I booked a place for myself and my husband to attend the foraging walk and lunch at Burleigh Court in late August. It was a birthday present for him and I don't think I could have chosen better. A small group headed out to explore the local area led by the impressive Emmanuelle - who blends her scientific background and knowledge of all things foraging passionately and perfectly. It really was highly informative, useful and a revelation. Our time foraging was then followed by the most delicious lunch. It really was a great way to spend a large part of the day and we will be booking in other seasons. Highly recommended!

Hotel's Favourite
This place is a jewel, it is under new ownership and they are creating something very special. The food (especially the evening meal) was outstanding, far better than I would have expected. It is totally clean, great location. The staff know what hospitality is all about and small touches make it even more special. I arrived 430 one day and left (unfortunately, wish I could have stayed longer) mid afternoon the next day - I left feeling refreshed, uplifted, like I am been a special other world for awhile - it felt like a retreat for me and I felt very spoilt, but I think you could enjoy it in many other ways too - for business, just for a drink, or a meal, as a base to discover the local area too etc. Great grounds too and views. This hotel / restaurant is definitely one to watch, it is going somewhere special, I would highly recommend it.

Hugely disappointing. The welcoming and checkin was good. We only saw three people the whole time rushing around trying to do everything. No leadership. The room was a let down. At the very least when you’re paying over of £200 you would expect something as comfortable as home but this was far from it. Lino in the bathroom that made a Travelodge look more appealing. Filthy extractor fan, old fixtures and fittings - a faint smell of urine. I’m not a hotelier but no window in bathroom = you should have an extractor fan with an over run - it was just noisy and shut off when you turned the light of off - result - musty smelling bathroom. Guys - if you’re selling something you need to make people feel like they’re getting something special, memorable (for the right reasons) luxury - that bathroom is not. The room itself was ok but again nothing had been done to it in a while. I get you want to keep the charm of an older building but you can still think about the comfort of your guests and make sure the doors can open without the checkin guy having to force it open with his shoulder. We found the bathroom door was the same. Build it and they will come. Offer something special - offer more than you think you need to and people will pay more and come back for more. Nothing felt special about this place apart from the views. We won’t be staying here again or recommending it.

Dear Allan, thank you for your review and sharing your views. I am sorry you took issue with the bathroom. Unfortunately I cannot find your name in our booking system so it is difficult to know which bathroom you took issue with. It is always helpful and perhaps more constructive to raise concerns direct. As you can see from the many good reviews we are receiving, people generally feel we are delivering well on the "special". We have a high number of happy returning guests which generally tells the tale. Thanks you for the feedback however and all the very best to your future travels.

We visited for afternoon tea. The location is very nice with lovely views. The tea was excellent and very good value for money. Savouries in place of sandwiches was a nice change. The staff very friendly and attentive.

What a joy to write a review of such a lovely place. From the moment I called to check details I had a good feeling - and that was borne out by every single member of staff at Burleigh Court. Charming, helpful and naturally friendly people, working in a beautiful old house set in glorious surroundings. The food at dinner and breakfast was fabulous, and the lady in charge of breakfast would make the most grumpy guest feel calm and happy. The house itself is set in lovely grounds with amazing views over the Gloucestershire countryside. For us it was the perfect mix - nicely creaky four-poster bed with comfortable mattress; vintage-style room with modern bathroom; oak-panelled dining room with modern British cooking. Haven't slept so well or eaten so well in a hotel for a very long time (if ever!). We will be back.
