We offer holiday cottages in this magical Cotswold valley, which has long been recognized as one of the most romantic places in England. Come and relax in our nine Cotswold holiday cottages which sleep from two to eight guests (38 in total for larger groups). The cottages range from listed buildings and farmhouses to small romantic one-bed woodland retreats and a studio apartment, so there is something for everyone! At the centre of this secluded Cotswold valley is Owlpen Manor house, a medieval manor house which is lived in by the Mander family, and is described as "the loveliest place in England". We manage all of the properties ourselves, and like to feel that our guests are coming to stay with us when they arrive in this perfect corner of the Cotswolds.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We fell in love with Owlpen Manor immediately on entering the site. Its own little valley with the most beautiful venue set within. The 15c Cider Barn is the most beautiful and atmospheric place to hold the ceremony, it is small and perfectly formed and suited our plan for 60ish guests. The new edition of the pole barn is also a beautiful piece of architecture and with the wood used in construction being from the estate made it even more special. We were so excited that you could have the site for the weekend and that the holiday cottages on the estate were also made available for wedding guests. My only warning is that some of the cottages are a little quirky so do consider which guests you invite to stay with you and work out if there is suitable accommodation before inviting people to stay on site. We read the reviews which all said that the staff were great, amazing, couldn’t do enough etc but it still didn’t prepare us for how amazing the team at Owlpen are. They could not do enough to help you through the process from the basic booking to timings for the day and even when we asked stupid questions they were very forgiving. We arranged a couple of trips to the venue with Photographer, Florist etc and were always met with smiling faces. It was great to be able to put up decorations the day before as it leaves the morning of the wedding a little more relaxed, saying that all the staff were amazing on the wedding day from those seen and those behind the scenes and a well deserved thanks to them all. A special thanks to Mel our coordinator and Luke who ran our front of house, they were both incredible and could not have done enough for us or our guests. They really made you feel as though your day was as special to them as it was to you and your guests. I must say the day ran pretty much faultlessly but I am not sure we would have know if any problems had arisen as the team at Owlpen Manor seemed to be prepared for almost all eventualities. A huge thanks to all involved. Jane B

We attended a family wedding and stayed in one of the cottages for the weekend. The staff were the most attentive I have ever experienced at a function. They engaged in conversation, went out of their way to fulfill special requests from guests and were just generally happy and accommodating. The cottage was perfect and had everything we needed and was close enough to make it convenient for popping back and forth to the venue. We all had an amazing weekend, thank you Owlpen.

Where do we start? From the moment we came to see the venue till the moment we packed up after our mid-August wedding the whole experience provided from the team at Owlpen Manor was nothing short of exemplary. The venue itself is beautiful, from the quirky cottages to the wonderful Cyder and Pole Barns and the incredible scenery the whole place was a perfect backdrop for our big day. The team at Owlpen manor were clear in their communication, organised and extremely helpful in the months before the occasion. They were quick to respond to emails and flexible with our requests. The whole team, to a person made organising the day a smooth and stress-free process. We had our ceremony on the top lawn which was a perfect setting for a summers' day with beautiful scenery adding to the photos. Our wedding coordinator on the day, Bella was clearly very passionate about making our special day the best it could be and ran the day perfectly. Luke, Theo and the rest of the service team were very professional, friendly and made us delicious margaritas (these were heavily sampled by us and our guests throughout the evening, much to our dismay the next morning!). Another special mention to Hugo and Tonya who were brilliant in the lead up to the day, nothing was too much for them! A wedding is obviously a very important day for those planning one. Not only is Owlpen aesthetically stunning, the warm soul that makes it truly special comes from the hospitality provided by a team of people who are clearly passionate, caring and very skilled at what they do. Thank you from the bottom of our newly-married hearts. Jimmy and Caroline Drummond-Hoskins

Attended a wedding here recently. Had booked Grist Mill for the two days at a price tag of £825. Arrived to find the property wasn’t very clean, the floor was disgustingly dirty, the toilets weren’t 100% clean, the dishwasher was full of items which hadn’t washed very well. Out of date salmon had been left in the fridge. Whilst the venue warn of the stairs being steep, this is an understatement. My toddler and I nearly fell down the stairs on a few occasions which are very uneven and not safe. There were cobwebs throughout the house not to mention frogs, spiders, woodlice and large moths. Would imagine the house is freezing in the winter as the doors are not weather tight. Very disappointing considering the cost.

