It's a walk uphill from the beach, but we knew that. Good value for money. Only complaint was that you could hear everything from next door rooms in upper storeys of block 6. However our friends lower down didn't have this problem.

Many negative reviews contain much of what we did experience ourselves whilst it’s hard to believe that there are some positive reviews that say different but it is up to each individual to make their own judgements. Our experience at this hotel is well known to the staff of the hotel and also to the Jet2 reps who don’t really care about your holiday experience and I have many photos to back up what is being written here and some of these have been given to Jet2 reps as evidence. My main gripes with the hotel and Jet 2 are about 2 thing’s. Firstly we paid for a seaview room which we kind of got but only if you were prepared to stand up all day on your terrace and could see beyond the 20 plus metres of patio terrace full of sun-beds & then through the gaps of the railings and have amazing 20/20 vision, anyway enough said on this but my advice is simply don’t waste your money it’s really not worth taking the risk if you truly want a good sea view choose a different hotel. The second is the lack of friendliness and genuine willingness to resolve issues around the food and dietary requirements. Very early into the holiday we realised that things weren’t good and requested that we could move hotel. We contacted both the hotel and Jet2 but basically nothing much changed. The Jet2 rep did lead us to believe that we could move to a different hotel so for this reason we didn’t unpack for 3 days but he simply made fools out of us by claiming we could go to another hotel and ask to speak to a lady called Marina and this was just down the road so we did this only to be told on arrival that she was in a meeting for 3 hours and all this after an hours walk to get there and whilst out the Jet2 rep then called us to say there was no availability at the hotel which he surely must have already known. Anyway occidental asked me to fill out a very basic form and things would be taken care of and I agreed to do this. So it was time to try out lunch, all appeared to work well until the food arrived. It was simply ordered as gluten free, fish and a pizza but I got undercooked cold fish which looked really nice but was actually raw and the pizza was warm and hard. The cold food didn’t surprise me because everything was always cold except the ice creams they were constantly melting everywhere. I gave the hotel the chance to rectify this and asked for breakfast, I requested toast, fruit, crepes/pancakes and cup cake buns. I received a brown cob, fridge cold pancakes that couldn’t possibly have just been cooked no cup cakes and fruit. After this I simply lost faith with the hotel and ended up just taking my chances with trying to get uncontaminated food from the restaurant which isn’t easy to do. So I used to get my own tablespoons and seek out untouched areas of food for myself to eat. Whilst doing this one evening I was astonished what I witnessed happening from the staff behind the fish counter. A lady in front of me asked for a fish off the grill and the lady presented her with a piece, but as she put it on her plate she contaminated the spatulas and went straight back cooking with them but then the lady said she only wanted half of the fish so the chef took it back off her plate put it back on to the grill and then tried to give me the gluten contaminated fish to which I obviously declined and now the griddle was contaminated with the possibility of fat spitting everywhere. The list just goes on but my advice choose somewhere else if you are serious about looking after your wellbeing and on the last day my partner took ill and is still ill from the holiday and is now on medication prescribed from the uk hospital. Finally I would like to add that we did get one complimentary meal in the A La Cart restaurant and this was excellent and exceeded our expectations but sadly the hotel let themselves down again by offering us another one free of charge but only if we signed a none disclosure agreement to which we declined and we have a photograph of this document.

