Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited Aikenshill House as a day visit as our nice was visiting from South America. She was very excited to be able to see up close the beautiful and family loved highland coos. James was so kind and generous to offer her a full experience where she feed them and hugged her now best friend in Scotland. James is really a treasure and as he said it “on the business of making dreams true with his beloved coos”.

Love cows and 5 star service? Then this is your place. It was wonderful! We made a last minute reservation and couldn't have been more blown away. James is a fantastic host. So attentive, so passionate about his Highlands, so knowledgeable and just a great storyteller. We were given an amazing, hands-on tour with all of his 50+ herd of cows. We were able to interact with them closely but James was careful to make sure we were safe the whole time. The accommodation is SPOTLESS. The room was large and very comfortable. The lounge is perfectly situated with a crackling fire and a view of the North Sea. And the food is delicious and abundant. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about Aikenshill. Do yourself a favor, and get over there.

We chose this B&B for its close proximity to Trump International golf course. This place makes you feel like you are completely at home. We had a very warm welcome from James, the owner and his family and we were welcomed into their truly beautiful home. Our bedroom was lovely and comfortable with a fabulous view of the Highland cows and the sea beyond. This is a truly relaxing place to stay and finished off our trip north perfectly. We will be back! Thank you for the great breakfasts too!

Excellent hosts. Beautifully cooked breakfast. Nothing was too much work for them. Loved the Highland Cows. We will definitely come back! First time in Aberdeen definitely not the last and wouldn’t consider staying elsewhere. Such a nice location in rural Aberdeen.

Excellent place in every aspect. James and Shona are great and extremely friendly hosts who made our stay an amazing experience. And not to forget they are fabulous cooks - enjoying dinner was the perfect finish of a busy day at the golf courses and after visiting near by castles

What a fabulous B&B. James and family were great host. We loved our stay at Aikenshill house. It was awesome, from the room, the hosts, the highland coos, the food and the views. It is definitely on my list to go back. Wish I could have brought Sky, the Highland Coo home with us. Thank you James

We stayed as a family at Aikenshill House for three nights, and absolutely loved the experience. The rooms are simply, but beautifully, furnished and the whole house is warm and welcoming. We had stunning views from our windows, looking out to the North Sea over fields containing Highland cattle and their calves. James was the consummate host and provided us with excellent breakfasts and fantastic evening meals. We will hope to stay at Aikenshill again soon, possibly to take advantage of the top class golf available nearby.

Stayed overnight whilst in the area on business, excellent choice, quiet location, modern property with comfortable facilities. Hospitality was exceptional as was the food, booked an evening meal and wasn’t disappointed, if you enjoy fine dining this is the place to stay. Overall highly commendable and will certainly stay again.