Owlpen Manor have ruined our Christmas plans. We booked in July to stay in two adjoining cottages to house 3 families from across the country spending Christmas together. We messaged via Air B&B last week to ask about decorations only to be told there was no booking (despite having a confirmation number and deposit paid). It turned out they had also booked the property privately and were insisting we cancel 33 days before Christmas with no alternative or support. Their approach to our booking has been disgraceful, clearly earning more money with another booking they have now cancelled our dream gateway just before Christmas. Be warned if booking through Air B&B that the staff at Owlpen Manor value profit more than people and will not hesitate to cancel a booking if something better comes along…

We are sorry to say that this is not an accurate portrayal of what happened. An Online Travel Agent allowed a property to be booked twice, and we had to honour the first booking that had been made. We were forced to cancel these guests and pay a huge cancellation fee to the travel agent, who offered no help whatsoever. We have apologised to these guests profusely, but they remained convinced that this was our fault. We are a small business whose reputation is crucial to our existence, and we were saddened by the harsh words above, but we remain apologetic and willing to help in whatever way that we can. We wish Makenimango3 all the very best wishes for the future.

I was a very privileged wedding guest to attend a superb wedding in this most romantic venue. It really is a special place and it was hard to drink it all in but the venue offers so many beautiful outside spaces for photographic opportunities. All aspects of the service we received over the weekend were outstanding. We hope to return another time to walk the paths and drink in the beauty of this area.

We have just returned from the perfect midweek wedding of our son and daughter-in-law. We knew even before the day that we were dealing with a highly professional team, who knew what they were doing, but at the same time took the time to listen and accommodate the wants and desires of the happy couple. Planning a wedding during lockdown has not been easy, but Bella and her team supported us throughout. On the day, the Owlpen manor team ensured that our Bride and Groom had the most perfect of days and began married life without any stress. Set in the beautiful Cotswold hills, the facilities for the wedding were beautiful. The staff on hand were obliging, and unobtrusive ensuring guests had their drinks topped up and everyone knew where they needed to be and when. The food was great and everyone had a fantastic time. We were lucky enough to stay on site in the wonderful Grist Mill. I would highly recommend this as place to stay, even if you’re not planning a wedding, the accommodations laid out over three floors included a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and comfortable lounge. A huge thank you to Bella and the Owlpen team who made our stay relaxing and helped the happy couple start married life together without stress or worry.

Stayed 2022, loved the valley and the house. Stayed in a little house with a wood-burning stove that was full of love and had a nice garden with good views. Idyllic walks in the area: we saw no one all weekend. Perfect!

Just having spend a weekend at Summerfield Cottage on the Owlpen Manor Estate I feel compelled to write this review. On arriving on the Friday it seemed obvious that workmen (painters/electricians) had recently left the property, which wasn’t in itself a problem, but the problem throughout the property was its general cleanliness, which was the worst that we have ever experienced in holiday cottages. For example the following: Outside kitchen cupboards - ingrained fingermarks (even more unsatisfactory when everything is meant to be super-clean) Windows need cleaning inside and out Hangers in the wardrobe - thick layer of dust had to be cleaned before they could be used Ceiling of microwave - grubby food stains Back of toilet seat grubby and dusty Kitchen light fitting not cleaned for a long time Front of lounge storage heater not wiped for a long time Inside of bread bin clean, but outside covered in a layer of dust Outside of cottage some electricians bits still there and path in need of a brush Bath panel grubby - grouting round the bath needs redoing Curtain linings in lounge scorched from storage heater on a previous occasion - seems hazardous to us Table legs covered in dust There was no kitchen waste bin The only positives - effective heating, hot water and shower, the crockery was clean and the bed was comfortable and clean, with good wifi. I noticed the owners of these problems a week ago, but have had no response from them to my complaints.

We are sorry that JackS was not entirely satisfied with their stay at Summerfield Cottage. We apologised for any faults and took full responsibility for the mistakes following a period of refurbishment. Sadly we were not made aware of the faults while the guest was staying, in which case we could have remedied all of them by way of an upgrade or an enhanced clean. As we were notified after the guest had departed, we offered JackS a voucher for an alternative upgraded stay but this has not been accepted.
