Owner absolutely lovely, food fantastic with proper cooked chips!! What a little gem we have found. Fresh food cooked to order not your average pub grub 😁 absolutely delicious! Thank you kind sir, we shall visit again when we are in the area!!
Absolutely beautiful meal at Boat and Anchor today I had the Mushroom and Brie Wellington whilst my 5 year old had the Chicken Nuggets and Chips First time visiting the pub and certainly wont be the last!
Food was good and service was great from Jess. We popped in the night before just for a drink and the next night when we arrived for our dinner reservation Jess had found us Prosecco glasses and was also very intuitive to when we needed another drink. Steak was good and we all had a decent amount of food Thank you Jess
We needed a place to stay in Bridgewater for 1 night that was dog friendly so checked the internet and The Boat and Anchor came up. Easy to find and in a lovely position right on the canal with plenty of parking. Check in was straightforward and we were quickly shown to our room. We were given a ground floor accessible room which was convenient with the dog as I could quickly take her outside when necessary. The standard tea making facilities were in the room minus milk. My brother went to the bar to ask for milk and a bowl to use for water for my dog. These were brought very quickly to the room. We didnt have an evening meal in the bar as we had a previous engagement. The night was very comfortable, we both slept very well as did the dog, the wet room was superb. We are early risers so were up at 6.30. The in room information stated breakfast was from 7am to 9am so the idea was that we would have breakfast about 7.30 and be on the road for home about 8. However we were informed that breakfast didnt commence until 9. This initially was a disappointment to the point that we were going to cut our losses (we had paid an additional charge for breakfast) and leave without breakfast and get something on the road. While walking the dog before leaving we bumped into Richy who turned out to be the chef who explained that he was unable to open until 9 so unfortunately could not supply breakfast and earlier. He was so friendly and helpful we decided to wait and have breakfast which was a brilliant decision. He opened as soon as possible and quickly supplied a beautifully prepared and presented meal with quality ingredients. Nothing was too much trouble. Richy is an asset to the Boat and Anchor. He turned was could have been a not so happy review into a review I am delighted to write. We will certainly be returning, in the not too distant future, with the rest of the family for a lunch in the lovely canal side setting or and evening meal and would definitely stay in one of their comfortable rooms. The only tiny down point is the incorrect room information about the breakfast time, maybe this is just an altered time owing to the present circumstances but should be pointed out at the point of booking or check in. In the end it didn't matter but it could so easily have changed the situation. Basically the change of mind was down to Richy, Thank you…
Location by the canal was interesting and had we stayed longer i would have investigated the towpath. Check in was super quick. Room was cozy and bed was very comfortable. Room cost was very good value. Food choice was limited due to Covid but there was still enough choice. Breakfast was also very good. Staff were very friendly and helpful and we will definitely stay again.
