Staying at Mangrove Lodge feels like coming home. The relaxed atmosphere and cozy places to wind down makes is the perfect place to chill while overlooking the ocean and the ruins - whether travelling solo or with friends. Marina and Haji treat you like family and will do their best to fulfill any request you may have, be it food-wise...

Super laid back admosphere, nice staff, great place, good food freshly cooked with local products. This is a great location if you are not the "average tourist" no aircondition, no hotel entertainment, no anoying people. Instead, a real jungle feeling, lemours, cats and birds nice lodge rooms in the shade, an empty beach, close to Stone Town and a good...

Great value for money, only 10 rooms so its quiet and their private beach is awesome. Just a short 15 minutes to Stone Town if you want to do the activities/shops there. The meal is of a high quality especially the dinners. Rooms are huge and have lovely views of the sea and/or garden. Get the owners to organise a...

What a lovely, lovely place. We were greeted warmly by Marina and Haji - the owners - who were generous with their knowledge of the island and helpful recommendations. The place is beautifully decorated with numerous places to laze about and enjoy stunning views. The food was delicious which was a real bonus. About a half hour drive from Stonetown...

Mangrove Lodge was my best experience in Tanzania! Very authentic- family owned lodge with beautiful rooms and views. Dining experience is amazing and massage/ yoga made the lodge very special. Wi-Fi available for free in common areas (beautiful view, great for relaxing). Beach access- almost private with no other hotels nearby, but still close to Stone Town. Safe transportation was...

The Mangrove Lodge is, in short, paradise. It has a very relaxing, family-friendly atmosphere and it lacks the touristy feeling that you find elsewhere on the island. Everyone is so welcoming and genuinely friendly. Haji and Marina (the owners) are the perfect hosts and their sons (who are all absolutely brilliant) kept us entertained. Shelley, who is researching waste management...

If you want to get a way from it all, then this is the place to do it. From beach-front yoga to an incredible menu that marries Italian and Zanzibari cuisine. The rooms are spacious with high ceilings and practical design. Nothing was a problem for the staff who were ALL very helpful ALL the time. If I had to...

My 5th trip to Mangrove, it's a home away from home. The gardens are special, a maze of hibiscous and bourgainvilliea arch over soft sandy pathways, tall mango trees and swaying palms give Mangrove a hideaway for bush babies and humming birds. Mangrove is an accessable location, making it ideal to nip into stone town for dinner and then comehome...

Wow! If you want a secluded quite romantic getaway... This is the place. It was a dream! You'd get consulted daily or however often you wanted on what you fancied eating. Anything from authentic Zanzibari food to Spanish, English, American or let them surprise you. Plenty of fresh exotics and usual fruits as well. We went with our two girls...
