Turned up for a midweek evening meal. Nice decor, and warm on a cold winters night. Good selection on menu, although maybe a bit overpriced. Several personal dislikes though: Food served in a wooden box, sorry but that is just wrong, pretentious and unhygienic. Food served in multiple ceramic dishes on your plate, i.e pie (rather a casserole with a...

Visited today for Sunday lunch, we were expecting the food to be delicious, however we were disappointed. The soup was bland, as was the veg with the main, the dessert was nothing special either, was expecting amazing things but did not deliver-the staff were friendly though! Would not visit again for food as it was far from a cheap meal,...

We went for a late lunch on Saturday and were welcomed both by staff and locals. We were warned there would be a wait for the food as they were busy so we did not mind as the food was delicious when it arrived. The staff were all helpful and knowledgeable about the menu - special mention should be made...

Stayed here end of December for one night for our wedding anniversary. Very friendly, helpful staff (although not a lot of them so slow service)and a great pub and restaurant with lovely food. However the accommodation wasn't great, the rooms are in a small purpose built building behind the pub, ours was quite cold. Rooms were basic with little space...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Simply put, we love food. Not just for what it is, but for the experience that accompanies it. Homely surroundings, great company and conversation, attentive waiters, who become friends and of course fine wines from around the world. After a evening of gastro food delights, gourmet pies and laughter infront of the open fire retire to our courtyard of boutique individually designed rooms and drift off, to wake up to the sounds, sights and smells of the idyllic gloucestershire countryside. Followed of course by a hearty breakfast and maybe a stroll up the majestic May Hill ... more   less
