We booked a stay at de oude kasteel for two nights, but it was so disappointing that we left after just one. The owners lack hospitality, no efforts were made to welcome us, we never even met them and was only "greeted" by the son, whom thought so little of the guests that he didn't even wear shoes.... Our cottage...

I found the main house very inviting and yes the décor could do with some updating and a comfy couch in the lounge would be awesome but I cannot fault the bedrooms. Both rooms are double and one has a lovely large shower and the other a gorgeous roll top bath (take bubbles with and enjoy a comfy soak) The...

We booked Oude Kasteel main house. Although we had a comfortable stay, it must be noted that this is a basic cottage with basic accommodation, the furniture is old and tired and the entire place can do with an update, as well as a good clean. There is no tv. There is a fireplace in the main lounge and wood...

The comfortable, welcoming and fully equipped guesthouse is ideal for a romantic weekend away, or family break. The large comfortable house is decorated to give an authentic wine country experience and is within walking distance of local restaurants and shops. The owners and staff made us feel right at home, were never more than a phone call away, and provided...

The antique guesthouse is snug in a quiet, homely area of the village not far from the friendly local restaurants and foodstores. Although the town is known for the sweltering heat, the rooms are all equipped with high ceilings and fans and there is also a small pool. The manageress and her son who run the guesthouse were more than...

We had the most horrendous stay at De Oude Kasteel guesthouse on Saturday 19 January. Unlike much of the other accommodation in the town, there is no air-conditioning and in sweltering heat we were forced to leave the small windows open. With no mosquito nets and ceiling fans which did not work we had no protection against thousands of mosquitoes...

We stayed at the Sunrise Cottage in De Oude Kasteel for three nights with two other couples. We never met the owner/manager as she dropped the key off with the first arrivals and left to go on a cruise. We tried the first night to sleep in the loft, but there was no air circulation and it was unbearably hot....

De Oude Kasteel is set in the charming village of Riebeek Kasteel. It is clean, well kept and very spacious. The owner was helpful and friendly and we had a fantastic weekend. Riebeek kasteel makes for a magical weekend breakaway destination. The main house has 2 rooms with on-suit and a large kitchen/living area. Braai facilities and a splash "pond"....
