We arrived at the Greyhound for an overnight stay after a busy and stressful day. The twinkling fairy lights in the garden looked so pretty and gave a great first impression. Check in was quick and easy and we found our dog-friendly room was warm and inviting with good quality furnishings and bedding and a very modern refurbished bathroom. Lovely touches like dog bowls, towel and poop bags were appreciated.
In need of sustenance we wandered to the bar (dogs allowed) and found a cosy spot right next to a roaring fire. The menu had a good range of pub classics and we had lasagne, chicken burger and the best chips I've had in ages. All the staff were so warm and friendly - I wish this place was my local! After a great night's sleep our breakfast was delicious with quality produce. I highly recommend a stay at the Greyhound - especially if you need a dog friendly place.

What a great stay at a fabulous Inn, and we don't say that lightly! We stayed just one night and our friends a further night to meet up with family.
The accommodation building was separate from the main Inn, so there was no noise from the pub. Our companions had 3 dogs, which were welcome there (I think about half the rooms take dogs at a small additional charge). The rooms were reasonably sized (we had a double and our friends a family room on the ground floor, allowing easy access to the lawn for themselves and the dogs via a back door to the room, and there was also a separate dog paddock). I think all rooms have showers rather than a bath. The bed was comfortable and the room had the usual facilities for hot drinks. There was also a small edible gift in the room, for us and the dogs.
The evening meal at the Inn was lovely and was served promptly, even though the place was quite busy. It had a nice atmosphere. The breakfast in the morning was plentiful with as good a choice of items as you would expect.
Nothing at the Inn was too much trouble. There was even a drying room, to use if you returned rather wet from your day out.
We will definitely return to the Greyhound Inn next Spring, when we will visit with another family member with a dog.

The owners have provided ideal accomodation if you are travelling with a dog. There is a very reasonable charge of £15 for which they provide blanket, towel, bowls and treats in the bedroom plus treats in the bar and a sausage for breakfast. There are french doors to your private seating area and a wonderful large dog paddock. Sadly, Monty refused to even try the tunnel or slide! We were pleased with our cosy well equipped bedroom and enjoyed an excellent dinner in the upper bar. The staff made us feel really welcome and the service was excellent. We look forward to our next visit.

The reason why I have said this is a nightmare restaurant and should be shut down is I suffer with gluten free and coeliac when the garlic mushrooms was brought out they was on a bed of ciabatta bread, despite having already been advised I couldn’t have bread. The plate was taken back out to the kitchen and the food put into a bowl and brought back out. When I started eating the mushrooms I found pieces of bread in with it so I had stop eating it. Please be careful if you have a food allergy at this pub. When I confronted the owner of the pub who is also the chef she was very rude and had a bad attitude as I think she knew what has been done, so again if you have a food allergy be reluctant to go to this pub.

Response from Kelly Jolliffe, Innkeeper at The Greyhound Inn & Hotel
Responded 12 Jun 2022
Thank you for your feedback. You didn’t speak to me the owner at the time about the bread and I am also not the chef. My name is Kelly and I am front of house. You didn’t like our glassware, you also didn’t like the steak and sent it back twice even though it was cooked the way you asked both times. We allowed 2 steaks off your bill. You didn’t like the service. you didn’t like the waiter and you didn’t like the pub. You also shouted at a young waiter as you left saying that you would be sending a review on the sh.. food. Steak wasn’t mentioned which I am surprised about. That is ok as every person has their preference and I hope you find a place that you do like and suits your needs. With regards to allergies. These are well catered for as long as we are advised of them we weren’t in this case, as we have gluten free bread and regularly use it. Best wishes Kelly The proud and lucky owner of The Greyhound Inn

Put simply, we were really pleased with staying here for our family gathering. The location is close to some beautiful areas to explore. The inn has been tastefully decorated and has some fun quirks. The rooms do exactly what we needed and you can see the progress the relatively new landlords are making to improve things. The food was overall very good, with a lovely breakfast, they are dog friendly and go that extra mile for dogs which makes life easier, and Kelly and her team were all really friendly and helpful which makes such a difference and is appreciated. Any issues raised were promptly dealt with so for example when we weren't pleased with one of the mains served it was handled professionally, politely and a fresh dish brought out with a goodwill gesture as well. In the busy and frantic world of hospitality you can't ask much more than that. Okay, it is located not far from a busy road so if you wanted to sit outside and relaxed you'd hear a bit of a noise but a) they've done well to screen it and distract you with their wonderful grounds and buildings and b) get out and see the beautiful countryside and sights nearby. The only tip/request to the owners I'd say, which sounds rather random is, in the rooms have a toilet seat that fits the size/shape of the toilet.
We'd definitely come back if visiting this wonderful area again and we'd definitely recommend for accommodation, drinks and food. Thanks Kelly & team for taking such great care of our crazy gang.

