Travellers' Choice
A thatched 16th century traditional country inn located in the picturesque village of Marnhull & right in the heart of Thomas Hardy country! Steeped in history, with beautiful Dorset scenery, a warm welcoming atmosphere, luxury accommodation, award winning Dorset brewed Hall & Woodhouse Badger ales & great home cooked food. Please note for the time being the pub itself is closed on Mondays although we are still accepting room bookings on Mondays with dinner served in the room or, weather permitting, in the garden from a reduced menu.

Stayed for one night on business. Excellent service, very nice rooms top notch veggie breakfast. The rooms are in a converted annex to the pub so the noise isn’t much of a problem. I will definitely stay here again.

Stayed two nights in "Tess" one of the amazing historic pubs charming period rooms. Only reason we are giving this place 5 stars is because we can't give it 6! History of the place is amazing, in gorgeous Dorset village. Landlord and his team are fantastic, friendly, welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. Charming bar and restaurant steeped in history, full of character. Great selection of beers. Home cooked food is truly outstanding. We felt truly at home and were very sorry to leave. ( Also felt totally safe and secure Regards comprehensive measures in place re Covid) Sincere thanks to Monty and his lovely team. Very much look forward to return visit.

I wasn’t overly impressed that waitress wasn’t wearing a visor and service wasn’t as I’ve experienced elsewhere also the children portion was on a sandwich size plate so little they literally had burger 4 chips I counted and peas it was a baby portion and for £5.95 I then had to feed kids once I got home I was just so shocked it size protons of food and given that’s measure are in place for covid the staff wasn’t wearing visors and I didn’t see a lot of social distancing
