Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Two kitesurfers from UK really enjoyed our stay here with Thusitha and his team who did everything to make us feel comfortable and "at home". The cottage was a good size, clean with an outdoor bathroom. The breakfast was very good. Thusitha is an outstanding cook and brewed us up a lovely variety of vegetable dishes in the evening. Very tasty. We enjoyed hanging out at the resort, wifi was good and there was a nice vibe especially with the family of dogs who were great company. It was
easy to enjoy the company of fellow
guests and diners coming to the resort for
the food and hospitality based on
Thusitha's respected reputation in the
village. We wish you all the best with your new resort and hope to return sometime in the future.

We just stopped by for a dinner and were nicely suprised by the quality of food - tasty and made from fresh lokal ingredients. The owner seems to be really enjoying to give a good service to his guests. We were highly satisfied and it made our evening.

We really enjoyed our stay at Salt Bay. The owner Thusitha is a great cook and good company and went out of his way to prepare Sri Lankan and Western food for us. The cabins are attractive and we liked the outdoor sitting space and large garden. Nice, fairly empty beach nearby.

Salt Bay is a relatively new place - very nice comfortable rooms and lovely outdoor bathrooms. Best of all are the people. Thusita is the most welcoming and kind person, who just wants his guests to have a good time. He is a bundle of energy and joy, and will try his best to help guests with anything they need. Prabhu, his sidekick is an excellent cook and super helpful. To top that off, I had some of my very best meals here! Excellent rice and curries, which led to unfortunate weight gain but I'd do it all over again! My favourite place is the table and chairs under the stars - Salt Bay is located in a quiet place so there aren't lights or noise to bother you when you're having drinks, playing music of your choice and star gazing.

Comfortable, clean, aesthetic cabanas with a laidback sit out to take in the sea breeze amidst coconut palms makes this place the perfect hangout at Kalpitiya. Semi-outdoor bathrooms are clean.
The gracious host works hard at keeping the place in top shape and cooks delicious meals -especially local Sri Lankan dishes. He even went out of the way to prepare a herbal drink to tame a particularly sore throat.
The friendly dogs and visiting donkey add to the positive energy.
The beach is a stroll away.
All in all,a quiet place to relax and unwind.

We had 3 nights at salt bay it was very friendly and welcoming, the food was delicious and is very easy to organise anything you want. The rooms are well set up with space for storage and a nice breeze flowed through the room which makes a difference when the blackouts happen, nothing was to much trouble we would be happy to stay here again.

Our host was exceptionnal! Really welcoming and helpful. He helped us to arrange our excursions and activities. The resort is beautiful! It is made of small authentic and clean cabanas in the middle of the palm trees. It is the perfect spot for everyone that wants to relax going to the beach walking and going kitesurfing nearby. It is also one of the best place to eat in Kalpitiya! Every meal was delicious and really diversified. We had awesome sri lankan typical dish and continental food also (the breakfast in amazing). We had a real crush on that place as we stayed 5 nights instead of 2!
