Travellers' Choice
Situated in a stunning and picturesque setting on the banks of the Union Canal, the Bridge Inn is a unique pub and restaurant. The Bridge Inn is a wonderful place to visit, to taste some of our freshly cooked food, try some cask ales or sample from our expanding wine list, and enjoy a warm and friendly atmosphere and welcome. Wherever possible we use seasonal, Scottish, fresh, local produce, and everything is freshly prepared. We grow our own herbs and vegetables in a walled garden slightly along the canal from the pub. We have a small herd of saddleback pigs, and our menus often feature delicious home-produced pork on the menu. We use locally-shot game when it is in season. We always have a range of cask ales from breweries which we know throughout Scotland. We have had lots of fun selecting our wine list, which we have tried to make one of the best value wine lists in Scotland. And we currently have on a selection of over 20 single malts from around this beautiful country. We have now finished an ambitious renovation project that has transformed the Bridge Inn. We have created an atmospheric country pub in the 18th century part of the building with open fires and comfortable seating. We have altered the upstairs to create 4 beautiful and unique en-suite bedrooms. They each have a different feel, but each has its own view of the canal and surrounding countryside. The Bridge Inn won Best B & B by Visit Scotland's Thistle Awards for the East of Scotland. Finally our bistro alongside the canal has been upgraded and we have added a terrace alongside the building to make the most of our unique setting.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a lovely time here over New Year. Staff were all excellent, so friendly and helpful. Great food and well priced dinner too. Good knowledge and availability of gluten free food for both dinner and breakfast. Room was nice- excellent views. We got public transport one day which was fine but Uber was the best option: around £20-30 each way.

Room Tip: You can take public transport (bus then tram) just outside but Uber is easier.

Comfortable room with nice details, coffee machine and toiletries. Comfy bed and wonderful breakfast. Will return and enjoy dinner next time : ) Great atmosphere in the bar if a little pricey for the wine and cocktails.

We had a lovely two night stay here. We were only planning on one night, but had to add a night due to the rail strike. So glad we had a full day in this beautiful area. We were advised on where to walk to see a magnificent view of Edinburgh and took a walk on the tow path along the canal. The room was warm and comfortable with nice decor and amenities. The food was very good and the staff were friendly and helpful. All in all, it was a very enjoyable stay only a few minutes from the airport. Would definitely recommend

We've come back here over several years to celebrate our anniversary, and always try to book the dramatic four-poster room (Bonnington). We did book that this time, via the website booking system - at least, it looked that way - but for some reason we weren't given it, which was a big disappointment. Our room was comfortable enough but a bit unexciting in comparison! Fabulous bathtub though, and good toiletries. Watch out for scorching hot water, and the taps at our bath/shower were mislabelled - so extra watch out for that! The food - the main reason we come, and stay over - was fine, though didn't seem to be as excellent as it has been in the past. Breakfast was amazing though - excellent ingredients, nicely done.

A first class lunch here at the Bridge Inn. The menu was varied and clearly focused towards local and seasonal foods which was nice. I opted for St Monans haddock and chunky chips which was excellent. The batter was so light and the chips outstanding. My friend had the chicken and haggis pie with mash - looked absolutely amazing. We chose chocolate sponge with orange crème anglais and pumpkin spice panaccota. Utterly delicious. Lovely surrounding and unobtrusive service. Another place to add to the list of “must return soon”.

I always try to stay here when in the Edinburgh area. Well located, always very good food and friendly staff. And on this occasion, excellent value for the DB&B package. Rooms are small and there are only 4 of them, but comfortable with an excellent shower. And I really appreciated the coffee maker in the room - something many more expensive hotels don't have.

One glaring thing really annoyed me… I don’t know what I expected from Scottish musicians but certainly not a complete insult to my hometown! Here’s the situation - they advertised a JAZZ BRUNCH that promised to have a NEW ORLEANS sounding band INSTEAD They had a very modern jazz band performing when I went for the brunch . It was embarrassing and such a misrepresentation to my city of New Orleans. I’m Pretty angry in honesty - why on earth advertise New Orleans and state music by jellyroll Moron and Louis Armstrong when you neither have a pianist or trumpet player! lol what a joke! And these guys ( other than the sax player) were pretty amateur and were playing in a very modern style . Insane - please book folk who actually play the style and who aren’t cashing in on a fad to make a buck You’re 100 percent misrepresenting New Orleans and old trad/ classic jazz and that’s not cool The food was decent enough - just fix this travesty of a band please
