Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely superb. Charlotte didn’t miss a detail and I was just in awe of her thoughtfulness towards our whole family, with stashes of toys hidden throughout the barn. The woodland and farm are as beautiful as the barn with ingenious play ideas throughout; we needn’t have gone any further all week! But it is an ideal spot to venture out to Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire. We were a family, but it would be a wonderful couple’s getaway too.

Thank you Clare. I’m just so thrilled to read your very kind words. More importantly tho I’m so pleased you and your family enjoyed yourselves so much here in this lovely part of the world. The valley is turning autumnal now and looks quite different every week. Glad your little boy loved his holiday too and enjoyed the toys which I leave specially out when children come to stay! Thank you also for leaving the barn in such great shape. All for now! Charlotte 😀

A haven in the Welsh countryside. Charlotte was an instant friend and could not have been more accommodating. Her husband, Jerry, was an absolute hero, showing my son his farm machines and letting us watch some them in use. If you have kids, stay here. There is a stream on the property, as well as swings, woods to explore and all you'll ever need for a family getaway. The barn has underfloor heating and is super cosy to come back to after a hectic day exploring. Haven't slept so well in years. We'll definitely be back!

Thanks so much for this lovely review! Glad you slept well and found the barn warm and cosy with underfloor heating! Much needed in the rain! Jerry enjoyed showing off his vintage tractors and looks forward to being interviewed by your young lad when he does the school project or even a masters in mechanics through the ages! Thank you for being such brilliant visitors! Warmest of wishes to you all for 2023. Charlotte and Jerry. :)

We cannot recommend this lovely barn enough. The location is gorgeous, tucked away in a valley with walks and forests round about. The barn was very well equipped and had everything we needed for our stay. Charlotte was a lovely host, a lovely lady. We will definitely visit the Old Oak Barn again

We have enjoyed our stay at Old Oak Barn enormously. The accommodation has been generously furnished with lots of lovely touches such as book and games for children and adults. The kitchen is brilliantly equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine as well as everything you might need to prepare a meal (sharp knives too!). We enjoyed fresh eggs and vegetables while we were there and got to pick plenty of blackberries from the woodland. The highlight for us was the vast amount of space the children were able to enjoy: They loved wandering up the lane to check on the cows and sheep; they will treasure the memory of the newborn calf; they loved heading off to play on the many swings. Thank you Charlotte and Jerry for your hospitality.

Our first stay at Old Oak Barn. Couldn't have had a better experience. Hosts were very welcoming with fresh flowers and eggs from their own chickens. The Barn was very comfortable and felt like a home from home. The quietest night sleep we have ever had. We will definitely be returning next year and we've already recommended to family and friends.

The Old Oak Barn is the perfect get away set in beautiful countryside with its own woods to enjoy, which our dog loved. The barn is clean and spacious with all that you need and although set up for a couple and children, it was perfect for us 3 adults too. The owners are really friendly and are onsite to help with anything required without being intrusive. We had a great relaxing stay and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Set in a beautiful, peaceful and secluded spot, The Old Oak Barn is a wonderful self catering home. It is very well presented, clean and cosy. Charlotte and Jerry are very warm and hospitable hosts, full of useful information about the area. For those with children, it is exceptionally well equipped with toys and books. Outside there are many areas to explore and several very peaceful and secluded sitting areas. We enjoyed our stay immensely.

This was our third stay at old oak barn. It really is a treasure of a place. So well set up for children that you can turn up and instantly be in holiday mode. The house is cosy and comfortable, always spotlessly clean and so well stocked. The woodlands, stream, fairy trail, mud kitchen, chickens and tractor rides provide endless entertainment right on the doorstep. The location is ideal for beaches, castles and beautiful coastal walks. We loved our early morning walks through the bluebells and late evening birdsong soundtrack whilst sitting round the firepit. Charlotte and Jerry are welcoming and attentive hosts with a wealth of local knowledge and recommendations. I really can't recommend Old oak barn enough. It is definitely our happy place! (Loved by dog, kids and adults alike!)

This was our 2nd visit to Old Oak Barn and we loved it just as much as our first. It’s a magic combination of ingredients that makes for such a special stay. Charlotte and Jerry are incredibly warm, welcoming hosts who clearly relish sharing their patch of Carmarthenshire with visitors. The barn itself is big, light filled, comfy and brilliantly well equipped (including an abundance of toys and games for the children). And the setting is idyllic with woods to explore, a stream to play in, new born lambs to discover, tractor rides and a chorus of birds as your backdrop. I can give Old Oak Barn no higher praise than the fact that our 2 boys (aged 5 and 7) ask to just stay put and explore when we visit. Everything that they love in a holiday is right there. And that makes for happy family times. Thankyou Charlotte and Jerry. We very much hope to be back in 2023!
