Mouton" is situated in Port de Vallee, a tiny hamlet near Angers. It is a "longere" i.e. a long house, the oldest part of which is a tower built in the 17th century. It used to be an inn and a tollhouse for the river traffic on the Loire. A century later the current livingroom and kitchen were added. A very extensive terrace is at the front of the house. Breakfast and dinner are served there. There are very comfortable couches and chairs.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We spent a night here on our way south. It is a beautifully presented rustic building and outhouses, well equipped and maintained to the highest standards. The welcome from our hosts couldn't have been better and we were looked after superbly. Can't recommend it highly enough

It was so nice to stay at le Mouton. Their was a warm welcome, with a nice glass of loire wine. We felt at home immerdiatly. The roomswas comfortabel and the bed slept very well. The bathroom was nice too. Le Mouton is situated just fine. Close to the Loire, in the middle off green fields, no traffic. But on the other hand close to everything even by foot. We loved the dogs and the sheep too. Love to come back.

Friendly and approachable hosts, generous breakfast, impeccable service, stunning manor house and grounds with delightful farm dogs and eponymous sheep, situated a stone's throw from the peaceful Loire river. Beautifully furnished room, hot shower with strong water pressure, comfortable bed, and convenient parking. I stayed here in September 2021 in order to attend a friend's wedding in a nearby town. It was the perfect place to return after the festivities, to rest, sleep in, take walks along fields of flowers and stop by the nearby boat landing to look out over the gently flowing river. Hosts made me feel relaxed and at home. Exactly what I needed.

We were welcomed so heartily and made to fel at home. The accommodation was double storey with a deck for relaxing with a drink. The home-cooked food was really tasty and having a black sheep running free around the accommodation was so delightful. The Loire River across the road was beautiful. The nearby villages were absolutely typical French with historical buildings. Will try to return again.

Mirjam, Jacques and Chantal hosted my 1 year old daughter, mother and I for a full week and nothing was too much trouble in terms of accommodating the multitude needs of a little one and anticipating what we would need to make our stay relaxing and enjoyable. A relaxed but extremely attentive hosting style which was exactly what we were after for our stay. We had a drink in hand within seconds of our arrival! Mirjam is an amazing cook and we ate beautiful meals at Le Mouton every night (complete with mini "tasting menus" for my daughter), while the team gave us great recommendations for lunch-time restaurants nearby. A place to go back to!

From the minute we were greeted by the dogs and a cold beer and glass of wine with some nibbles, to the moment we left, we were hosted, beautifully and generously by Mirjam and Chantal ... The tower suite is one of the most interesting and lovely rooms I have ever stayed in! We went for a walk along the shores of Loire just a stones throw away and we were shown the way “guided” by the dogs! Dinner was home cooked and 3 delicious courses served in a garden room in the courtyard with small log burner roaring as the evening cooled off In the morning we enjoyed a lovely breakfast and then a sunbathe and dip in the pool before making our way onto Le Havre for our ferry home

Warm welcome and laid back atmosphere. Bit pricey - but the location makes up for it. Stayed in the room over the garden bar/breakfast room. Very spacious and comfortable. Nice grounds and in a good location if you're into cycling.

Lovely property, setting and hosts. From initial queries via email to our stay nothing was too much trouble. Mirjam, Ton and Jacques were all very welcoming and hospitable. We were upgraded to a wonderful room- Le Mouton d'Or - with en suite bathroom and own entrance. We were also able to partake in dinner beautifully cooked by Mirjam. A very relaxed and enjoyable evening. Swimming pool, hot tub and private parking a bonus too. Amazing B & B and would definitely recommend.

Wonderful quiet setting around 45 minutes' drive from Angers airport. The grounds are beautifully-kept and include a pool (good for cooling down) and a jacuzzi. The hosts, Ton and Mirjam, are the model of hospitality and couldn't be more helpful. Breakfast included delicious baguettes and croissants and it was lovely to eat them on the tables outside. The local roads are quiet and great for cycling and there are plenty of villages to explore. We stayed in the blue room which was large and nicely decorated - the shower / bath is quite small though, so it might be worth asking for a bigger bathroom if you're planning on a longer stay. Overall, highly recommended to all.
