We loved this quirky accomodation. The owners were friendly and helpful. Lovely setting for breakfast if going b and b. Just as happy in the tower top lounge to see the 360 view or lunching in the garden below. Short walk into the village.

We stayed in the wonderful, historic Moulin Géant for our honeymoon - and absolutely loved it here in every way. The multi-lingual (French, German & English) host, Elke, was very welcoming, very helpful with great recommendations for places to visit and restaurants, as well as prepare delicious breakfasts with home-made jams. The place itself was just magical - with creative, quirky and cosy interior design and great facilities (very nice powerful shower etc). The surrounding area and 360° views from the top were breath-taking across the nearby village/church, vineyards and hills (I personally recommend getting up early for sunrise with a nice coffee, or evening sun-down with a glass of the local wine, but it’s great any time of day!). As well as being wonderfully quiet and peaceful accommodation, it’s also within easy and pleasant walking distance to the village local shops and bars, and of course the Loire river. It probably goes without saying that locally it’s a fantastic place for wine, being surrounded by the many vineyards! Elke is well connected with local facilities providers too – which was great because we ended up hiring bicycles for a couple of days from a contact of hers for a very reasonable price. There is just one thing we would like to change about the stay, and that is that we’d have loved to have stayed longer! We very much hope to come back some day, and would certainly recommend this place to anyone wanting a peaceful break with stunning views in somewhere quirky and interesting.

Our group of bikers was met on arrival by Elke who went to great lengths to make us feel welcome and gave us an extensive tour of the property, which is situated quite high on the southern side of the Loire with impressive panoramic views over the town of Rochefort sur Loire. Our accommodation was located to the side of the Moulin and was everything we expected = clean, spacious and comfortable. For guests new to the area there are available numerous guides and maps etc. also Elke has extensive local knowledge in English, French and German ! The breakfast (served in the communal kitchen/diner) did not disappoint and the vast selection freshly prepared and at our requested time, we all struggled with lunch that day for obvious reasons.

We were 10 bikers on our way down the Loire river. We occupied all the rooms for just one night, and all of us enjoyed our stay tremendously. The place is magical. I had the room on top of the Moulin, and did not mind the lack of drapes there because the 360 degrees view was magnificent. Rooms were very comfortable, and clean, breakfast plentiful with home made jams, and Elke our hostess a wonderful person who is happy to share her story of the Moulin and surroundings.

We only stayed one night at this chambre d'hote on our travels along the Loire but would happily return. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Unfortunately the moulin itself was not available but Elke, the very pleasant owner showed us through the moulin in the morning. Next time we would stay in the moulin. The 360deg views from the lounge at the top are amazing. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful and we spent a long time chatting with Elke over breakfast about the history of the moulin and its restoration as well as learning many things about the area. A very pleasant and interesting stay.

We found this a charming property. The breakfast was excellent and rooms clean and well equipped. Elke (the owner) was a very helpful, interesting & funny lady. It was a pity that the weather wasn't that good, but the view from the house was amazing anyway.

We stayed here for 5 nights during a 17 days holiday touring France on motorbike. Found the village without any trouble and a kind man in the cafe took us up the hill to the windmill. The road was very rough not good for motorbikes, however once there the place itself was something special. We were a little disappointed that we weren't staying in the mill itself, but the rooms we had were really nice. Elke was very friendly and on the first night booked us into a nearby restaurant which was excellent value for money. We toured the area and found some lovely sights - Elke was once again forthcoming with places to see and things to do. It was a pity that the weather wasn't that good, the worse summer in years!! But on the whole this was a lovely few days to rest and recoup before we moved on to the coast.

We stayed in the windmill, which was fantastic. The view was amazing. We got up next morning to watch the fog lift & the sunrise. Elke (the owner) was a very helpful, interesting & funny lady. She phoned a local restaurant for us to make sure he was opening (Sunday evenings they sometimes don't bother), she told us lots of information about the local area & it's history. She was a great hostess & made us laugh a lot & so did her barmy cat & dog!! We would definately return, but for a longer stay next time.

As two friends we were cycling from Bilbao to the UK. This accommodation was found for us by the local Tourist Board. We arrived tired and needing a shower. We were warmly welcomed by the lady of the house and shown to our rooms. There were a number of places in the village to eat but we choose to visit a local festival. The people of the town were warm and welcoming. Good breakfast next morning and an interesting discussion with the owner about local history and surrounding geography. Suggest this is a good honest interesting place to stay.