What a fantastic establishment.
Everything from the accommodation to the food was superb. Many hotels state “dog friendly” as a USP, however the owners and staff take this to another level. The beautiful room was so comfortable, with gorgeous views across the manicured garden, but the attention to detail for our furry four legged companion was something else. Dog bed, wrapped up dog bowls and treats awaited Murphy in the room. The superb service didn’t end there!! By way of a conversation that ensued with the owner, my wife mentioned that the intention of our travel was to view the property we will be moving to shortly in Ross-on-Wye, and the reason for the last minute stay over was because it was a birthday treat for myself. In the morning at breakfast (which we were ashamedly late for) I was then presented with my “full English “ adorned with a candle. So thoughtful.
Although we will soon be living relatively close to the Greyhound, we will definitely be returning for special treats in the near future.
Thanks guys, we had a memorable one night that won’t be forgotten.

Spent a two night stay at The Greyhound and found it to be very welcoming and extremely dog friendly. The room was good quality, as were the facilities and the treats for the dog very welcome. We dined twice in the evening and the food was good quality and reasonable value with very good service. Breakfast was exceptional.

Visited The Greyhound Inn on the 11/09/21 for an overnight stay on our way back from a week in Cornwall. What an absolute Gem of a place to find.
After a painless check in we were given the keys to our Chalet room in the detached accommodation block. A beautiful spotless room with its own terrace with tables and chairs.... The room even had Doggy Bowls and treats for our Ruby.
The Pub section was busy with a Wedding Party but that was not a problem for us as they were in the in a separate room..
The Food menu was brilliant with all the traditional pub favourites and not tarted up like many properties these days.. I had the Lambs Liver and Bacon with Fried Onions while Sandra really enjoyed the Home Cooked Ham and Eggs..
Breakfast was also well cooked and served in a lovely breakfast room.. Even Ruby had her own Special Sausage cooked by the chef.
A special mention to the brilliant Staff at The Greyhound for their professional and friendly service .. Last but certainly not least a special mention for The owner who never stopped her hands on approach.. She was serving on the bar all afternoon and evening whilst organising the wedding function.. In the morning she was there again cooking breakfast.
I managed to have a lovely chat with the owner before we left and assured her we would be returning for a longer stay as soon as we could.
All in all a wonderful place to stay.

Visiting from Australia we decided to visit one of our favourite pubs in the Usk region for dinner. Glad we did because the food was as good as always - steak and ale pie and lamb shanks faultless - but we also found out about The Uskonbury Summer Musical Festival organised by the pub to be held on the Sunday following. Held in the fields adjacent to the pub it was an excellent day of music. The event was so well organised, from the free parking and short walk to the stage areas to the exit at the end of the day. From 12 to 8pm we were entertained with bands alternating between the two stages. Family friendly, and all the people dancing in the area in front of the stages were certainly enjoying themselves. One of our bugbears when attending functions where there are large crowds (over 1000 attended) is the long queues to get food and drink. The organisers had so many friendly and efficient staff that there were never ever any long waiting times for either. As well there were activities to keep children happy and a number of cultural stores to please the adults (beware adults you could overuse your credit cards). Long may the festival continue because if we are in Wales in June over the next few years we will put it on our “Must to Do List”. A tip get there early to get one of the many benches available or bring chairs/picnic blankets to enjoy the day in comfort.

Stayed here for an overnight stay on the 29th June. What can I say, this Inn/Hotel is one of the best we have stayed in, and we have stayed in a lot. From the minute we walked into the hotel, we were welcomed by the very friendly owners, Kelly and Steve.

The grounds around the hotel are stunning, with beautiful lawns, flowers and shrubs. There is also an outside covered, heated drinking/dining area with beautiful lighting in the night. There is also a play paddock for your little (or big) doggy friends.

Our hotel room, was outstanding, absolutely spotless, with crisp white bedding and towels. The walk in shower was amazing, with complimentary toiletries, again this was spotless. The room was a lovely size, with plenty wardrobe space. There were extra touches which make their rooms extra special. Dog bowls, towel, treats, rug, poo bags. Also for us humans, there were Welsh cakes, bottled water, biscuits and a selection of teas and hot chocolate. Our rooms had French doors leading onto a patio, which we took advantage of, as weather was kind to us with sunshine.

We had our evening meal at the hotel, as the surroundings were too lovely not to. We all had a Welsh Burger which was lovely and reasonably priced, and plenty of it.

Their staff were welcoming, friendly and courtestous. They were every efficient and a credit to the owners, Kelly and Steve especially Elin who looked after us during the evening, and is a credit to them.

We had a beautiful, well cooked breakfast this morning with sauceages for the doggies as well.

Will definately be spending another visit with them soon. Thank you Kelly and Steve for making our Birthday visit such a lovely one.

P.S. Thank you for the teapot
