‘Contemporary country house with the Cotswolds warmest welcome’ Set high on an escarpment overlooking the Severn Vale this 45 bedroom country house hotel lies between the Cathedral City of Gloucester and Regency Cheltenham. Hatton Court provides the right balance between traditional hotel service and all the benefits you would expect from a contemporary hotel. The Tara Restaurant is renowned locally. It is an ideal place from which to explore the Cotswolds. Hatton Court is a reassuring size; not large and impersonal, nor too small. As a former splendid Cotswold home the feeling is of being eminently comfortable as opposed to grand. Nothing is hurried. The reception is very much a lounge, with leather sofas, magazines and an open fireplace for those chillier days. Next door the bar is more a place to relax, take tea, read and talk than to rush. The care taken to prepare the food, combined with a smiling service, is complemented by the thought that has gone into creating the Tara Restaurant. Fully refurbished in late 2009 the natural colours and soft lighting make a relaxing environment for friends and relations to enjoy each other’s company. Private dining facilities are available in the equally well appointed Cotswold Room. The peace of the surrounding countryside and comfortable bedrooms, some with whirlpool baths, make for a good night’s sleep ready for another day exploring the Cotswolds.

Lovely stay in executive double room was roomy and comfortable. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Had the evening meal option as well as the breakfast both were really tasty and service yet again was spot on.

Having been to the hotel several times in the past, but not since 2011, we were so pleased that the hotel still has the same charm and quality. Our room was perfect, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the location is beautiful. The nearby village of Painswick is stunning

We booked here because the reviews for the hotels in the city proper were so poor or the hotels were chain-motel. Hatton Court was supposed to be upscale and indeed it is more a country hotel. Quite far from Gloucester , I would say 4 miles downhill, you need a car. There is

We stayed here for 2 nights and overall had a pleasant stay. The breakfast is lovely and made fresh to order. We stayed in the west wing which is a bit dated now and could use an uplift - a few minor issues we need to sort out in our room which fell short of a 5/5 rating but

We did not have the advantage of a cut price offer and felt that our accomodation and level of service were not of the standard one expects of a four star hotel. The Hatton Court needs money invested to bring up the standard of decor and it's furnishings to meet its guests' expectations. So sad, it could be a beautiful hotel.
