Travellers' Choice
Voted by TripAdvisor in the TOP 10% of Hotels in the World. Simply put, we LOVE what we do. "Hospitality". Not just for what it is, but for the experience that accompanies it. Strangers gather and leave as Friends. Gives you a Holiday feel. Making you smile. Homely surroundings, great company and conversation, attentive waiters, who become friends and of course fine wines from around the world. After an evening of gastro food delights, award-winning gourmet pies, laughter and the occasion singsong and music in front of the open fire retire to our courtyard of individually simple designed rooms and drift off, to wake up to the sounds, sights, and smells of the idyllic Gloucestershire countryside. Followed of course by a hearty breakfast and a stroll up the majestic May Hill. It's what we do best.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We just held my dad's funeral wake at The Farmer's Boy for fifty people and we couldn't have chosen a better location. Beautiful cosy inn and the staff were super friendly and welcoming. Working in the hospitality industry I have to say the service and set up was amazing and everyone loved the fabulous food selection and atmosphere. Can't wait to go back.

Visited today for our small team meal for Xmas. Great food, really good value and quality but the service was brilliant, the lady who greeted and served us the majority of the time was so welcoming and friendly throughout, an absolute credit. The gentleman who came in a little later was also great. I’ll be suggesting to colleagues when they visit our office!

Came here for an anniversary trip away and absolutely loved our time here. Stayed for 2 nights and ate in the restaurant both nights. Food delicious and the pies were amazing. Best I've ever had! Everyone was so friendly, shout out to Phil and Pierce for making us feel so welcome. The room itself was comfy, clean and had everything we needed and we were also pleasantly surprised that the heating was on the whole time which was needed as the frost set in. We wouldn't hesitate to come back, and may have to as I'm already missing the pies!

Good value pub/accommodation. Great pub, food, atmosphere. The pie i had was very good. The room was comfortable and a good size. Note - Wifi and mobile signal wasn't great when i stayed but that is dependent upon networks.

Having visited the pub a few years ago, the prospect of going back got my tastebuds working in anticipation. The welcome at the pub was excellent, the room was comfortable and, once the heating was switched on, very cosy. The meal in the pub was everything I had anticipated - delicious! Breakfast the following morning was good value and set me up for the day. A great stay, thank you.

To start with, the staff are amazing - even phoning me before I arrived to ensure I knew when the kitchen closed to make sure I didn't miss dinner. The pub, the food and the beer was excellent - the game pie and the full English breakfast are highly recommended - and a decent size pot of tea too! The rooms are a short walk from the pub (maybe 10 metres) and are self contained with a kettle and tea/coffee etc and a small but perfectly functional bathroom. The room was clean and tidy, plenty of space for a couple (although there was just me this time), USB sockets on some of the mains sockets and a TV. OK, it's not the largest nor the poshest room I have stayed in, but it was warm, comfortable and clean, and with the pub next door why spend any more time in the room than you have to! For me the one thing missing was any form of a table to set the laptop up, but that's a minor consideration as I could have taken it to the pub. The next time I have client business in Ross On Wye, I will stay here again.

We stayed here for a few nights following a wedding and had a brilliant time! The rooms were cozy and clean (thank you housekeeping staff) and the pub staff were all so helpful and friendly - especially Jackie the breakfast lady! The pub food is excellent and we loved breakfast. I will definitely be recommending to friends!

This is our 6th visit to The Farmers Boy over many years, we have been there on our own and also with friends. As usual the experience was wonderful, our room was lovely, all of the staff were so friendly. Both the duty manager and ‘T’ were amazing. During our stay it was my wife’s birthday, they went over and above to make it very special, they decorated our table for dinner , which was lovely. The food was delicious, all piping hot and so tasty. We can feel a 7th visit coming soon. Well done Phil and team.

EV charging points and a lovely meal en route to Ross on Wye. I needed to recharge my electric car and specifically stopped at this lovely pub that has 2 high speed Instavolt chargers. A life saver when you come off of the motorways and are driving long distances. The car was fully charged within 30 mins and we have 4 lovely meals. The pies are highly recommended.
