This place is a little gem nestled conveniently at the end of a beautiful old bridge with the town a two minute walk away. We had an upstairs room with side view of the gorgeous river. There was a large kitchen for us to use with private terrace on the first floor if we fancied doing our own thing. We had a double room with separate shower room and toilet. The guest house was very ‘French’ in keeping with a medieval town. The restaurant ‘ARThe’ was where breakfast was served. A very trendy place with a photo gallery of portraits and landscapes from Nick’s [co owner] travels. Breakfast was fresh fruit salad, croissants and preserves and fresh coffee. The restaurant was very popular at lunch times and evenings with themed curry night whilst we were there. Nick & Mary have worked tirelessly to create a an eatery which is extremely popular with the towns folk and holiday makers alike. We loved our week there! 20-27th July 2022

I thought I had posted a review but cannot find it. We were actually there in May 2017 but that wasn’t an option to check. We arrived after 10:00 pm after traveling from the USA to Paris and then driving to Confolens. We hadn’t eaten and Nick was so kind to bring us bread, cheese, wine, and fruit. It was perfect! The breakfast each morning was a different and special treat. We were gone each day at lunch but the menu looked great at their restaurant Arthé. We loved our balcony room. Nick, we still haven’t sold our house in Florida. But when we do, we will be back!

It's probably been said already by many people who have visited this small hotel/restaurant and gallery, but it seems to us that Nick and Mary have created a little bit of perfection in an area whose natural beauty only serves to enhance their business. Their relaxed style with guests manages to create a wonderful atmosphere in all areas that the guest comes into contact with, making you feel that you've found a little gem here, and will most definitely want to revisit - as long as all these good reviews don't mean they'll be booked solid for ages to come! We managed to get the balcony room and it is so chic and roomy but, add to this the use of a kitchen they provide for guests who want to bring in food to heat/cook it gives you the opportunity to self-cater if you want ... or if you manage to resist the aromas of the variety of lovely food they provide at lunch-time. A word of caution though - if you decide to eat in in the restaurant, you might want to book ahead as they are often full. I really hope I haven't reviewed myself out of going back there, as this would be our first stop for any future trips in the area!

A wonderful surprise to find this B/B in Confolens. Cannot praise it highly enough. Mary and Nick are perfect hosts who also run their charming tea room filled with interesting art. (Not to mention the delicious aroma of lunches and cakes). Their terrace overlooking the river and the ancient bridge is perfectly located. We were warmly greeted with tea and cake and our accommodation was comfortable. We had the use of a kitchen/dining room so enjoyed our evening meal watching the sun go down over the town of Confolens. Highly recommended by a couple of frequent travellers to France.

My friend and I have just returned from a 5 night stay at Pont Vieux Chambres and had the most fantastic time. Despite going to Confolens especially for the music festival, we basically did nothing for 5 days but to enjoy the weather from the lovely river view gardens attached to the accommodation. The garden is spacious and very private. We took full advantage of the fact that the accommodation is also joined with the Arthe Galerie (same owners) which offers the most amazing food so between the great weather, garden, food, wine and lovely people - we had the most relaxing few days ever! My friend and I occupied 2 spacious rooms - spotlessly clean and boasted 'the' most comfortable beds. There was the added bonus of having use of the kitchenette and large fridge. We loved the fact that breakfast was served on a long table with the other guests as it was great to be able to share our stories. The review would not be complete without making special mention of the owners - Nick and Mary - they are genuinely lovely people who made us so welcome - they run an excellent B&B and Galerie - can't recommend it highly enough. We learned a lot from both Nick and Mary about the area, the community, the renovation work and how to make brilliant cheesecakes. Thanks to them, we had a ball and put simply, we'll definitely be back! Thank you.

Beautiful room, balcony with an amazing view, breakfast along the river in the garder... owners are very welcoming. They own a tea salon on ground floor, and the tea is exquisite. If I come back to Confolens I'll definitely stay there again

Nick & Mary helped to make the surprise visit just perfect! Lots of behind the scenes arrangements helped to make the trip a huge success. The welcome is warm, the rooms are spacious, the breakfasts excellent and Confolens is a delightful place to stay. A fully equipped kitchen makes it an ideal venue for families with children. The history of the building, the varied artisan crafts and gallery make the salon de the an interesting place to browse and we'd love to be there on one of the music evenings. Highly recommended

Yes, you can see the river and very picturesque it is too, and you are conveniently positioned for the town centre, but these are incidental. More important is the great welcome and hospitality provided by Nick and Mary. The rooms are clean and spacious with excellent ensuite facilities, the wifi is fast and the breakfasts are good. It doesn't get much better!

Pont Vieux is a typical French Chambre d'ote, offering the most comfortable and convivial accommodation, Nick and Mary are wonderful hosts and really make you feel welcome. A delicious breakfast is served in their Salon de The', giving you the opportunity to meet fellow travellers. Our room had a private balcony and wonderful view over the river. The bed was most comfortable. Chez Eric which is opposite is close enough for you to be involved in the party evening and stagger home!! If Mary has her chilli on the lunch menu, then you are in for a treat. An excellent stay in spite of the pouring rain. We would return!

We were here for three nights for a family wedding. Our daughter and my husband's sister were also here so we can vouch for three lovely rooms. There were others in accommodation elsewhere in the town and area but all agreed we had by far the nicest and it will be Pont Vieux which will be first choice for returnees. Nick and Mary are delightful and so welcoming. The breakfasts were delightful and, as the photos show, the setting is lovely.
