My girlfriend and I spent 5 nights at Kizikula in January 2023. We had a wonderful trip and would thoroughly recommend it to anybody looking for a bit of R&R.

From the moment we booked, communication with the hotel staff was impeccable. We were given lots of information about our stay, potential excursions we might like, offers to arrange airport transfers etc, which was all very helpful.

Our room was spacious, air conditioned and clean with a massive comfortable bed and outdoor shower. All the staff were delightfully smiley and friendly throughout. The quality of the food was excellent. There are about 6 options for lunch plus a daily special. Dinner was a 3 course set menu, with a meat or vegetarian option for main. Each day you get sent the lunch and dinner menu’s via a private WhatsApp group, along with other daily hotel information e.g. tide timings, yoga classes etc. We never wanted to deviate from the 2x main diner options, because they were all great, but they do offer some flexibility to cater for special requests if you don’t like either option.

The pool is gorgeous and the sun loungers are spread out and varied. Being west facing, the sunsets are truly spectacular. There are two access points from the hotel to the Indian Ocean, which we used at high tide for swimming and low tide for strolling along the beach.

The location is remote, with next to nothing going on in the surrounding area, other than a few other hotels lining the south west coastline, so prepare to be hotel bound unless you make an effort to leave (not that this is a problem). There are excursions available, but as mentioned you have to travel a little to do so. We did one trip to Pungume Island (very local), an evening at Paje Beach (30 mins drive each way) and a day to Stone Town/Prison Island (1 hour drive each way), which the hotel staff helpfully assisted arranging elements of. Taxis are pretty cheap and it’s quick to get around the island… though be prepared for some white knuckle journeys.

All things considered, excellent hotel, lovely food and very friendly staff. Thanks for making our stay so enjoyable.

My family (4 including a 4 yo and a 3 yo) had an AMAZING experience at Kizikula.

We arrived and were greeted by the owners, who were in the pool with several guests. We enjoyed a candlelight, family-style barbecue dinner including jumbo prawns and fresh-caught fish. The experience of waking up in a beautiful room (the attention to detail on the finishings were fantastic), taking a shower (inside although our room had a private outdoor shower as well) and taking a walk to watch the sunrise over the Indian Ocean was something that we will remember for a long time. We enjoyed some craft coffee and breakfast was delicious and nutritious. Our children spent much of the rest of the morning in the swimming pool, which is the perfect pool for both adults and children! In fact, our son took his very first strokes without his water wings here at Kizikula! Although this is a luxury/boutique hotel, they do amazing things with permaculture on the hotel grounds: the entire campus is planted with edible plants and trees, and our children enjoyed visiting the chickens and the goats!

The highlights for us were the setting, the food, and the perfect balance of being luxury and laid-back (a balance that is difficult to achieve!). Highly recommend!

A great little family run boutique hotel on the south western coast of Zanzibar ( about an hour 15 mins from the airport). There are only 9 rooms each with a slightly different look and feel. Chef Rose makes the best freshest food or your life and the staff are friendly and helpful making you feel at home. The unique access to the ocean through the cave is an exprience!
I will definitely be back

Room Tip: the sea is accessible by the deck or a cave not by a beach. There is a sandy public beach close by.

The resort is nestled on the south-west coast, so sunset views are incredible. The food menu offered great variety using local produce and was arguably the best we had during our stay in Zanzibar. Staff are wonderful and the decor has been meticulously thought out with wonderful personal touches; rooms individually named, artwork in the rooms is different to any other we saw on the island and the outdoor shower was a great touch.

This amazing little hitten gem of a hotel was one of the absolute highlights of our Zanzibar trip, and an absolute must-visit for couples. The atmosphere was unique, and with just 9 rooms, it feels like we had the beautiful pool area, the amazing sundeck, the cozy swahili-style lounge, and the 180° view of the Indian Ocean all to ourselves. It is definately targeted towards couples, and makes a perfect destination for the ultimate romantic getaway. The restaurant served some of the best food we had on our trip around the island, and the quality and huge portions made up for the quite limited selection of dishes.
The staff is incredibly friendly and very attentive, and they seem to enjoy working there (unlike some other places we've visited), which really rubs off on the entire atmosphere. The room was utterly beautiful, even though we didn't spend much time there. They offer a wide range of excursions and activities, complimentary yoga, paddle boards, and there's a pretty well equipped workout station with a great viewof the ocean as well. All in all, this place is definately worth the money, and might be the reason that we'll eventually return to Zanzibar.

If you are looking for a different experience and prefer feeling like a friend rather than a guest- this is for you. The big, productive and lush garden is to be explored and enjoyed and there are even bush babies around. All rooms have their own unique design done by friends of the owners. Especially did we love the amazing pool- built in granite stone which gives swimming in a pool a whole new expereince. Food is excellent and sourced from the their own permaculture garden and from around Zanzibar/Tanzania. The sunset views over the horizon is second to no other place I have visited. We just loved every minute of it !

Fantastic boutique resort on the quiet South-West coast of the island. The grounds are really well designed with natural gardens and rooms that blend into the surroundings. The pool is one of the best on the island and the sunset views are spectacular. The staff are very attentive and friendly, the food is delicious and most of it comes from the garden. And a rarity on the island - the WiFi actually works well! Highly recommended for a romantic getaway.

This hotel is absolutely perfect. The location allows guests to have privacy and to relax, being far from very touristic spots on the island. The staff is always so friendly and ready to take care of any requests. Food is amazing and tasty. The room was extremely clean and the focus on details was absolutely amazing. Highly recommended!!

Visited Kizikula twice and had the most amazing experiences both times. There's something undescribable serene about the place. Eyes resting when meeting the esthetic rooms and spaces in harmony with surrounding nature; food is divine, and if feels like visiting family friends rather than staying at a hotel. Enjoyed the best pool on the island; children went exploring in the gardens, we SUPed at sunset and went hiking in the early mornings. We found everyone so gentle and helpful and had an absolutely amazing time there.
Can't wait to come back again - I know that it will be even better than first two visits because it's a place that keeps improving and surprising in the best possible sense.

I had dinner and breakfast and then ate at another hotel further up the coast; Kizikula's food was some of the best I had on the island.
