Memorable stay at Kodev.
Fantastic service provided by Chanuka and his team.
Stayed there two nights and everything was perfect, from checkin when we were picked up by boat then elegantly greeted with fresh towels and a refreshing drink, to checkout when Chanuka made sure we were safely driven to the next destination.
We had dinner there twice: seafood bbq was excellent, such as the rice and curry on the next day.
The tent itself is very cosy.
However, it's still a wild environment, so expect mosquitoes, all types of insects (and a wild donkey!).
If you're not bothered by a touch of wildness, you should book there. It was a very quiet parenthesis for us throughout our trip around Sri Lanka.

Well maintained three camps where food is very tasty and fresh seafood for any meal you need. Very friendly staff who will make every effort to make guests comfortable. It is unique and a class of its own where the whole island is yours except for staff.

Our holiday at Kodev was a very relaxing and secluded experience. You get picked up by speed boat from the pick up point (which is also a small fishing harbour). A quick 5 minute boat ride and you arrive at Kodev. It's a beautiful sight when approaching the property from the lagoon.

We stayed in one of the 3 tents at the property. The tent had its own private bathroom with hot water and all the required amenities. The bathroom has blinders but they can also be opened for a great view of the bush jungle behind the tent. The bed in the tent had a mosquito net which helped keep the mosquitoes at bay at night.

There's a small private beach in front of the property. We loved hanging out here, especially in the evening. Best location to catch a great sunset. There's also a small pier which they light up with lanterns every night.

Food is served at their restaurant / dining area. The team organised a seafood grill for us one night right next to the pier. There was quite an array of seafood - from huge tiger prawns to cuttlefish to fresh fish just off the boat. We certainly loved the fresh seafood at Kodev. The rice and curry was also a treat!

In terms of activities there are a bunch on offer including kite-surfing (if it's in season). We went dolphin watching instead which was wonderful. You start first thing in the morning and spend a couple hours out at sea. Getting to see the playful dolphins up close was quite phenomenal. Best time for this activity is between October and end-March. However, be mindful that too many boats are also a hazard for the dolphins so the wild life department regulates the number of boats out at sea at any given time.

Great service overall by the Kodev team led by Mr Aruna! We loved the seclusion and the isolation the property offers. Thanks again for the great hospitality.

Accidentally we found this place and took their residential offer. We were picked from the main land and welcomed to the glamping site. The staff was very friendly. The food was excellent and had a unique taste. The glamping site was open to the lagoon and we waked up with the lagoon view as we slept keeping the tent doors opened. The washroom was open to the bushes ( you can close if you want ). Overall, we had a nice time and no negatives. Plus, staff was following COVID distancing rules and all the time they were wearing masks.

Thank you Kodev team for all the hospitality!

Stayed for two nights - which I recommend is better than just one. There are three tents so if you book all - you have the whole place to yourselves!

It gets hot during midday but there's enough ventilation in the tents and it gets windy. We mostly enjoyed staying under the trees or in the hammock during the day.

The activities were well arranged. The boat tour during sunset had great views. One of us wanted to go on a dive and they arranged it for us with a centre nearby.

The food was delicious and very filling. The seafood at the BBQ was so fresh.

Friendly, courteous and super service by the team. Thank you!

Kodev is one of the most beautiful, calming and relaxing places we have come across in Kalpitiya.. For us, the plus point is the amazing sunset you get to witness when you get to the Kodev deck...The tents are also perfectly placed to give you that once in a lifetime experience. The evening sky overlooking the golden dutch bay surely makes a dream like evening. Also I have to say the sustainable practices they have taken to protect the mangroves and its wildlife is impressive..
Next best thing is the food. The dishes are super tasty and super fresh and we loved the fact that they use so much of seafood. The place is a seafood paradise..
Lastly, the friendly staff made us feel always welcomed. They are so supportive and always ready to attend any of the guests' requirements.
About the tents, they are comfortable and equiped with all the basic stuff you woukd need. We really loved the open bathroom concept they had which is a different experience to have.
Altogether, We had a lovely memorable stay at Kalpitiya all thanks to Kodev and it's staff and we are definitely planning to visit again soon.

As record holders at Kodev so far in staying 3 weeks ;) i do not no where to start...and NO we were not bored a single second!
It was absolutely perfect from booking to departure. You normally have to cut your expectations short for a holiday over this fairly long period to spend in one place, but not at Kodev - Peace and Action, Activity and Relaxation, Luxury and Nature, you can experiance it all in one amazing place, its simply Paradise!
Your are absolutely not limited at all, you can go for a barefeet run along the lagoon/beach or just relax under a mangrove tree, or a wake-up swim before the most mouthwatering and healthy breakfast (go for the herbal-drink!), once you had a nap or enjoyed yourself on a SUP paddling the lagoon you get pempered for lunch with an unbeatable Prawn-Curry or Crabs.
This time of the year, even if it is a bit less windy than during summer, it is absolutely brilliant for kitesurfing, when the wind starts picking-up around lunch time.
Your excitement starts already with the short boat ride to the kite beach on the ocean side of the lagoon (or a special 'Local-SUP' transport) or simply to any other kitespot if you fancy, just arrange with staff. For kitesurfing we enjoyed the flat water in the lagoon but also loved the ocean with its brilliant small waves e.g. for an amazing sundown kite session on my surfboard.
Alternatively you can enjoy diving within the colourful indian ocean and its amazing fish life or if you are not a water person you will love the Wildlife Safari experiance (we went there twice and it was absolutely worth it).
If you like to, you will experiance the absolute island feeling.
Ideas, what you may do the next day, are nearly read off your mind and everything will be arranged for you by the most friendly, helpfull and caretaking staff we have ever experienced. You can feel like home and part of the family. Thank you for these lovely christmas days and amazing start of the new year.
Keep it up guys and do not change anything of this beauty, special and peaceful atmosphere at Kodev!

Kodev was the first stop on our Honeymoon trip to Sri Lanka, and instanly removed us from city life, taking us to a tranquil, peaceful wilderness. We have never been to this country before, let alone stayed in this type of accomodation or location. We therefore arrived feeling slightly nervous, but within minutes of arriving on the island after a short boat ride we were thoroughly welcomed with a fresh juice and excited about our stay.

Chanuka and his team were warm, friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing time there. From greeting us at the shore, walking us back to our tent at night after dinner, and meeting us with an umbrella when it rained, and much more besides.

The accomodation was clean, beautifully presented and highly unique. Again the team went above and beyond to make sure everything was catered for (including extra mosquito treatment in our tent every night, as we were typically anxious British guests!)

The food was completely out of this world. Fresh, homemade dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner opened our eyes to the delicious Sri Lankan food we have been missing out on all these years! Every single dish was exceptional.

Along with all this we went dolphin watching (the team at Kodev packed us a lovely picnic hamper of goodies for the trip which was a lovely surprise) and had a romantic fire-lit seafood BBQ on the beach. This was beautifully done and started our honeymoon off in a fabulous way.

Massive thank you to everyone at Kodev. If you are thinking of booking this place, don't waste any time, you won't regret it!

Matt and Chandni