Lots of positives! -The whole atmosphere of the hotel was lovely. -Everywhere was always clean. The bedrooms were serviced every day. -The adjoining rooms for a family were a sanity saver! We will most definitely be doing that again. -The food choice for adults was good and the snack bar (pool area) was always topped up. The freshly made omelettes for breakfast were delicious and the kids enjoyed the churros/pancakes. Breakfast was the best meal of the day! -The activities going on daily were outstanding - we were surprised as usually when we have travelled out of season, the pool activities/group activities/kids club were always closed or not running. So to have all the poolside/group activities, a kids club twice a day, as well as mini disco and a new show every night, was a massive bonus! -The pool areas were large and ample seating/loungers, however I can imagine in the summer it gets pretty crowded and there's times when people could be left with nowhere to sit. -The upper pool is heated which was a lovely surprise! So many holidays we have been on and the pools are so cold you can barely go in them. We were hardly ever out of the pool this time, which was lovely. -The area surrounding the hotel was beautiful and we explored all the way along to the peninsula. The beach at the end of the main walkway was gorgeous and the kids snorkelled in the shallows and saw lots of marine life. -We took a private boat trip out to see dolphins and also to jump off the boat into the crystal clear blue waters to snorkel. We would recommend doing this if your budget allows. -All of the shops and bars/restaurants/cafes were open all the way along the sea front - you would have thought it was summer, but without the crowds! A few issues during our holiday that I feel important to mention: -For being marketed as a family hotel, the daily music choice for around the pool was 95% extremely explicit and inappropriate. This was mentioned to hotel staff. Luckily the majority of children were younger and oblivious, however our children are older and were very shocked to hear it! -Again, for a family hotel, the choice of children's food was abysmal. It was pretty much the same day in day out, and was left out for far too long so it had all dried up and was not pleasant. Unfortunately, our children ate the same things every day from the adults options. Breakfast was the best option and they filled themselves up on this each day! -During our stay, we complained three times to reception about a really unpleasant drain smell that seemed to just be in the children's room, predominantly the bathroom. We were told each time they would send someone to check/fix and nothing was ever done. We gave up in the end and went through a can of deodorant to attempt to mask the smell! -I would not recommend this hotel for anyone with mobility issues if they are planning to venture out on foot. It is positioned on a pretty steep hill (we even struggled!) and is a fair walk to the start of the main shopping/eating area. We did this walk once at the start of the holiday and ended up getting quick taxis there and back from then! -Although the waterpark was great, and a fab addition to have, it was situated completely separate to the main hotel and pool. This meant that we had to walk upstairs, through reception and across the entrance parking area to access it. Because of this, each time the kids wanted to go to the waterpark, an adult(s) needed to go over and sit with them there. It would have been far easier if the waterpark was actually on site with the main pool area so we didn't need to keep moving between the two, although I realise this is probably not feasible with the set up. Despite the issues, we would most definitely be back, and would have no hesitation in recommending.

This hotel is horrendous, the best thing about it is the location and water park, which says it all. The hotel is tired, dirty, smelly, mouldy and all round disgusting. The staff especially at the reception are woeful. They always look miserable, probably because they are dealing with so many complaints. Now let’s talk about the food. It is by far the worst food I’ve ever had at a hotel, I’m not sure you can actually call it food. Some of the “meat” items taste like they don’t have meat in them. This includes the sausages, salami. Don’t have the omelette as it a watered down concoction. Don’t have the juices as they have all been watered down. Nothing you eat tastes fresh. You can tell that the hotel are trying to save cash by buying cheap food alternatives, all this does is increase wastage as people pick food from the buffet, then taste it, realise it’s trash, then throw most of it away. Not sustainable at all, and the hotel must waste an incredible amount of food. JUST BUY BETTER QUALITY FOOD! If you have children, please do not bring your kids here. If you care about their health and nutrition, please please go somewhere else. It’s shocking that places like this exist!

When we arrived, we stood in a queue which didn’t take long at all and was soon heading to our rooms. The receptionist was very polite and welcoming, she told us all about the hotel and the facilities. The food was good and plenty of it. A lot of choices for even the most fussy guests. The rooms were clean and a good size. Some of the shelves in the cupboard were a bit dusty but it wasn’t a problem. It’s on a hill but if you can’t manage the walk there is a shuttle bus down to the beach and back. This was our 3rd visit to the hotel and have already booked our 4th.

The hotel was very clean and staff were friendly. The food we could not fault. Went half board through travel agent and upgraded to all inclusive at the hotel-(a lot cheaper than through the agent) we saved hundreds of pounds. The room was spacious and served it's purpose. Maids were excellent. Beware- the walk to the beach, as it has extremely steep hill to climb. I am fit, but even i had to stop several times to catch my breath and rest my legs. There was only 2 pubs outside the resort, and they were poor. The hotel manager advised us to wait for the coach outside reception, but the coach did not arrive. Resulting in a £100 taxi to the airport, which we tried to claim back, but coach driver lied and said we never showed, even though the hotel confirmed that we did. To sum up- furteventura is too quiet and our resort was too far from the airport, over an hour. My advice is to go somewhere else, where there is some life at least.

Dear Paulcn, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're thrilled to hear that our cleanliness standards and the friendliness of our staff met your expectations, and it's wonderful to know that our varied culinary offerings were to your satisfaction. It's also gratifying to learn that you found value in our all-inclusive package when upgrading directly with us. We regret to hear about the challenges you faced with the transportation to the airport and understand how such situations can affect one's experience. We're looking into the communication issues with the coach service to prevent such incidents in the future. Regarding the location, our hotel is indeed designed as a tranquil retreat, and we acknowledge that the unique geography of the area, including the walk to the beach, can be challenging for some guests. We're pleased that you enjoyed the spaciousness of your room and the exemplary service provided by our housekeeping team. We hope to be able to welcome you back on a return visit for an improved experience. Best regards, Equipo de Dirección Occidental Jandía Resort
