Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Nowhere offers a better view of the sunset than the Bella vIsta. Fairly priced drinks, nice friendly staff and atmosphere. I come here often for drinks, and food, never had a bad experience. Favourite place in Sissi

Just came home from a ten night stay at Bella vista and loved it. Spotlessly clean rooms and a lovely pool area. Irene is the perfect host with the biggest smile and couldn't do enough for us. Vangelis behind the bar is so friendly and helpful. We'll be going back. Thank you Bella Vista.

Just returned from a lovely stay at Bella Vista. Hosts: Irene and Van the man were amazing hosts and go out of their way to make your stay as memorable as possible. Apartment: We stayed in apt 17 - apartment was authentically Greek, no frills but met our needs and provided the essentials we needed on a self catering basis. Don’t expect matching cutlery, plates etc, but hey who needs matching. Bed linen and bath towels were changed frequently. You need to bring your own beach/pool towels. Sunset from our balcony was amazing. Pool: is very deep and only a small part is shallow, however, purchases a noodle and it’s not a problem. If travelling with kids, there is a kids pool but this was not in use and not a requirement for us during our stay. Food: we ate mainly lunchtime at Bella Vista and enjoyed every meal we had. Thanks Mike. Drinks: yiamas a plenty and standard cost for Crete. Chargeable extras available: aircon /safe. Sisi town: is a 20min stroll on foot for those with no physical health difficulties from Bella Vista. We tended to walk into Sisi and get a taxi back for 7€ (just being lazy tbh). We ate in a variety of restaurants and never had a bad meal once. Give Mama Nikki at Neromilos a visit. Overall we enjoyed our stay 100%. Of course you can chose to pull out all the negatives if you wish but I don’t see any value in doing so, as there are far more positives staying at Bella Vista. If your thinking of booking a stay at Bella Vista expect no frills in your apartment, remember it is a 3* and self catering, so no different to what you’d need to supply yourself if holidaying in the UK. Open your heart to the beauty of your surroundings and engage with your fantastic hosts and you won’t go wrong. Thank you BV. Paula, Paul & Maisie xxx

We have recently returned from 2 weeks at Bella Vista....What a beautiful spot ....so pretty with the flowers and the fabulous views . Irene is a star...she was so welcoming and helpful... The food on site is good...the rooms are looked after well... We had no complaints....many steps to the top floor but so worth it for the mountain and sea views over the bay of Malia from our balcony... For those who enjoy walking you can walk on the coast path to the Malia Archaeological site and past it to Potamos beach. .a lovely walk..both places recommended... The other direction to Sissi along a straight road takes about 20 mins but if it is very hot transport may be easier as it is very exposed.... We hired a jeep for 5 days which was wonderful..we saw so many sights...Phaistos ruins....Myrtos and Ierapetra to the south...Milatos cave with it's dark history...plus day trips which can be booked from the Bella Vista... We loved our stay...made complete by Irene and the lovely staff...definitely recommended ....

Perfect location, perfect views. My studio apartment was right at the top, lots of steps but very worth it. Apartment was more than enough for my needs, plenty of wardrobe space, ample sockets, kettle and fridge, hairdryer, bathroom with shower over bath. Paid extra for air conditioning and in room safe. Decent balcony with clothes airer, table and chairs and, of course, a sea view. All very clean. I had breakfast included, 4 choices on offer - Greek breakfast, continental, full English, plain. I tried them all, no complaints at all, lovely. Irene is such a lovely host, providing information about the area and also kindly organising taxis for me. The location is about a 20 minute leisurely walk from the harbour, must admit though I only walked it once preferring to get a taxi due to the heat and also because I was on my own. However I did feel very safe. Nice pool, nice bar with lots of cocktails on offer, small selection of snacks and meals available too. Lots of returning customers and I can see why - somewhere I definitely hope to return to.

A wonderful two week holiday. The views from the Bella vista are wonderful, mountains and sea. The rooms were kept clean bedding and towels changed regularly. The pool area was brilliant a VERY deep pool which we all enjoyed and not once, were we unable to find sun beds at anytime of the day!! This family run business was a real little gem of a place Irene and Mike enduring that the services they supplied were spot on. Food, snacks information on the area and things to do. They really could not do enough. We cannot wait to go back!!

Will return. 5 star but breakfast was not a good buy. Paid but ate out as not my cup of tea. Lots of stairs but love the exercise Stalis is lovely. Nice walk. Took about 15 minutes but worth it. The views from the room over looking the mountains was stunning. Local entertainment was fabulous and beach lovely.

We travelled for ten days at the Bella Vista Apartments, and we also paid extra for a sea view apartment. These apartments are kept clean with change of bedding once a week, and a change of towels every few days. Irene is a top lady who works at the bar/kitchen area from 9am-4pm seven days a week, she'll go to the moon and back to make sure you have everything you need in making sure your holiday is a great experience. The complex has a huge pool and plenty of sun-beds for everyone. We were aware that this place was off the beaten track, but it was a quiet and peaceful holiday that we were craving. You can walk 0.5 miles into Sisu which has a small beach (Including free beds/umbrellas), and a number of restaurants/taverns and supermarkets, you can also hire bicycles/mopeds/quads for those that are not keen on walking. I read on previous reviews that there is a beach that is 400m away which I found to be untrue. There is a beach about 1200m away down the hill, but that beach is a private beach attached to an hotel, so after further investigating I found one of the best beaches on the island in Potamos Beach, so we headed there most days which was about 1.5 miles, but did come at a price as we had to pay 15 euros each/way in a taxi, and the sun beds/umbrellas were 10 euro a day, but it was money well spent with a huge sandy beach and turquoise waters. That beach also had a snack van there that done tasty Gyros for around 4 euros. There is also a tavern further up the road.
