A family run bed and Breakfast that has been in the Noyes family since the 1930's. Lisle Combe is a large country house in a quiet location just minutes from the Isle of Wight coastal path. Over 200 years old, Lisle Combe, maintains the character and atmosphere of a lost time. A place to relax and recharge tired batteries away from the mad rush of modern life. We have three large spacious bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms and facilities. Breakfast is served in the elegant dining room with a beautiful south facing aspect. If you wish to partake in Afternoon Tea, this can be served in the Drawing room where amazing portraits look over you. A large garden surrounds the house and you can wander freely through the pathways, lawns and discover hidden tree houses, red squirrels and herons! If you want power showers and mod cons, then this is perhaps not the place for you. However if you want a warm welcome and local knowledge, to step back in time, then please come and discover us. "There's a magic in the distance where the sea-line meets the sky" a line from Alfred Noyes' poem, Forty Singing Seamen, written in 1920's and very true for what we have on offer here at Lisle Combe today!

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

One of the best b & bs we've ever stayed in, tucked away in lovely grounds about a mile and a half from Ventnor, close to the Botanic Garden. You can walk through the vast garden to the coastal path and also down to a small cove. The house is huge but has only three b & b bedrooms, all beautifully fitted out. The guests lounge and dining room are large and you felt as though you were in a stately home! Robert and Ruth were the perfect hosts, always on hand for advice about the area and help out with any problems, you almost felt like one of the family. The breakfasts were lovely and you had a wide choice to choose from, no need for much lunch! Recommend the Spyglass Inn for food at night, no bookings taken, the Bonchurch Inn for great Italian food, The Bistro and La Cantina in Ventnor, booking advisable. We were lucky with the weather and visited Mottistone Gardens, Osborne House and Carisbrooke Castle, our favourites. For a peaceful place to stay at with perfect hosts and great rooms you won't find any better on the Isle of Wight.

This was our second stay at Lisle Combe and we absolutely love it here. We had all the rooms as went as a big family. Ruth and Robert was so accommodating and friendly, best hosts you could ask for. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice and freshly cooked and nice and hot. Ruth was always making sure we had enough tea, coffee and toast. There are beautiful grounds and access to beach. Nice relaxing big communal area which we used as a family at night chatting and playing games. The whole place was lovely and clean and rooms nice and spacious with the most comfortable beds. So much history in the house and a very relaxing place. My two young girls loved being there with all the grounds and space. Will definitely return again in the future. Thank you for a great stay from The Vincent family

We have stayed at Lisle Combe probably 6 or 7 times now as a family, as a couple and with friends over the past few years and always try and make it over to the magical IOW and to this very special place at least once a year. Ruth and Robert have the warmest of welcomes and let us stay in their historical family home - nothing is too much trouble for them. I’d like to tell you about the fantastic garden, little cove beaches at the end of the grounds you can have all to yourself, amazing breakfasts etc but I can’t - because then it wouldn’t be the IOWs best kept secret and when we want to visit again it’ll all be booked up. So shush ! Keep the secret.

Atmospheric, spacious and comfortable. Very peaceful and secluded, beautiful country house. Charming hosts, incredible breakfast, pretty bedrooms and gracious guest lounge. Great views and location, joining the coastal path, short walk to beach, and lovely cafe at Steephill cove, and short walk to Ventnor... slightly hilly. Thank you for our lovely stay, Hilary & Bob

We were disappointed with our room which was dreary and dusty. Our bed sheets were damp and our bath towels stank of smoke (from fire pit or BBQ). Cups in the room were not replaced and we had to ask for Clean towels and extra loo rolls. The owners decided to have a small party during our stay which meant we couldn't use the lovely garden terrace. One of the beds wasn't even made up on arrival and hostess was out for the evening. Whilst this is undoubtedly a beautiful historic property, we very much felt we were invading the family's private home. Over-cooked rock hard poached eggs for breakfast. Nah, we won't be staying there again.

We are totally gutted that you feel this way about your stay at Lisle Combe. What a shame you didn't say anything whilst you were here. Lisle Combe is our home as well as a family run Bed and Breakfast but there is plenty of space for everyone.

Our stay at Lisle Coombe was most relaxing and peaceful. The accommodation was spacious, clean and comfortable. The house and grounds are impressive and interesting and the coastal path can be accessed via the garden. Ruth and Robert are the perfect hosts, very helpful and knowledgeable regarding the area and always willing to assist. The breakfasts were outstanding, very well cooked and using quality ingredients. If you are looking for a peaceful comfortable base for a break in the IOW we would certainly recommend Lisle Coombe

A beautiful place with lovely hosts. Breakfasts are great and the grounds are amazing. The hosts (Robert and Ruth) make you feel very welcome. There is access to a coastal walk from Lisle Combe which will take you to the Ventnor botanical gardens which is worth a visit especially as they brew their own beer there😁 A great place to spend a few days away from the ‘rat race’.

My mother and I stayed for 3 nights and were impressed by the warm welcome, peace and comfort of this beautiful old house. Ruth and Robert Noyes are charming hosts - this very much feels like a well loved family home, full of interesting books, photographs, art and furniture. The cooked breakfasts set us up for the day! Ideal for those wishing to get away from the hustle and bustle but remain within easy access of all the attractions the IoW has to offer.
