Just spent two nights with family celebrating an 80th birthday. After reading many negative reviews we were a bit apprehensive BUT everything was absolutely fine. Public areas were inviting and the restaurant and bar area very nice. Above all the staff were more than helpful, pleasant and attentive to requests. A very nice stay.

Booked my wife (and mum of 2 very young children) a well deserved massage at the spa. Infuriating to be told 30 mins prior to massage that someone has cancelled it. They don't know why it's just been cancelled. Thank you so much for ruining the one night a year I get to show this wonderful woman how dear she us to us all. Now we'll get up early so you can squeeze us in before we leave. Be careful! Not a reliable place to book your loved ones some R and R

We had a winter spa package, room small but nice tiny bathroom, we needed the heating on all the time for our stay with the room being very cold plus corridors and conservatory walking to your room. Can’t fault the food from bar food at lunch to evening meal. We had two 25 minutes treatment which were amazing but the pool and jacuzzi I would not rush back for that was the only thing that let it all down.

We had already booked a wedding venue however something didn't feel right and us, so a last minute chance sight of an Instagram post advertising an open evening at Rowton led to a let's just go and look visit,as soon as we got there we knew it was where we wanted to get married and the Inglenook was perfect for out intimate wedding . We booked the next day and haven't regretted a thing it was the best decision . Lisa was fantastic throughout, she made the whole thing stress free and easy, putting up with my inability to make a decision at times, even though she probably needed one and I was being a pain, she couldn't be more lovely and helpful. Lisa was with us every step of the way, making sure that everything was perfect and that we didn't miss a detail, she thought of things i hadnt and gave me so much help, she was with me on the day, came to collect me from my room and calmed any chaos that was prevailing as we were getting closer to the final minutes I can't thank her enough. I stayed the night before in the Rowton apartment which was gorgeous and huge, perfect for us girls to get hair and makeup done without chancing seeing the groom. The morning of the wedding we had a feast of a breakfast delivered by Louise and her team, she was so lovely and attentive making sure we had anything we could possibly want. She went above and beyond staying past 3pm to congratulate us and even kept a 5 month old baby asleep in his pushchair during the ceremony so mum could enjoy it and dad could do his best man duties. I had a visit from James the lovely general manager to check everything was ok, then our duty mamager for the day was Keiran, who was just amazing he made sure every detail was seen to nothing was to much trouble rhe day before or the day of and he kept us on track . Keiran was so attentive making sure that our day went smoothly and perfectly. we can't thank the whole team enough, they are a credit and made our day very special. We will definitely be back to stay.

Where do I start! We asked for dog friendly room and by far the worst we’ve stayed in yet. Room was small, very dated furniture, no heating just an oil radiator that was plugged in and no hot water, however after complaining the next morning the manager was helpful and obliging and upgraded us. I don’t think the hotel should be charging what they do for their rooms as they are very dated from what we experienced. I suggest they sort the heating problem out also as whilst we were at the reception complaining about our room the lady behind me said her room was freezing for the 2 nights she stayed and ended up sleeping in her cloths.

Overall we enjoyed our stay here, the hotel is clean and our bedroom was large with nice views. Breakfast was good and so was the pool and spa. However the bedroom was in much need of decoration in particular the bathroom which was very run down, awful old dressing gowns and a lack of shower gel in the bath. Breakfast was perfectly acceptable but the service was disappointing as no one smiled or engaged with us they literally just did their job with no pleasantries. The spa was cold as were the changing rooms. With a few improvements it could be perfect.

We held our wedding here on 10th February. As soon as we viewed this hotel, we knew it was where we would marry. The grounds are spectacular and beautifully maintained and inside remains true to its origins but with modern upkeep. The staff were amazing! The wedding planners, Lisa in particular, couldn't do enough for us leading up to the big day, nothing was too much trouble and I got responses quickly. For the day itself, our duty manager was Amy. What a credit to the hotel she is! She was there the night before too, ensuring everything all set up ready and she had lots of ideas and guidance. No matter what I needed on the day, Amy was right there and had either sorted it already or she would zoom off and do it straight away. The day went so smoothly because of her. I stayed in the Rowton Apartment the night before, which meant we had lots of space the morning of the wedding for hair and make up, so I would definitely recommend it. The food was delicious on the day and the hotel were great with making little changes for fussy eaters. All of our requests were met and we felt the price we paid for everything was reasonable compared to some other venues we looked at, but the hotel, grounds and friendly, professional staff is what makes this hotel stand out. A great little hidden Gem on the outskirts of Chester, we would highly recommend 😀

Don't listen to the negative reviews. From the minute we stepped into this establishment we were looked after and made to feel welcomed and appricated. From the checking in staff, to the waiting on staff and the spa staff were all amazing. The food was and service in the main restaraunt was amazing, even after a busy mother's day afternoon service although looking tired the staff went above and beyond. Garden room no 8 was out of this world. Can't recommend this hotel enough, forget the rest and book here.
