16 of us attended for a lunchtime meal and all chose from the 2 for 1 menu at £11.95. All were generous size portions and all were hot when served to us by our names S there were a lot of different choices. I had beef and ale pie, chips, broccoli, carrots and cabbage which was very nice. My husband had liver and bacon on a pile of savoury mash and peas. All the meals looked good. We were in the large downstairs restaurant and it was quite busy for a Monday lunchtime. Thank you.

Stayed for 2 nights over a weekend in June 2021. Check in is in the pub itself, although occommodation is actually in a large house across the road.

Check in was effecient and friendly, the room itself was fine, although being in a very old building ceiling height was low, particularly in the bathroom. Room facilities and decor were great, bed was particularly comfortable. We had room2 which is on the ground floor, next to the main road through the village. We did not find it noisy. Shower was lovely and powerful.

Breakfast is taken in the pub itself and was very good.

Nice place to stay

Visited in December when there had been a fall of snow. You had to be in the same league as Torvill and Dean to get to the front door! The snow had turned to ice and they hadn't cleared it, so very slippery. Things warmed up once inside. They had a roaring fire going in the main bar and it was cosy. We had booked as a group for a meal and it was served downstairs. The tables weren't set out very well as the waiters had to keep asking us to move our chairs in so that they could get past. Neither of them looked very smart, although they were pleasant.
When the food eventually arrived, it was a huge disappointment. It came in stages and I can only assume the reason mine was only vaguely tepid (when I expected it to be hot) was that it had been sat around waiting to be delivered.
Meal deals were advertised on the menu - one being 50p more if you had an alcoholic drink instead of a soft drink. When I went to pay my bill, it was way over what I expected. The reason I was told was that my soft drink wasn't included in the offer, but nobody offered an explaination when I placed my order.
Overall, I thought it was over rated, over priced and not very good quality. I won't be in a hurry to make a return visit.

Glenn your staff last night were outstanding as always, forget about bad reviews about damp walls etc, that’s not in your hands your a quality pub who invites visitors in to your home it’s a shame some people take advantage of your good nature.
PS The family who got a full refund.......
You took the remainder of your meals home, shame on you, you were very embarrassed when I pointed out there were CCTV recording you!

We booked to stay for a week as it was close to our daughters and in a beautiful area. Unfortunately our stay was a bit like Faulty Towers.
We were shown to our room and our first impression was that it was dismal and in desperate need of a makeover, we then noticed an extractor fan running noisily which would not turn off. After pointing this out we were shown to another room.
This room was a little better. As it was right on the road it was very noisy and as a car went by it rattled the old sash windows, an amount of diy and cardboard stopped the rattling. The shower was easy to operate and lovely and hot, unfortunately it leaked water over the side of the bath and onto the floor. Mound and water stains throughout. After 4 days we had to ask for clean towels and for the room to be cleaned, we got the towels.
We booked for breakfast for the stay, big mistake. Highlights- undrained poached eggs put on top of toast result very soggy toast. Worst cooked breakfast ever with very cheap ingredients, pastries which were uncooked in the middle. We could not face breakfast every day so enjoyed a beautiful meal at Wentworth Garden Centre

Popped in for anniversary drinks, Not a family friendly pub at all. Staff member extremely rude to us about our 19 month old not ‘social distancing’ even though there was plenty of space. Absolutely ridiculous considering she had been sat down for the duration of our visit and was just stretching her legs before going back into her pram. No hand sanitiser left in the dispense on entry. This pub needs to practice what it preaches. We often eat out with our daughter and never been made to feel so awkward. Will be sending a email to Greene King about this, would hate for another family to be made as uncomfortable as we was.

My wife and i live in London but love to visit Yorkshire and the Rockingham Arms is one of the reasons why. We stayed there twice last year, once in the height of a beautiful summer and again in December. The welcome we received both times was typical Yorkshire. So friendly and attentive. We stayed Bed and Breakfast and i have to say the breakfast was exceptional. The rooms we had were very comfortable and offered us everything we needed. We ate in the bar a couple of evenings and the evening food matched the breakfasts. The first time we visited we extended our stay by a day and the second time we had to cut it short by a day but they accommodated us both times with no fuss whatsoever and we found it excellent value for money. We can't wait to come again. Thank you

We visited the Rockingham Arms on Christmas day with family for Christmas Dinner. We were on the second sitting in the barn and this was run by Glen and his team like a finely oiled machine. Our food was hot and tasty and the courses were timed perfectly so that we didn't feel rushed with our meal.

The staff were efficient, polite and friendly despite having to work on Christmas day and checked back with us periodically throughout our meal.

The barn looked lovely and festive and there was Christmas music in the background.

Thanks for a lovely day. We will certainly recommend to others for next year!

Greene King need to up their game - dinner poor with breakfast bordering inedible due to horribly cheap ingredients.
Rooms nothing to write home about; in dire need of modernising and refurbishment but at £40 a night can’t complain. However, right on the road, so plenty of cars passing to keep you awake and plumbing that ensured when other guests flushed, it sounded like the sluices had been opened in our bathroom.

I visited the rockingham arms last Tuesday for the first time. I was impressed with the service I received. The waitresses knew the menu like the back of their hands and were polite and friendly when taking our order. The food came out within 15 minutes and was piping hot and tasty delicious too. I also had my dogs with me and the pub is dog friendly which is a bonus and the waitress made sure there was fresh water for them. I will deffo come back and highly recommend.
