Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had one of the nicest Sunday dinners ever here. I’ve travelled the length and breadth of the UK and the food and service here ranks amongst the best. We are staying here this weekend so I can relax, have a drink and not have to think about driving. Sat in front of a roaring log fire in the bar with a large Rum. What could be better. This will be a regular weekend haunt for us.

We were really looking forward to having Sunday Dinner here. Unfortunately the reality was very much a let down. Poor food and expensive additions that really weren’t worth it, including the trio of meats that was an excuse to effectively give you the same amount of food but charge you £4 more. We won’t be hurrying back!

We had a delicious lunch today, I had the tastiest beetroot wellingon and then a gorgeous creme brulee. The service was fantastic and we loved the location. Looking forward to another visit. Highly recommended.

Looked forward to a Sunday roast with my partner, have to say before I start , perfect setting .. weather conditions great to sit outside in beautiful manicured surroundings , been here before and know that its a great place to eat and drink however we were a disappointed with the quantity and quality of some of the roast ... one carrot per plate each , 2 roast potatoes per plate each ( after all that's what a Sunday roast is all about ..roast potatoes mainly ) one small parsnip ea ! maybe one or two more of each would have been nice , didn't want lashings or be greedy but i think there was room for a tad more. The greens were mostly nice and fresh except the broccoli a little oxidised .. yellowish instead of a lush green , cauliflower cheese little on the tough side , but my Quorn pie and my partners beef were lovely .. all in all hard to rave about but just a little more attention to quantity and quality and it would have been better all around including review..still beautiful well run pub with great facilities to stay including your pet. And we will go back as I Know it to be a quality pub !

We first visited this hotel in 2019, so pre pandemic. There have been some notable changes in adding another fine terrace and garden area at the rear of the hotel. The staff are fantastic. Teamwork shines through and they always have a smile on their faces. We thoroughly enjoyed two great evening meals and two breakfasts. It's in a lovely setting and just down the road from the small town of Usk. Our group of 6 were meeting here and we had a memorable few days together, thanks in no small part to this hotel. I'd certainly recommend the Greyhound

Tucked away in a beautiful setting, The Greyhound Inn is nothing short of perfect!. We booked as a party of 8 and none of us were disappointed. The food was amazing and arrived at our table quickly. We were met at the entrance by a very welcoming member of staff and the professionalism of all staff continued for the rest of the evening. The inside was very clean and the grounds around the inn have been well maintained. We will definitely return, we’ll done to all staff and it’s owners.

This hotel, pub , restaurant is trying really hard to provide a good service at a good price and they have succeeded. It was so nice to stay and eat somewhere where it felt like they really cared about giving you good hospitality. It wasn’t all perfect ( where is?) but for the price we paid we were impressed.

Needs updating advertised as dog friendly would say more dog tolerant. Breakfast served in separate side as we had a dog which smelt of cleaning fluids not a great experience.next to a busy road so very noisy if we had windows open we could not sleep .

Response from Kelly Jolliffe, Innkeeper at The Greyhound Inn & Hotel
Responded 27 Jul 2023
I am not convinced that you have reviewed the correct property. There is no way you can say we are only dog tolerant, when our whole business revolves around dogs. I see you failed to mention all the dog goodies that you get in your room, the doggy play paddock that is purpose built with an agility course on it. the dog breakfast sausages that we do in the mornings. Yes we have a stable bar without carpet for our dog guests, but again, i think that this is sensible. And if you are complaining about a clean smell in a dog designated area, then that is just plain odd. Would you have rather it was dirty. Nothing needs updating on my website, you get exactly what we say on the tin and more. Kelly

Went for lunch on a Monday, excellent as always, only complaint from my husband was no Liver and onions, but the beer was wonderful. The Landlady chatted with us which was nice. The gardens and outside areas are beautifully maintained and pretty..

Visiting from Australia we decided to visit one of our favourite pubs in the Usk region for dinner. Glad we did because the food was as good as always - steak and ale pie and lamb shanks faultless - but we also found out about The Uskonbury Summer Musical Festival organised by the pub to be held on the Sunday following. Held in the fields adjacent to the pub it was an excellent day of music. The event was so well organised, from the free parking and short walk to the stage areas to the exit at the end of the day. From 12 to 8pm we were entertained with bands alternating between the two stages. Family friendly, and all the people dancing in the area in front of the stages were certainly enjoying themselves. One of our bugbears when attending functions where there are large crowds (over 1000 attended) is the long queues to get food and drink. The organisers had so many friendly and efficient staff that there were never ever any long waiting times for either. As well there were activities to keep children happy and a number of cultural stores to please the adults (beware adults you could overuse your credit cards). Long may the festival continue because if we are in Wales in June over the next few years we will put it on our “Must to Do List”. A tip get there early to get one of the many benches available or bring chairs/picnic blankets to enjoy the day in comfort.
