Stopped for a late lunch today after a walk on the Cotswold way. Really friendly, delicious and excellent value food and we felt really welcome even with our tribe of slightly noisy kids :) The landlady was absolutely lovely with them. It's our second visit and won't be our last .... Especially now I know about the fried chicken and that mega tikka burger. Yum.

We visited the Old Crown Inn yesterday evening. 5 of us had a wonderful evening. Two us had the Steak which was melt in the mouth. Served with crunchy and fluffy inside chips, homemade onion rings, a mushroom topped with crunchy breadcrumbs and in addition a portion of delicious Dauphinoise on top! Two others had the battered cod. The batter was light but incredibly crunchy and the cod just flaked at the introduction of a fork. The vegetarian tikka masala burger was the final hit of the meal! All 5 of us enjoy a drink (or a "few") and the staff were so attentive, we didn't have to wait once - which is really important for me. And then a couple of rounds of Irish coffee laced with quality whiskey ended a memorable evening! I can't recommend this pub enough. They've obviously put in a huge amount of effort and they genuinely care about their customers. In this day and age when pubs are struggling to see a place go that extra mile is truly brilliant. Top marks!

Beautiful birthday buffet with superb service and warm welcome after long winter walk in the spectacular valley of Uley.
Kate the wonderful landlord of the Old Crown Inn in Uley, along with her business partner a chef extraordinaire Tom, helped make my birthday really special.
The food was divine, teriyaki chicken so tender and full of flavour, absolutely out of this world! We had a great selection of different mouth watering dips, sides, sausage rolls (so good!), local ham rolls, pomegranate cous cous, delicious cheeses, plus many more sweet and savoury bite size morsels of yumminess. The buffet was very reasonably priced and of a very high quality.
We were also running late, and despite an exceptionally busy day at the pub with other parties and events, Kate and her team accommodated us with calm reassurances that we were still ok to have the food half an hour later than planned.
All in all, I really enjoyed my birthday thanks to Kate, Tom and her team - it was a really special day full of fantastic food, company and fun in a very lovely pub.

On arrival at the pub for a new years get away we were told that there had been a leak in our room the previous day and our room was now unavailable and our reservation cancelled. They had made no attempt to contact us in that time, claiming incorrectly it was a booking.com reservation and their reponsibility despite having all our details because we had booked directly with them. There was no offer of help to find alternate accomodation or advice given so we sat in the corner of the pub and started looking if there was anywhere in the vicinity that had availablity. Luckily after some searching we found somewhere, no thanks to The Old Crown Inn..
When we got back my wife emailed Kate and we were told I would be refunded straight away.
However this was all a lie from Kate and the last we've ever heard from her, no one ever answers the phone, returns a call or replies to an email. After 4 months of we are still attempting to get a refund.
Would not recommend rolling the dice with this b&b/pub there are better options out there.

Terrible place to stay. Maybe go for a drink/food might be ok if you can put up with the sensitive landlady.
No keys available to the room or front door, no ironing board, needs a clean and updating.
DO NOT STAY HERE.

Response from Manager OldCrown, Owner at The Old Crown Inn
Responded 15 Sept 2023
Ok it’s time for the other side of this story… You were part of a small group of people here for a wedding who were openly asking for drugs and loudly discussing where drugs could be obtained and taken. Then a member of the local travelling community mysteriously appeared, presumably contacted by one of your group as he has never been here before. Your group then openly attempted to buy drugs from him. You were all asked to leave the premises and this situation has been reported to the police accordingly. You have now left us several negative reviews (which are not 100% accurate either) which we were trying to ignore but feel now that our side must be heard for fairness. We are just a small quiet country pub with a responsibility towards our local community and we do not want that kind of behaviour here at all. But more importantly we are a licensed premises; we take our licence and position seriously and so we have an absolute zero tolerance policy towards drugs.

We booked for Sunday lunch. Never again! We waited 1 hour 30 minutes for our food, which arrived lukewarm. We pointed this out to the waitress but no offer to rectify was made. We would have been reluctant to send it back to the kitchen anyway in case we had to wait another hour and a half. We ate our food but we complained about the wait and the temperature of the food. The owner/Manager and the 'chef' responded in an aggressive rude and discourteous manner, accusing us of just wanting something for nothing since we had eaten the food.

Just had Sunday lunch - the best one I have ever had in term of both quality and quantity. Could not make room for any dessert I am afraid. Five stars. Always a consistent in terms of quality. Had Christmas Dinner that was also very good.
They cook everything to order nothing is out of a packet so you might need to wait and have a beer or two😄

Went last Tuesday to the 'Pie Night', good selection of pies, very tasty, nice veg, well cooked, plentiful, and great value for money. Very nice owners working hands on, and a good crowd of people. Very impressed all around, wasn't really going there to judge it but I really do feel the need to write a review showing my appreciation.

This pub is a very friendly place to visit for drinks or food. We visited several times for drinks next to the warmth of the fire. We had dinner one night that was enjoyed by all 5 of us who ordered different meals. It was so tasty that we went back the next day for Sunday Lunch which was just as delicious. Highly recommended.

We stayed in an Airbnb in Uley over the New Year. Wanting a pub we could walk to that was dog friendly we booked into the Old Crown for lunch on the 29th, they have clearly been very busy throughout December. They were very friendly and welcoming, very dog friendly, and we had a lovely lunch. The quality of the food was excellent and husband enjoyed the Prescotts Dark Ale.
