We spent 8 nights at this magical place. We can only HIGHLY recommend Sentidos - awesome location , brilliant staff and the ocean has soooo much megafauna it is ridiculous :-) Staff on site is just amazing - super-friendly and brilliant service from a team that takes pride in their work and location - going the extra mile. So a sincere thx to Lwana and entire team! Villas are great and located basically on the beach - lovely to be able to trot down to the beach and take a ocean dip in the morning before breakfast. The only smidgeon of complaint we may have is that the beds are sort of rock-solid planks, and could do with a softer approach. But what makes this place the bestest is the ocean and its inhabitants - there are humpbacks whales everywhere you look (in season)!!! And resident whalesharks and manta rays! Ocean safari's with the wonderful Sentidos activity crew was amazing! And there's some couple of nice beach hang-outs within walking distance (along a pristine beach) - Chill Faro as well as Green Turtle are recommended. We will be back!

Finding nice places in Tofo and Barra around Christmas and NYE is not easy. We decided to book Sentidos for 2 days over new years and to celebrate my wifes birthday. We've been coming to Tofo for over 10 years and were excited to be spoiled a bit at this new fancy resort. We went to check in and the front desk said they couldn't find our booking. I showed them my booking on Agoda.com and they looked perplexed by it. They then asked for proof of payment and so I opened up my chase.com account and showed them the charge. Not only did they not have our booking but they only had a room available for 1 night. One of the front office guys went to the back office and then came back to say they haven't received our booking or the money and there was nothing they could do. It was then I pinged Joanne who I believe heads up activities to get involved. She came over and said she'd try to get to the bottom of it and that hey hadn't had issues with Agoda before. She went to the back office to presumably make some calls. She came back and said sorry they don't know what Agoda is and don't have the booking and there's nothing we could do. I then proceeded to call Agoda (international call $) and confirmed that Sentidos Agoda account had the wrong email and phone number on it and that they'd email Sentidos with my booking confirmation. Agoda emailed it to them but Sentidos still was unwilling to help us. They made no offer to put us up for 1 night, in fact they told us we'd have to pay an extra $400 for the one night ($800 a night). Sentidos never tried to call Agoda, never offerred to do anything helpful. It was all awkward, unprofessional denial. They then went on to suggest that it was perhaps a fake listing and that I should look into that. So we left. I had to make 2 additional calls to Agoda where they then put a refund request through and guess what?! Sentidos received that refund offer and approved it. So apparently Sentidos does know what Agoda is. I emailed Sentidos demanding answers and to make the situation right on Jan 1 and only on Jan 4 did they respond saying that they approved the refund. They attached a PDF from Jan 1 with this info. So it seems even after 3 days of receiving my email and info about the refund that they chose not to communicate it. I've followed up with them three times since they sent that email asking for an explanation but have received no reply. I've reached out to the Assistant GM without reply. I've reached out to the Design Hotels Group which they are a part of without reply. If you're expecting a professional treatment (especially when things go wrong) you will not get it from this place. It's clearly a stunning facility but their approach to customer service has been appalling at every turn. I've given them a bunch of opportunities to make the situation right or explain why our holiday had to be so negatively impacted only to hear crickets.

What can I say.... returned again after first visit in 2018 august. Firstly it is really beautiful. The resort has had immense amount of money thrown in to build a fantastic place. Villas are luxurious, restaurant location is dramatic and views are stunning. Menu is very ambitious and has a wonderful variety, if only they were available. Here lies the problem with Sentidos, and was exactly the same the last time we were there.... half of the items on the menu are not available!!! What there is, is delicious, but unfortunately just too many things not available for a five star resort such as this, and for what you are paying. Sooo frustrating. We even asked them in advance to ensure they stocked up (because of previous experience), however despite the reassurances, too many things were simply not available. They didn’t even have cachaca for the caipirinha!! I mean, you’re sitting on the beach in Barra, yet you can’t even get a caipirinha. Even the cheap beach bar next door has it. It’s also quite remote, and we wanted to just stay at the resort and enjoy a few days after having rented a house on the beach the week before. Just frustrating. Bad enough to not want to go again. Other small issue is the staff are not taught to speak English. Sorry, but for an international quality (and priced) resort, you gotta have English speaking staff. They did try their best, and Paipe our waiter for the duration of our stay was fantastic, helpful and did his best to communicate with us. Most of the rest of the staff didn’t really understand what we were trying to order so that fell short. Finally, and another typical example of where Sentidos doesn’t have issues spending money on infrastructure, however just don’t get it when it comes to creating ambiance and a truly special place that it is. They recently built a concrete wall protecting the resort from the sea tides etc, and put a beautiful hardwood balustrade all along the top of the wall (for protection etc), but then proceeded to lay a LED strip light along the entire length of the balustrade (in cool white) such that as soon as it got dark, there was this awful intrusive bright light that ran the entire length of the resort between the villas (and the beautiful softly lit - warm yellow lamps garden with cosy seating areas, etc) and the beach / ocean. So now, when you want to sit on your villa deck and look out to the ocean or up at the stars, you have this revolting bright striplight ruining your view. Suggestion: rip off the striplight from the balustrade, you have ruined an otherwise beautiful place. Then all the terraces (villas and restaurant) also have shade netting instead of canvas, so every time it rains, you have to go inside and all the sofas, cushions etc get soaking wet, so can’t go back outside until the next day when they have to dry out everything.... 🤦🏻‍♂️ That really sums it up.

