The location is amazing, room comfortable, view amazing

would probably only stop for lunch passing through the area next time...

What a place ! Waow ! I don’t want to describe too much: surprise must be a part of the trip. It is really a place not to be missed. You feel that it is managed by local people: you are really in something different,...More
The accommodation is located in a beautiful remote area, with campsites between the rocks. Each campsite has its own toilet, kitchen and shower, all outside. The staff is very friendly! We would definitely recommend it!!

This place is excellent. The first view of the basin is phenomenal. Sundowners on the decking are lovely too. Rooms are basic, so don't stay too long, 2 nights is enough. The elephant tracking was awesome, we saw 28, the guides are great too.
This community owned lodge sits higher than the high point of the Grootberg Pass. The road up to the lodge from the road is an adventure in and of itself. The views from the lodge are spectacular, just spectacular. We were part of a group...More

you are discouraged from wandering away from the lodge because of potential danger but there is nothing to stop you. You will be told that lions have been seen very close by. The lodge prefer you to take one of their trips. We opted for the Rhino walk which to be honest was a bit disappointing. When we visited in January there had been a drought lasting several years and most of the wildlife has moved or died. There are Rhino there and indeed we found one but the extent of the walk was no more than 30 metres from the truck to the viewing point where a Rhino was stood down below. My first ever Rhino and a wonderful sight but I went on to see more in Etosha and it didn't cost me £250 for two of us to see one either. If the money goes to conservation fair enough but I have my doubts. Grootberg was to me worth a visit but I wouldn't go back for a second one.
