Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just returned from our stay in Borgue. While we were there we had the pleasure of eating in the Borgue Hotel where we were greeted by Martin who went on to ply us with drinks of our choice. We ordered food and it was very tasty which was cooked by Michelle. Highlight food that we had was the Steak pie and the Sticky ginger pudding. Martin and Michelle were very friendly and fun as were the regulars. Martin helped me out by bringing a coat i had left at the last meal and i want to offer my sincere thanks. Thank you Borgue team.

We visited three times on our weekend stay to Brunswick Bay and couldn't have been made more welcome by the owner,Martin and his wife Michelle. The locals were so friendly too. We both had the homemade steak pie which was delicious and finished with the Ginger Sponge and Custard and ice cream for desert which were both so good. Would definitely return if in the area again, thankyou to you and your staff.

We popped in for food on a Friday night. We turned up for first orders (5.30) and were the first in. Given a warm welcome and lots of information on the food and drink on offer. Food arrived quite quickly, was piping hot and wholesome. Cumberland sausage and mash with a delicious gravy and a lamb shank with mash and equally delicious gravy and extra in a gravy boat👍 We followed it up with a ginger sponge and a sticky toffee sponge both with custard and ice cream. Very full 😊 The pub filled up with locals and visitors. A great atmosphere. Lots of chat with the owners. Lovely people. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area. They’re on their way to the trip advisor hall of fame or would be if it was still a thing 🤷🏻

We went for a family Sunday lunch which I believe is only the first or second weekend of each month? Anyway my family use the hotel a fair bit but I wasn’t sure what to expect for Sunday lunch. Anyway we had a very warm welcome, plenty of choice of beer (tap and bottled). We all had beef which was well cooked sirloin with loads of veg. All of it was homemade, and not a whiff of any pre-prepped Yorkshire puddings or Aunt Bessie’s parsnips! It’s clear that the owners of the hotel are very hardworking people who want you to have a nice experience. Well done to all the staff and thanks for the hospitality!

We stumbled across this lovely dog friendly pub last September whilst staying in the area. We were so impressed we booked a cottage in the village this year…..no driving involved for a night out. Michelle and Martin go the extra mile to make their customers and dogs very welcome. The food is delicious and extremely reasonably priced. Even the dogs are well catered for with treats and a doggy water dispenser., brilliant idea. Thank you for your expert hospitality and making room to feed us on a busy, wet, Wednesday evening, much appreciated. Michelle’s lasagne outshone the prospect of beans on crumpets back at the cottage. All the meals we ate during our week away were divine and the deserts are not to be missed either. We were gutted we missed out on the afternoon tea and Sunday roast, bad timing on our part, hopefully next time……

We have just visited 'Borgue Hotel' for evening meal (following a recommendation from Grace and Kevin @ Seaward caravan park). Really wish we had visited earlier in our holiday - just so we could have returned for another meal. It really was a beautiful meal in very friendly and traditional surroundings. Martin and his wife are doing a fantastic job. We enjoyed every bit of our meals (steak pie and chips and beef curry and to finish - biscoff cheesecake with locally sourced ice cream). I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area - make sure you arrive early - start serving food 5.30pm, sure you won't be disappointed. Such a nice little find, thanks to the best hosts. Cheers Sheila and Shane from 'Lancashire'

We could not have received a warmer welcome from Martin and Michelle, from the minute we walked through the door we knew we were onto something special, I checked the opening times via messenger so arriving just after midday knew lunch was guaranteed, a nice selection of beers, lagers, all well kept, I had an IPA it was spot on, as for lunch, I had a Black Burger and Gillian opted for Lasagne, both dishes were homemade, well cooked and well presented and went down a treat, all in all a great lunch, if you are in the area it's definitely worth a visit, and another bonus is they're dog friendly.
