The bathroom was in need of some refurbishment eg the paint was peeling off the bath panel and the fittings were rusty but the shower was adequate even if the shower head was too low for my 6' 3" and there was an abundance of extremely hot water. The room was warm and comfortable and even though the bed was... More

My husband and I were treated to this weekend away by our daughter and son in law for my husbands birthday. They had bought a package deal which included two nights at this "4 star"" hotel in an executive room which in the website states newly refurbished, a cream tea or bottle of champagne, one evening meal to the value... Very impressed, lovely setting and beautiful hotel. Sadly didn’t have much time to stick around as had to go off to work. A nice stainless steel cafeteria every room and proper coffee gets a big thumbs up from me. How I normally long for my good coffee in the morning and am let down in most hotels, not here! Comfy... I arrived rather late for check-in but staff all very pleasant and helpful. The only suggestion I would make would be to provide full cream milk in the room fridge and Tara restaurant rather than semi-skimmed which is not particularly nice with tea or cereal. All staff were very pleasant and friendly. Bed very comfortable.

Stayed here for one night meeting up with an old friend. Had dinner in the restaurant/breakfast the next day. The property is beautiful from the outside, but very tired indeed on the inside. Bar area is quite nice, but bedrooms have peeling wallpaper, holes in the plaster, old bathrooms, bedside lamps that didn't work, a window that kept slipping down... More

Beautiful location, lovely staff. Unfortunately vegetarian sandwiches equated to x2 fingers of Brie and cranberry and x2 cream cheese and cucumber. Very poor selection. Portion sizes were small but the cakes were very tasty. If you have a nut allergy be careful with the scones. I won a competition so was greatful for the visit, however would have been disappointed... More

The food is superb. We stayed for 2 nights dbb and had a lovely afternoon tea too. Each time the meal was presented beautifully and cooked to perfection. Particularly recommend Eggs Benedict for breakfast. Our room was spacious and comfortable but although the bathroom had a lovely deep corner bath and plentiful hot water it was in need of refurbishment.... More

I recently came here with my wife and another couple for their festive afternoon tea and I had a lovely experience. We were fortunate in getting a Groupon deal and the location of the hotel was halfway between the two of us so it worked out very well! What you got for the price was amazing and it definitely put... Twice a year my chums and I go to Cheltenham races and in peak times it can be difficult to find a hotel. We came across Hatton Court - and how pleased we did! We stayed in their newly refurbished Executive rooms which were lovely. Decked in a French style, spotlessly clean, comfortable bed, toiletries, even a mini bar. We... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
‘Contemporary country house with the Cotswolds warmest welcome’ Set high on an escarpment overlooking the Severn Vale this 45 bedroom country house hotel lies between the Cathedral City of Gloucester and Regency Cheltenham. Hatton Court provides the right balance between traditional hotel service and all the benefits you would expect from a contemporary hotel. The Tara Restaurant is renowned locally. It is an ideal place from which to explore the Cotswolds. Hatton Court is a reassuring size; not large and impersonal, nor too small. As a former splendid Cotswold home the feeling is of being eminently comfortable as opposed to grand. Nothing is hurried. The reception is very much a lounge, with leather sofas, magazines and an open fireplace for those chillier days. Next door the bar is more a place to relax, take tea, read and talk than to rush. The care taken to prepare the food, combined with a smiling service, is complemented by the thought that has gone into creating the Tara Restaurant. Fully refurbished in late 2009 the natural colours and soft lighting make a relaxing environment for friends and relations to enjoy each other’s company. Private dining facilities are available in the equally well appointed Cotswold Room. The peace of the surrounding countryside and comfortable bedrooms, some with whirlpool baths, make for a good night’s sleep ready for another day exploring the Cotswolds. ... more   less
