Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Warm welcome, nice room, separate guest living room. Good parking. We estimate they have about 8 rooms available. It was peaceful in the night. In the evening limited but nice food & drink options in Shannonbridge. Nice breakfast

We stayed one night and found the hosts, room and breakfast to be fine. We were met with a warm greeting - especially from the dog!- and shown through. The room is smallish but we had 4 bags which does make large rooms small. The bed is a double size with 4 pillows which were comfy. The shower stall is pretty small but typical of Ireland. Curtains were a bit short so some light came in. The room was plenty warm with a large radiator in the room and a small one in the bathroom. The TV is pretty small as seems to be the norm in B&B’s The breakfast is sufficient with 3 cereals, yoghurts, bread, fruit and juice. Breakfast is cooked to order with sausage, bacon, egg and tomato available. The menu doesn’t list too many options for non-meat and egg eaters and options weren’t offered. The hot breakfast was good, the bacon especially so but just one egg was interesting. Our main dislike was the amount of noise generated by the wooden floors. Every step could be heard from rooms beside and above. There seemed to be 2 other rooms booked during our stay so perhaps we got poor neighbours (one did leave his diesel car idling outside our window for 5 minutes or so ; ‘Thanks’) and they talked loudly. I don’t know the answer to this one, even locking the bedroom door seemed to incur a lot of noise. No one else seems to mention it in reviews so maybe we are precious, but we did tire of footsteps and snoring.

Stayed here while touring from Galway to Dublin. It was a last minute decision to stay in Stonebridge and Brian was very helpful. He is very knowledgeable about the area and a gracious host. The rooms were very clean and spacious. We had to start early the next morning so Brian offered to start the breakfast service early in order to accommodate our needs. Stonebridge is a bit off the beaten path but if your in the area (visiting the Clonmacnoise Monastery perhaps) I definitely recommend staying at the Ely House.

Shannonbridge is a perfect base to explore the beautiful midlands area. It provides easy access to Clonmacnoise, Shannon Harbour and Lough Boora. Our stay at Ely House was just great and we would highly recommend this B&B. Rooms were comfortable, fresh and clean and breakfast plentiful and delicious. Brian and co. were generous and looked after us well. Brian is also very knowledgable about the area and is author of a book on Clomacnoise. We would certainly return.

The location is wonderful and the accommodations are clean and well looked after. I traveled with my two young adult daughters and we had everything we needed. The room was well equipped, spacious, and very clean. As well, the bathroom was spacious, clean, and well equipped (although the shower head needs to be fixed a bit). Brian was a wonderful host, we had good conversations and he offered me use of his house phone when I needed to contact my cousins in Ballinasloe, which so very helpful. The breakfast was top notch. The sideboard with breads, cheeses, jams, etc. was a great start to our made to order (eggs cooked to order, meats, toast) breakfast. Olive's service was a real treat with her attentiveness, personality and sense of humor being more that appreciated. This B&B is wonderful and we will be back.

Brian looked after us from our first contact. The rooms are good, if in need of a little TCL. Breakfast was ideal. Cereal, fruit, soda bread, cooked breakfast, lashings of tea/coffee. This set us up for the day. Either Brian, his wife or else an amazingly funny member of staff, Olive, will look after you. As fishermen, we needed storage facilities and a bait fridge. Whilst the fridge is only a domestic under bench fridge it pretty much did the trick, though don't make the mistake we did of having 2 gallon paint buckets since they don't fit the fridge. All in all I would happily return!