We stayed for a week and had a wonderful time. The staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and clean designed with Asian architecture and nice touches. The location is perfect on a quite end of the beach. The SEE activity center offers many activities. The only down side is there is a barrier wall between the villas and the beach so while the beach is a few meters away from the villa, access requires walking to the end of the property which isn’t far but slightly awkward, instead of walking straight to the beach from the deck of the villa. The beach is calmer than Tofo, this isn’t a beach for surfing but great for kayaking and snorkeling to the reef that is close. The restaurant is good and the staff are happy to accommodate but the options for dinner were limited (mostly Portuguese inspired) and there was no menu for breakfast or lunch but they try to accommodate which becomes an interesting conversation especially if Portuguese isn’t your first or second language. There are other dining options in Tofo (15 minutes away). Due to COVID the spa was closed.

We had the pleasure of travelling to Sentidos in December. The rooms are modern and spacious and not far from the beautiful beach. Sadly there has been a bit of tidal damage so they were busy working on getting this fixed when we were there. The food was incredible and the service very impressive. Will definitely be back soon....

This was one of the nicest holidays we ever had. We have never been to a place before where we had experienced such wonderful and exceptional customer service! All the staff are extremely friendly and will go an extra mile with a smile on their faces to ensure that you are happy and enjoying your time. We have opted for a full board option which I will recommend and received gourmet plated three course meals at lunch and dinner. You can also book activities at the SEE activities centre with Joanne and her team. The villas are five star quality and in close proximity to the sea. We will recommend Sentidos to anyone who is looking for a place where you can relax and if you are looking for exceptional friendly staff. Thank you for our amazing holiday!

Great experience in a wood complex of 12 villas either with twin or kind sized beds. Villas 11 and 12 are more precisely dedicated to honeymooners. Each villa is decorated with taste with a bath tube and all commodities you may require. Direct access to the beach with a sand strip in a walking distance. A wooden elevated bridge will lead you to a restaurant where a Portuguese Chef will propose you the best seafood with a choice of Portuguese and South African wines. You can enjoy a space with two floors directly facing the Indian Ocean with the possibility to enjoy cocktails when watching the sunset. A spa will offer you quality treatment by a qualified therapist. You will have the choice of numerous activities like exploring the provincial city of Imhambane, going on a squad to explore nearby villages and testing local cuisine or going at sea paddling, snorkeling or sailing. A piece of heaven.

My husband and I recently visited Inhambane in Mozambique and stayed at Sentidos Beach Retreat for 4 nights. We stayed in a standard villa and were generally extremely impressed by the high hospitality standards maintained at this resort property. The villa itself is very spacious and beautifully decorated in light seaside tones set against beautiful rich, dark wood; all the essential amenities and more are provided. The villas are all located literally on the beach and views from the expansive windows are breathtaking. Our room rate included breakfast which was an absolutely sumptuous affair each morning. They offer a buffet style breakfast including a vast selection of expertly prepared pastries, cereals, fruit and cold meats and cheeses, plus eggs and other cooked options ordered directly from the kitchen. They are not at all "mean" with servings and you are left feeling deliciously sluggish, just in time for a dip in the sea! Dinner is a similarly delicious affair - we again opted for the buffet option, which included an excellent and very generous selection of seafood, chicken and other meats. We indulged in the "Seafood Platter for Two" on our last night and I can honestly say, I have never had a better seafood meal in all my travels! Compliments to the chef. I must also make mention of the fact that all the staff at Sentidos have obviously received a very high level of training - they are pleasant, affable and very quick to please guests. I make special mention of Gertrude at Breakfast and Jaime at Dinner, who were both always outstanding! Well done to the entire management and staff and thank you all for a very memorable holiday at Sentidos! We will see you again sometime! Best wishes, Gerry and Fotini Tselentis/Zimbabwe.

Beautiful resort and really lovely staff. Sadly the food was the worse we had all trip. Everything was lackluster. Mine was barely cooked but when they asked my thoughts about it and I was honest (I couldn’t eat it!) it was laughed off. Such a shame as a really beautiful setting and restaurant
