We've decided to go to Cantabria for a four days weekend to celebrate my 57 birthday. And we also decided to stay in palacio Trasvilla. And that was a very good decision, I dare to say. We stayed in room Flamenco, and Alfredo was an excellent host. He showed us some of the other rooms, he was always ready to...

We are a family of 5 and we stayed in two beautiful rooms on the top floor of this wonderful B & B. It is very elegant and romantic (all of the other guests were couples), but we felt very comfortable there with our kids. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to forget about the sight seeing and...

My wife and I spent 2 nights at Alfredo's wonderful Palacio de Trasvilla. The warm welcome was just the beginning of a great stay and we didn't want to leave. The quality of the renovation, the attention to detail and the beautiful antiques are matched by the friendliness and warmth of Alfredo. This is one of those places that has...

This hotel is in the middle of nowhere and we could not believe the beauty all around. Between the decor from the receiving get room to the suites..everything exudes elegance and good taste. The ground are beautifully kept and the ambiance is exquisite. Everything is super clean. The owner was so attentive and nice. Our breakfast the next Morning was...

This place was superb! Four of us (2 couples) stayed only 1 night, based on the reviews this place has had - and we were stunned at how great it was. As other reviewers have said - beautifully renovated (by the owner, Alfredo, over many years - a genuine labour of love), glamorously decorated with antiques, huge rooms, wonderful shared...

This place is a find, make no mistake. In fact, just finding it up a narrowing windy lane passing through farmyards is no mean feat in itself. However, once found you won't want to leave. The Palacio de Trasvilla is the perfect escape from the 21st century. Restored and furnished in period style by the attentive and friendly host, Alfredo,...

You certainly won't leave saying 'well, that was average'! This is a lovingly restored baroque hotel all put together by the flamboyant Alfredo who is a very keen host! Rooms are Gothic splendour and full of curtains, mirrors and lavish touches. Our boys loved the hot tub which it looks as though most rooms have. It is VERY quiet, a...

Myself and three friends stayed here on our last night of our Spanish roadtrip. What a place! Absolutely breathtaking. Alfredo, the owner, is a fantastic host, his property is mesmerising. The attention to detail is out of this world, I felt like royalty staying here. The views, the bedrooms, the pool, the jacuzzi - just check out the photos and...

What a wonderful surprise this place is! A beautiful villa which has been renovated by the owner, Alfredo, and his family. It is stunning, full of the most amazing antiques, both in the rooms and the public areas. We had a look at a couple of the rooms and they are all lovely - the suite is really special with...

We sadly only spent one night at this hotel, however I've already vowed to go back. Situated in a beautiful area of countryside outside of Santander (about 30 mins from the airport) the hotel itself was in ruins before the owner, Alfredo, spent 8 yrs renovating it. He's done a beautiful job, and has filled it with antiques that give...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
La Casona Palacio de Trasvilla is a holiday farm estate which opened its doors in 2008 after a painstaking restoration of the old palace.During the process we have tried to keep the charm of an old palace with all the comforts of a modern country hotel. Decorated with a stately furniture, as old as the house itself, dating from the eighteenth century, offers travelers a place for relaxation and enjoyment, not only of the rooms of the property but the privileged situation that surrounds us. We are members of Cantabria INFINITE QUALITY CLUB since 2010 and try to improve every day.WHERE you will restThe walls of the Palacio de Trasvilla home stays that let you rest and relax surrounded by history. Deeper into our house means to rest in beds of three hundred years ago, store your personal belongings in lockers richly carved in wood which belonged to noble houses across the country or the best seats, consoles recuviertas gold leaf or admire Flemish tapestries brought from Italy and the Netherlands. Staying at the Palace Trasvilla is simply moving to the past. I tell you a secret ... in one room you will find even a Templar Lamp brought from Paris dating from the twelfth century ... In addition, the house retains the so-called "Four of the Pilgrim", which indicates that housing was resting place for riders and pilgrims.MY STORYThis Casona palace located in what was one of the councils that made up the ancient valley of Carriedo, one of the Merindad of Asturias de Santillana, is in an area of special natural and cultural interest. When the house was built in the eighteenth century, at the height of the area, also built the Gothic church of St. Peter the Apostle, in Escobedo, the Baroque church of San Juan Bautista in the Solar Villafufre and father of the writer Lope de Vega, Don Felix de la Vega y Carpio, Vega. In the days of splendor of this property, which also owned the adjoining properties, there on the farm blocks as large as the current home, an oak, walnut and one of eight flour mills that existed in the township. Today the remains of the mill, moved by the stream of Santiago and the wall that served to channel water. The route passes the great gate, is the Camino Real and preserved in the Ensenada Cadastre about 60 documents that prove the existence, between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries, a significant number of emails to the King's horse , natives of this area, members of a fraternity acting under the name of Santa Ana, who contributed to the formation of the province of Cantabria, through this quoted Camino Real.
