Having been to this quaint little tea house/shop previously, I looked forward avidly to this most recent occasion. Unfortunately it was spoilt by one or two issues. As I arrived two ambulance vehicles were directly outside. Entering I observed an injured man sitting with his forehead bandaged, attended by ambulance staff. It transpired he had become injured outside and offered...

Came here for the first time last week and had a delicious lunch and cake, which tasted as good as it looked. Upset to hear from the owner that the tea shop is closing for good on the last Saturday in February. Will definitely visit again for Afternoon Tea before then.

Only visit this establishment if you're over 50 and don't want anything too exciting. My friend raved about this place and the corn fritters were delicious, but the member of staff that was rude about my child ruined the whole visit. I first heard her rather unprofessionally talking about my son and I to other guests. Then she proceeded to...

Hi I'm very sorry you got the wrong end of the stick when eves dropping my conversation. I was expressing disappointment to a friend who also has a restaurant business in where my team had chosen to seat you and how they had not even thought to move the card spinners to the other side of the room as they...

This place is great, great ambience and great food. If you have issues with the owner then I suggest you broaden your horizons and get out more - she is what makes this place unique - you can always go to Costa, Cafe Nero etc

Absolutely loved the afternoon tea at Cabbages & Kings. You can tell all the sandwiches are fresh and the cakes are home made. The staff are welcoming and the decor is lovely. Would highly recommend, probably one of the best afternoon teas I've had!

Second visit on 7th May 2016 and will NOT be returning. Our party of 8 ladies were not made to feel welcome from the start, told they were too early (10 mins) as table was not laid out. The vegetarian/gluten free afternoon tea was served with HAM sandwiches which was obviously distressing for the person concerned. Jane, the owner, whisked...

Just go, it really is good! Homemade cakes, lovely shop, reasonably priced, away from the hustle and bustle of busy London life. Lunch, breakfast and afternoon tea are all freshly prepared. Just don't tell too many people about it.....our little secret!!! The garden is gorgeous in summer too and you might pick up a little something for the house. Great...

I absolutely adore this place. It is one of those rare little gems where you can happily while away the morning chatting with friends and be guaranteed to enjoy a sumptuous menu of delicious homemade delights. It reminds me of a lovely little tea shop in Cornwall or Devon, an unusual find a mere 22 miles from London. It is...

I have tried to eat here on 2 occasions with some time lapse between bookings. Both times the owner has called to cancel the day before so very short notice!! The first cancellation due to staffing problems and the second time due to refurbishment. Strange, as she must have known well in advance regarding the refurbishment! The owner has an...

Hi Thank you for your review. Gosh what bad luck you have. Your absolutely right though there is something wrong with this place it's an independent cafe owned and run by one person with no family, siblings, children etc so there is no one to call when things don't go to plan for one reason or another. Yes I did...

In the heart of the quaint village of Halstead is this little shop. The village is just off Junction 4 on the M25. The shop is on the corner of Church road and used to be the old post office. They have a delightful, small menu and everything I've tried is wonderful. I recommend the Buck Rarebit and the Prawn...
