We stayed at the Chateau du Rodie in August with 5 other families and took the whole Chateau. The chateau wonderfully historic with many original features. My husband and I stayed at this Chateau and we couldn't fault it. The family were very hospitable and nothing was too much trouble for them to keep us happy. The food was excellent too and by the way - not a mouse to be seen!!!! We also paid a deposit and it was returned on us leaving the Chateau... More

I am compelled to write this as a warning to others about the hopeless deposit system at this Chateau. We booked Chateau de Rodie for one week in July on the basis of hiring the whole house, which was listed as accommodating up to 30 people. As is usual practice in gîtes we ask for a security deposit and guests are recommended to take out a holiday insurance as accidents can and do happen. With over 600 items of crockery and cutlery alone it is impossible to do the inventory with guests but lists of the equipment available are left in the relevant places. We check... More
