Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Booked the self catering lodge for 3 nights 2-4th August for a family of 4. Nice spacious cottage. Really comfy beds and great shower. A bit dated but that added to the charm. The entire family was super friendly and we loved going to the bar, playing a few games and having a drink. We didn’t eat dinner there only breakfast but seems it’s quite popular with a lot of reserved tables so book if you plan on having dinner. Overall great little place and I’d definitely stay again.

Lovely folk, good food and decent drink prices. Rooms quite small and in room tv tiny, and I mean tiny. So if watching tv is important it won’t work out. That said, we would return as adrian and Tracey are great hosts and I suspect will improve the place.

Great pub with rooms. Decor in pub is 70s time warp but the welcome is warm and genuine. Its a multigenerational family business and nothing is too much trouble . Tracey is a great cook of consistently good pub food. The locals are friendly and make visitors feel welcome.

Great dog friendly hotel, family run, you were made to feel very welcome including our very old dog. We stayed for a few days with our little dog in an apartment. Which you could stay in for a week or two if you wished as it was fully furnished and made a good location to tour Cornwall. We chose to have our breakfast and most evening meals in the pub. Breakfast was freshly cooked with various choices including full english to set you up for the day ahead, good pub grub for the evening meals. Yes there is a smell of smoke but only in the lobby, the rest of the hotel and apartments were fine. We will be back to stay again.

Called on route home from a day out. Arrived and went in. Asked to order said kitchen was closed, only open to residents. There's road signs and advertisement for this to be open .. so disappointed all 6 of us back in the car to find something elsewhere.

Response from Tracey Pooley, Owner at The Poldark Inn
Responded 30 Oct 2022
Good afternoon ClairebS9310RK Thankyou for taking the time to leave your review. Unfortunately and happily for you the reasons for our closure at last notice only meant you had to find somewhere else to eat. Under the circumstances our last thought was to pop on Google and alter our opening hours! It would be nice before leaving your review to consider exceptional circumstances that may of caused the closure. We did provide service to our B and B customers as you said but it was 4 people that some stepped in to help with. I do apologise for your inconvenience and hope you found a satisfactory alternative. Regards Tracey

Lovely pub with great food cooked properly Steak and ale pie was spot on and paired with REAL chips, the steak was perfectly cooked and chips really good, the pepper sauce was lovely but not needed to enhance the meal at all!! And it was all really reasonably priced as well We will definitely be back!

Stayed here for just one night in Sept and had evening meal and breakfast. The stay was pleasant enough and the staff were friendly, but the place seems to be stuck in the 70s, which incidentally is the average age of the guests. The postage stamp sized television in our room gave us a good chuckle, but the bathroom mirror made up for it by having an integral clock and thermometer! The room was clean enough, although we did find an empty hula hoops packet underneath one of the bedside cabinets. Perhaps that had been there since the 70s as well. Evening meal was ok, but nothing special as was breakfast. Would we stay again? Probably not.
