A wonderful resort set on the banks of the Kok River. The resort is alive with wildlife and surrounded by stunning gardens full of flowers and ponds. The rooms are large, spacious and full of everything you would need. There is outside seating overlooking the gardens which is perfect for enjoying a beer.

Thank you very much for taking time to write a review. We have been delighted at the number of 'excellent' reviews we are receiving 'post covid' so to speak. What is particularly pleasing is the large number of guests who arrive having booked one night, feel much the same about the resort as your good self, and extend their stay and in one case for a further 6 nights!

What a beautiful place. The whole place was so well designed and beautifully maintained. The plants and flowers were a delight. Our room was very comfortable with a lovely terrace looking onto the small lake. The pool area was small but perfectly adequate and we sat there for 2 afternoons in perfect peace. The view from the restaurant was superb, especially in the morning with the mist rising over the mountains. We really enjoyed the food, eating at the restaurant for 3 nights and trying a variety of well cooked, very tasty Thai dishes. The staff were all very helpful and smiley all the time! They seemed to genuinely want to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We thoroughly enjoyed being here and left feeling very relaxed. Thank you to everyone at Maekok River Village!

The Maekok River Village resort is a hidden gem! Highly recommended. A wonderful hotel in the Northern Thai mountains with loads of activities, beautiful grounds, friendly and helpful staff (including Brian the owner) and modern, comfortable rooms. Tranquility and relaxation in a perfect setting. Just disappointed we are not staying longer - but it is certainly somewhere we will come back to again.

Thank you very much for this very special review and delighted that you had such a good, albeit short stay. Your comment about being disappointed not to have stayed longer is a common response from many guests! After being closed for such a long time, we are very pleased that the standards we enjoyed before Covid have been maintained and appreciated by our guests. Best wishes and hope to see you back at the MRVR for a longer stay!

Nice hotel located on the river bank of the Kok river . Rooms are really nice despite a few visitors found ( spiders and other similar) but I guess this is very usual in Thailand. Hotel restaurant is really great and comes with an outstanding view on the river, fantastic food reasonably priced. Very quiet and romantic place

Had a delightful 3 days at this resort recently….the setting is terrific and the service was great. Also the food for both breakfast and dinner was excellent. The only drawback was the cottages….they are in great need of upgrades….plenty of room but also many holes that allow insects and other critters to enter easily. You can also hear your neighbor too easily. I would definitely return here!

Dear David, Thanks for the very positive comments overall and the fact that you would return here. Being a very rural location, there are of course plenty of 'critters' but your point is taken regarding gaps, although most of these critters are capable of collapsing their skeletons to get through even the smallest crack!! It is now two years since we began to feel the pain of covid and indeed have closed for a total of 18 of the 24 months, Revenues have fallen to less than 5% of our norm and one of the many victims has been planned upgrades. Still, the fact that you would return does imply that things were not too bad. So hope to see you again in happier times. Best wishes,

The resort on the banks of the Maekok river and its beautiful gardens make the perfect backdrop for a wedding celebration. Over the three days, we enjoyed outdoor activities, cooking courses, and lounging by the pool with staff tending to our every need. The delicious Shan menu allows you taste a different side of Thai food to other resorts around Thailand. Bryan and Rosie supported us with every step of the planning through the uncertainty of COVID and gave us the flexibility to plan a celebration that matched us. With family and friends unable to travel from abroad, it wasn’t the celebration we had initially planned, but with Bryan and Rosie’s and their staff’s help, we had a really memorable weekend. Thank you, Lisa and Eoin

Dear Eoin and Lisa, Thank you very much for this very kind review and also for your determination tp go ahead with your celebration in these difficult times. I am glad you thought the whole stay was a success and I know the staff appreciated your comments as well as the very generous tip. Also a huge thanks for the donation for our Special Needs School, which is also being 'threatened' due to the impacts of COVID on our business and hence our ability to support these deserving children. Thanks again and all our very best wishes for your future together.

A trip to northern Thailand and the vicinity of Chiangrai would not be complete without staying at Maekok River Village Resort. The wonderful resort owners Bryan & Rose have created a fantastic oasis of beautiful gardens & homely accommodation in a beautiful riverside setting. The resort is setup perfectly for families, singles or groups traveling together. Guests can easily relax around the resort and explore the beautiful surrounding countryside, however they would then miss out on the numerous activities available at the resort. We tried archery, rock climbing, kayaking, cooking classes & a guided hike to a beautiful local temple all of which were brilliantly organized and conducted very professionally. We can’t recommend highly enough that you stay at Maekok River Village Resort!

Dear Kit, Many thanks for such a lovely review. It has been great in these 'COVID' times to be able to offer families the option of a longer stay and thus having time to enjoy the wide range of activities we can provide. It is particularly satisfying to do so when we get such an enthusiastic response, as we did, from your young daughters who were determined to have a go at everything. Thanks also for the recommendations to others to head this way! Best wishes.

Have been coming back to this place for years and am never disappointed. The owners, Bryan and Rosie, will make certain your stay is delightful. It is hard for me to imagine a better experience. My entire family had a smile on their face all 5 days and were never bored. All boxes were ticked - outstanding food, quality and friendliness of service staff, on-site and off-site activities, relaxing and beautiful atmosphere. I want to go back for another 5 days and so does my family!

We returned to Mae Kok River Resort in December knowing how wonderful the food, activities and staff are. The spacious and comfortable rooms face open onto beautiful gardens in full bloom. Bryan and Rosie are wonderfully warm hosts, providig extra blankets when temperatures were nearing single figures, mince pies and a roaring fire every night in the bar to keep us warm. Bryan also arranged a camping trip for us up Doi Pha Hok Pok - including all equipmemt- which was just stunning. On our return the wonderful Chon supervised us in our archery, raft building and on the confidence course. The meals were delightful, the setting serene. I can't wait to return.

Dear Katie, It was lovely to see you again and that you and the family obviously greatly enjoyed your time with us. Like all the other families who came to stay over the holidays, allowing 4 to 5 days to really appreciate the area and to enjoy the many activities is really 'the way to go'. So many guests on checking out after an overnight stay frequently regret that only one night was booked and so it is really good that a good number of guests decided to make their stay with us longer and very active - ideal for families with young and 'active' children. All the best.
