground floor rooms for those who have difficulty with stairs but of course, giving as much notice as possible helps us find the best room for each particular booking. As the large open car park is gravelled, it’s not really possible to create such disabled spacing without perhaps creating a hazard in it’s own right. One end of the car park is closest to the rooms and the other closest to the bar, so we are only to pleased to help any guest with unloading or the carrying of luggage. I’m sorry that the décor wasn’t to your taste. The grey we use has actually had quite a lot of positive feedback from other guests but I totally understand personal taste meant it wasn’t quite your cup of tea. Regards Marc

The thatch is the best beer pub in Quedgeley hands down. Deya on tap and many other top choices. But when we decided to eat here it went downhill. The food was a bit pretentious and trying to be better than it actually was. The burger was £17 and bang average, gammon and chips better but not £17 worth. The cheese add on for the burger was £2.50 and just a slice of cheap American cheese, that’s studid, also 10% service charge was a kick in the teeth.
Go here for beer and be very happy. Don’t order food!

We have just got home after a 3 night stay for a family Wedding. We had several rooms booked at different times over the 3 nights, everything ran like clockwork. Tom and his team were fabulous. They all made us feel so welcome, they were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We arrived later than expected and had missed dinner, which other family had enjoyed. Tom allowed us to order a pizza and sit with our family in the bar. Thank you. Tom, your kindness was much appreciated. Breakfast was delicious, served by lovely staff. There was an extensive choice, we mainly had full English! My 84yr old mother was with us and the housekeeping staff treated her like a Queen. Thank you 😊 The rooms varied in size, all spotlessly clean and well resourced. The bed was super comfy! I would recommend this gem to anyone and hope one day to visit again .

I stayed here with my daughter. The hotel is set within a quaint Tudor-looking pub and the reception is the bar which felt a bit strange but was quick & easy to check in. The room was set through a dining area which again felt strange as there was a big family event happening at the time although there was an outside entrance to avoid interrupting again. The outside entrance led to their big car park.
The room was small but adequate and consisted of a small double bed with bedside tables in cupboard form. There was also a corner dressing table with stool that had a cupboard one side and 3-drawers the other side with a connecting vanity drawer. On top of this dressing table was tea/coffee/ hot chocolate facilities, information about the room/hotel/local area/ useful & emergency numbers and a small flat screen TV but no mirror which was odd for a dressing table. There was also a single wardrobe. The windows have frosted glass so no views to see.
The bathroom was small with just a single sink, a toilet, a large mirror and a narrow shower but with a great power shower that has 3 different settings.
The bar area has a wooden theme with wooden ceiling beams and was split into 2 sections, 1 at the back of the bar and 1 in front. At the back was a large wooden table for 12 people and a couple of smaller tables. There was a large log fire and boards games to give a homely feel. At the front was smaller wooden tables and have a lovely country feel.
Breakfast consisted of toast, cold meats & cheese, cereals and juices which you helped yourself to and there was cooked hot food available too but as we asked for the 1st sitting of the morning and the chef was running late we had to leave before receiving it. They were very apologetic and refunded the money for breakfast so I was happy with that.

Our bar closing times are set around the demand we see. 10pm closing apart from Friday and Saturdays, which is 10.30pm. The times were moved to these hours when we realised we weren't seeing people after this time.
We have these hours posted on our website and door, and will review them as and when there is sufficient trade to make it cost effective to do so.
It is always worthwhile speaking with us directly for any questions or queries.
All rooms have a hairdryer in the bedside drawer
Yes you can but it’s a long walk. Takes around 15-20 minutes in a cab.
We serve two real ales that change weekly. We have Pravha lager, Staropramen Lager and Sharps Offshore Lager.
Ciders are Harry Sparrow and Thatchers Haze. We also keep Guinness and a great selection of Bottles and spirits.
This answer is based upon our current offer and with a bar refurbishment next year, will increase substantially.
I hope this is of help.
Regards
Marc
